Title: Your fav. Axl voice
Post by: Sam on January 17, 2006, 07:19:20 PM
As Slash put it, Axl has five or six voices that he used.  The You're Crazy acoustic voice, the Perfect Crime Voice, the SCOM voice, etc. Just wondering what people's personal favorites were.

Album version of Civil War is my favourite vocally, but I can pick a favourite 'voice.' I love them all.

I love the way he says the word "Die" in Live and Let Die.

That's why he's so great singer; he has a lot of different voices. Perfect Crime played live is awesome  :smoking: But it's hard to say 'the best' voice..

1986-1991-1993.

My favourite years, of his voice.

But I like his voice overall, I like it now too, but it's very different.

the "my world" voice, the "shotgun blues" voice, and the "I dont care about you voice".
Thats like his "natural" voice, in my opinion.

His WTTJ voice, and his Breakdown voice.   The magnitude between these 2 vocal extremes never ceases to amaze me

Also, I remember the first time I heard his live cover of 'Dust in the Wind'.  I was really moved by the emotion in his voice.

Me too.

He has a great singing voice, obviously, but the emotion he puts behind it makes it that much more impressive and sincere.

I personally like his Oh My God voice. He has a lot of power vocally in that song. It's really intense.

In estranged I never liked the sound he had where he has that fake sound.. I( shouldn't say fake, but there is parts of the song where it sounds like synthetic vocals

I think his "natural" voice is in Dont Cry and Patience cos it dosnt sound like he's forcing any particular sound. He's just singing, IMO

Cool topic.. My current faves (of the released songs, of course) are his vocals on Breakdown and Think About You - For totally different reasons. I also love his random outburst screams, especially the one in Perfect Crime ("I SAID IT'S PERFECT!!"). Great stuff.

And I seriously love how he sounds on IRS - The vox there are fucking unreal. Hopefully the final version sounds similar.

Most of that voice is altered by the studio anyway.

I think that '93 Axl had the best voice, if we're talkin' about live-voices :peace:
But in Don't Damn Me, It's So Easy, Coma and Back Off Bitch he's amazing too.. but I don't think that Axl is BAD in any song.

It's hard to pick a favourite, cos i love all of axls voices. If i had to choose, it would be the bit in you're crazy(acoustic),where he reaches that really high note-that bit always sends shivers down my spine. ;)

I like his voice on "It's So Easy", he doesn't break that out for other songs.
