Post by: privatereserve on July 17, 2005, 03:19:10 PM
there is a letter supposdly of Axls back in the the day to his friend.  whats more interesting is who is the highest bidder.  THe highest bidder has a private id and everything.  its going for a thousand dollars.  i think Axl is buying it back.  go check it out go under axl rose and its on the second page in the middle.

A private bidder is usually someone who has a horrible e-bay reputation.  They also like to bid up the auction and not pay out of spite.

did axl sign his name w. axl rose back in '87?

Axl's writing is too easy to fake.

The ID of the buyer is kept private simply because it's a private listing. That was determined by the seller. The buyer has no possibility to keep his ID private.

Couldn't someone just check to see if GNR played any Philadelphia dates on, or around, October 19, 1987?

"I've gotten a couple of emails doubting the authenticity of this card that Axl sent me. It's sort of funny, these same doubters are dying to know all about Axl and what he was like. I already said I would not answer any questions about Axl but what I forgot to say in my description is that I have proof of everything I'm claiming in this auction and that proof will be provided by me to the buyer of this VERY AUTHENTIC card, sent to me by Axl in 1987............."

Ok, a guy that's selling letters by his friends on ebay. What sort of friend is this, exactly?

And, his only answer to the question "can you prove this is not fake?" is (turn volume up) "how dare you doubt? you want to know all about axl so buy it!!!!!!11111oneoneeleven" (turn volume down again). I mean, ummmm, not very convincing argument...

and yeah, the dude also sells "POISON GLAM BAND RIKKI ROCKETT'S BONGOS NATIVE TONGUE Rikki's only set of bongos on the Native Tongue Tour!! "; and buys and sells like hell on ebay since '98. why should he be selling a letter by his friend axl rose that he's been keeping for so long exactly now? and who the hell keeps envelopes of the letters his friends send to him?

(There's a "typo" in the letter: "show's are goin' good" - shouldn't that be "shows are goin' good"? i'm not saying axl wouldn't write that, but then, he maybe really wouldn't)

anyway, once you've read it, the letter ain't worth the 1000$ someone is bidding on it...

I bet axl wouldn't write that big font and so clear, and also the letter has no inside information that no one of us doesn't know. f-a-k-e.

Speaking of Ebay, I see people talking about how come certain people don't see axl daily like gas station attendants, the mail man, or paparazzis etc. in other threads. Do you ever think about searching for Axl photos on that site?

I'd like to know why this guy is selling the letter. Wouldn't he want to keep it, if it were real...?

It looks like Axl's handwriting style.

So, if it's a fake, then somebody has done a really good job.

Jarmo, I thought so too. His signature kind of proves its authentic. But "WHAT BE HAPPENIN!". Did Axl talk in ebonics? I didn't think so, but I could be wrong. This line is the only thing that makes me question its authenticity.

Maybe "What be Happenin" is a phrase the reciever of the card used, thus an inside joke

Why would he sell a priceless memento from a friend? He must desperately need the cash.

The card is from the 80's (not made any more) and that is the appropriate postage for 1987 (it went to .25 in 1988) So if it is a fake he held on to a fake for 18 years before he sold it.

This guy's legit - he was a Roadie for the band.

I remember he used to sell press passes and tour shirts last year.
