Title: Chinese character on 2002 stages
Post by: SINSHINE on September 06, 2005, 02:02:57 PM
Sorry if thise has been discussed (although I can't seem to remember it being mentioned before), but does anyone know what the Chinese character that decorated the front/floor part of the stage during the 2002 tour translates to?

I only thought of it because of estranged33 pics recently posted in the 'rare axl pics' thread.

Here's what I'm talking about:

I read somewhere that it says "Wild" or "Field".

Shame we don't have any chinese member? :-\

Axl has been giving away "telling" signs in Chinese for ages. There are many out there

You want riddles, you've got them. They've been there all along

Nice to have you back Mysteron. Any Updates?

Anyone knows what the chinese signs on the banners hanging in the background mean..? Maybe we should get someone to read them for us.

I am so damn jealous!!!  I'm a huge Vikings fan.  On my computer I couldn't tell if that was purple or blue.  I have seen a pic with the Vikings jersey, and for some reason he went with a number 35 jersey.  No player at that time used #35.  Oh well.  Go Vikes!!!  I'm tellin' ya, my friggin dream is the Vikings make it to the Super Bowl, and Axl's the surprise half-time performer, damn that would be sweet!

Now, now...I'm not speculating the symbol suggests anything of importance...I'm simply curious why they chose that particular character for the stage and what it's translation is. As much as I would love to discover 'hidden clues' as to the fate of CD, I don't actually believe they exist.

Now that I've cleared that up, back on track...can anyone decode Axl's secret message to his fans?  ;)

Mysteron, you just lost all credibility with that post. Pretty fucking pathetic. There's been several people here asking you for info in regards to the recent lawsuit and Richard's last email. You come back here with a dipshit post about secret meanings in chinese symbols. You should spew this kind of shit over at mygnr. Most of the people here are a little too smart to fall for it.

What's pathetic is that no one cares to keep this thread on topic. And for the record, a  usually means someone's being sarcastic, which I normally would not have a problem with if someone cared to stick to the discussion and not taint this thread with childish antics.

Jesus Christ...I started off just wanting the know the answer to what I thought was a simple question and now all I want to do is LOCK my own goddamn thread!

Thank you, Mysteron! ?: ok: ? My last comments were not intended to be directed at you I hope you realize. It just seems nobody can start a thread these days with someone spoiling it on the first page of posts. Frustrating.

PPbebe...sorry if I got blinded by the pissing fit thrown after your post. Not that I don't believe you or Mysteron, but do you remember where you read that?

I'd ask about the other characters that adorn the banners above the stage but I think I'll just quit while I'm ahead ?;)

Sorry a little late to the post, I live and work in China, so Chinese is not a problem.
Earlier poster had it correct, this character means "wild". Mandarin pronunciation is ye, third tone.
There are 4 tones in Mandarin Chinese.

I have bought some pirated cds over here of GNR.? The chinese is qiang yu meigui. Direct translation is guns and roses.

Don't know how to input a jpeg otherwise I would post direct, doesn't seem to work.
I posted it here...http://yidezu.com/v-web/gallery/album01/GnR1
