Title: Buckethead VS. Michael Angelo
Post by: There Was A Time on March 29, 2006, 05:51:11 PM
There is no comparing Batio and Bucket.....Bucket is better for GnR than batio and heres why.... People say bucket has no emotion??? batio is more robotic than bucket. If u listen to the way bucket played the old gnr solos like nightrain kohd and november rain u can see he has emotion.? Also if u listen to solo albums such as electric tears and colma u would see the emotion he puts forward. As for the speed aspect any1 can play scales at 100 mph including bucket so i beleive bucket is just as fast as batio if not faster (yes ive seen batios videos like speed kills) also i can guarantee u bucket didnt use his full shred capabilities in gnr. so u really cant say batio is better in regards of speed. finally what has batio written??? nothing meaningful!!! i mean he was in freakin nitro 4 crying out loud!!!!!so bucket is better in emotion/ and songwriting and just as fast so why does every1 bash bucket cuz he is better than batio.

Bucket is an all around guitar player who can play any style from death metal 2 blues and batio is an over-rated mullet wearing wanna be shredder.? :peace:

Angelo can play great but cant write. BH can play great and can write some great songs.

we shouldn't compare those two unless we know batio is in the band.. but we don't

Angelo can play great but cant write. BH can play great and can write some great songs.

that's perfect then.....Buckethead has already wrote the songs............and Angelo will just have to worry bout playing them live ;D ?oh and do something with that stupid hair.......put a bucket on that head or something....geez Angelo

Angelo is not coming into this band. If they get someone, we will know and understand the choice. Angelo is a one trick pony.

It's great to see this debate spill over into another thread!   : ok:

Seriously, though there's nothing to worry about with Angelo... we just have to wait and see what happens on that front.

Buckethead is playing in my hometown tonight ?:P I liked his work on the demos, but I trust Axl's decisions when it comes to the music. If he thinks Angelo can pull it off, assuming he does tour w/ GN'R, I'm sure he'll be just fine.

well, i guess the thing is, that bouth Bucket and Michael is great guitarplayers, and im sure Michael
could do Bucketheads parts well... But i dont know which one is the best.. I think they play in a simular
way, and like that kind of sound in GnR. I like it verry well, but i simply LOVE Robin`s sound!
The combination of the two ways to play is really exciting...! And not to forget about Richard.. He is unique
on stage! Really knows what he`s doin...

I'm a little more into Bucket personally, BUT they're both pretty fucking amazing...

The one positive MAB seems to bring to the table is that he's not an unpredictable nut job like Bucket... Axl's enough for us to worry about.

The other posters are right though... no need to too delve too deeply into this unless we know MAB is on board...

Personally I think Batio's a great guitarist.

Thing is, of course IF he becomes part of Gn'R he's going to HAVE to learn to play emotionally! He may be robotic now, but if told to play emotionally, I'm pretty sure he could do it. The fast shredding thing is just a showing off thing. But seriously, he wouldn't be named as the number one guitarist in the world if he was incapable of playing emotionally.

Just cuz you haven't seen it, doesn't mean its not there.

And dude... I like mullets!! ;D

He's good, but he'sno where near as good as bucket  in my opinion. Michael Angelo is just boring to me, yeah he's fast but I'm sure Pitman can make all those noises on his keyboards

He kind of looks like my mom.

I think john 5 and the ninja turtle guy both sound kind of like throw back Slayer metal. But not in a cool way.

So Michael Angelo Batio has now been given the proud name of Ninja Turtle Guy...

Yea I know what you mean about the Slayer thing. The really really fast thing.

I think someone should set that man a challenge. He's not allowed to shred at full speed for over a year and must play only emotional bluesy stuff, classical madrigal stuff, and crunching heavy slow Dimebag-style riffs (see Domination on Cowboys From Hell).

:smoking:

It would be quite interesting actually methinks.

I met this Michael Angelo character's girlfriend on a flight back to the US from Europe.  She's all like, "My boyfriend's Michael Angelo", and I'm like "Who the hell is that?".  ah ha  She wrote some shit on a napkin for me, maybe I will have to go dig it up.

Buckethead's a better writer and overall player.  I wouldn't want Batio actually in the band, but it would be awesome if he toured with them because he is a brilliant technical player and he would be fun to watch on stage with Axl

Exactly....

If Axl gets Batio, all the shredhaters can start browsing their old threads and recycle the arguments they wrongfully used to discredit Buckethead, to make a valid point against Batio. Batio is the kind of guitarplayer who gives all other players, who can add speed as a dimension to their repetoire, a bad name. His playing has very little to do with music and very much with gymnastics. Unlike Buckethead who is one of the truly great (both in playing and in composing) in the instrumental genre.

His (Batio's) approach to making music is similar to a person who aspires to be a writer and decides to do so by learning the dictionary by hard, without ever knowing about proper grammar (analogy for structure, phrasing, dynamics, rhythm and sense of melody). Sure, he knows all the words (chops) and he's proud to use as many of them as possible. But without the deeper understanding of the classes of words, their inflections, and their functions and relations in the sentence... it holds no water.

It would be interesting for some live shows, but nothing permanent...

They are both wrong for Guns N' Roses.. Oh God I said it. Bucket is a great player but doesnt fit the mold and neither does Batio.

Talk about fitting the mold, once you have seen the mold. Nobody knows for sure which musical direction Axl wants to head at. With a musical chameleon like Buck, who represents the future of instrumental guitar for many fans of instrumental music, you can't go wrong. Don't tell me I have to start explaining how reasoning from a "looks" viewpoint is pretty irrelevant concerning the new GNR, like it should be when discussing a band.

Bullshit, he was fed up with GNR's workethics and treatment of fans. You join a band to play and record music and bring it to the fans. Not to sit and wait.

I know why Buckethead left, I have reliable sources concerning him. So please don't project your ignorance on me. The last time people questioned my sources on Buck, the previous RiR was months from happening and not many people believed me when I said that Buck wouldn't be joining GNR.
