Right I am not trying to start a "Will Guns n Roses be at the Superbowl thread". But because I live in England we probably dont get as much hype about the Superbowl as you fellas in the States! I am just wandering who is confirmed for the half time show this year? Because I have not seen anything about it yet or I may have missed it if its been mentioned before! Mike

The Rolling Stones will do the halftime performance. There are some other bands that will perform at the pre-game festivities, but I dont remember who they announced would do it.

There's no buzz about GNR appearing at the Superbowl. The only place it has ever been mentioned is at these forums. The NFL always plays it safe when picking half time performers, and after the Janet Jackson fiasco they will really be playing it safe. Paul McArtney's performance last year proved that point. Axl's just too big of a risk to play at an event like the Superbowl. Its a wide variety of different people, lots of drinking, globally watched event, 15-20 minute timeframe for the performer, etc. Something could go wrong no matter who's playing. But you put Axl into that situation, and the chances of something bad happening shoot up astronomically. I would love to see GNR perform there, but its never gonna happen.

am i right in thinking that Axl went to the superbowl a few years back?  i vaguely remember a photo of him at a game post 2000 (ish).  Perhaps he will attend at least as a spectator?

GNR will not play in the half time show. Even if Axl wanted to play, the organizers would turn GNR down cause GNR doesn't appeal to a wide audience anymore. They were the biggest band 13 years ago (it would've made sense then...) but not anymore.

On a side note, this is super dead horse anyway. It has been discussed a billion times here.

GNR doesn't appeal to a wide audience anymore.
Thats not true. 'Jungle' is played every few minutes every sunday at every NFL stadium. If people heard that opening riff start at halftime, a large part of the crowd would go wild. GNR's "appeal" has nothing to do with why they wont ever perform there.

Lol American Football is only good when you watch the highlights. There were the playoff highlights on ITV the other day which was wicked.

However, thats because all of the bollocks was cut out. All those special commerical breaks which ruins the game was taken out. How do you Americans stomach a whole game?
