Title: Richard's 24-fret Les Paul...
Post by: Mobenrad on August 14, 2006, 06:46:13 PM
That is NOT a Gibson. Anyone have ANY idea who made the guitar? The body looks Epiphone to me, it's flat.

Gibson has no 24-fret models and they don't make 24-fret necks, I doubt even for private deals. The headstock isn't Gibson either.

first off epiphones are mostly carved top

second off gibson makes specials which are flat so get your facts straight

its probqbly either made by a conjuction of warmoth and gibson or just warmoth.

www.warmoth.com

i have no proof its just my theory

why doesnt someone email and ask him?

Because we get replies 6 months later.

I figured it would be by Warmoth but the headstock by Warmoth still looks like Gibson, and Richard's looks nothing like Gibson.

one of the best richard pics I've seen...courtesy of 4tus.com, photgrapher George CHin...found by Jac185 of www.rosesofvelvet.com, and he's even using that guitar...maybe it's a home-made axe...i don't see a name on the headstock ??? or maybe it's made of a bunch of peices of other guitars...anywayit looks well worn (I mean loved) :hihi:

Found IT!!!!! ;D

Its a James Trussart Custom Guitar - SATIN HOLEY BACK STEELDEVILLE!! and it's a steel body with a Rust finish option ;)

http://www.jamestrussart.com/Newsite/Steeldeville/Steeldeville_HB_SATIN.htm

here is the Artist page and if you scroll down to the R's you see Richard Fortus ;) (looks like Robin plays one too ;) as well as gilby)

http://www.jamestrussart.com/Newsite/Artists2.htm

The way i found it...i was going through an old Guitar Mag cuz I'm learning a tune in it and there was a pick of Rich Robinson of the Black Crowes on the cover and his guitar had the same headstock so i went to his webpage and looked through his list of guitars for ones that didn't look familiar to me ;)

Description

Another classic design, favored by many, is the Steeldeville. Reconceived with a two octave 24 fret neck and a steel body, this guitar rocks? Like the SteelCaster, the neck, made of maple, has a unique recessed peg-head plate that creates incredible sustain and its hollow body has that special bite for pushing the sound to limits. Now part of the arsenal of the Black Crowes, Iggy Pop,Guns 'n Roses and Metallica, among others.
