That is awesome!! ?They totally rocked at the Inland!! ?Their lead singer has great stage presence!!! ?He gave everything he had to give at Inland--in fact I only had their first album, and just bought the others after that inspirational performance!! ?Rock on!

i saw them at krocks clausfest back in '04 and i must say they were pretty good, i dont care for much of their music, but they do have a good live sound. their singer has great stage presence as someone said before...think about it, it could be worse, cky could open again lol!!

I wish Fifty Cent and his crew would open. Honestly, I think that would be funny and to be totaly honest with you, I'd enjoy it more than some emo band. Not that i  ever listen to that stuff :-X but at least it wouldnt make me buy some earplugs.

Let's just all be thankful that we don't have to suffer through another night of BFMV.  That was truly horrendous.  That being said, I am not a big Papa Roach fan, but I think they put on a decent live show.  All that matters is that after they leave the stage, we get to see GNR!!!   : ok:

I'm not too happy about that. Wouldve loved to see Bach open. But I'll say this I've been seing Papa Roach on MTV since the nu metal uprising and found them quite "entertaining". Same thing at the inland invasion. Especially their vocalist who I kinda felt sorry for cuz he seemed really grateful and was giving it a 110 percent.

not terribly good -- but not horrible either.   They are just a mediocre band, although the singer does put on a good show and has energy, which counts for something.  I would have thought that Guns would seek an even stronger band to get better ticket sales -- they must really be counting on the album coming out sooner rather than later, which is good news.

Avenged Sevenfold actually would have sold more tickets on the bill than Papa Roach (even though A7x was embarrassingly bad live, I thought).  I dig Buckcherry, but they can't even fill a 500-800 seater at this point in time, so not much of a support draw.  It's good that Axl is staying with more current bands to have "real time" credibility.  Having Sebastian open would not have aided the cause at all.  That said, I would not be surprised if he ends being the true opener for a lot of the tour.  That is, Sebastian first, Papa Roach second and then Guns.  Remember, they effectively had 2 openers on the 2002 tour -- and look how well that went!

Hey I sat through Mixmaster Mike in 2002 I can only see this as somewhat of an improvement even if I am not a fan of the band.  I don't wander in til about 10 anyway :beer:

I was there early only because of the weather outside.  It was the one and only time I was actually in early for a GNR show because I know better.  I was more amused by some chicks near me looking like throwbacks from the 80's dancing on their chairs and stripping for the audience than whomever was opening anyway.

Papa Roach was pretty good at Inland.

Guns N Roses is doing a MUCH better job then I ever thought possible with reaching todays youth. I never would have imagined them being embraced by Kroq like they have. This isn't something that just happens either. Only Metallica has done this. Stones couldnt by the way. I do not own anything Papa Rouch. But, I do know they are played on heavy rotation on Kroq. They are big today. Really big. And a big band is opening for GNR. You cant buy that exposure. It either happens or it doesnt. Back in the day GNR always had big bands opening. They sure as shit couldnt in '02. I think this is great news for GNR. Its going to be a monster tour now.

I will wait on the responses if any, to drop some more reasons...but this is awesome news! I think GNR are primed and ready for a full scale takeover. If CD doesnt drop this year I will fucking scream!

I am actually a big Papa Roach fan, this is great news!  I know they aren't the most popular band ever, but they are pretty big for an opener.

Papa Roach is not big. They were sorta big about 6 years ago with "Last Resort". After that....not much

Papa Roach's tour with HIM has been cancelled. I was planning on spending $40 when that tour came to Orlando just to see Papa Roach, so this is great news to hear that instead they'll be opening for GNR. I feel SO much better now about spending close to $90 on GNR tix.

I was never a Papa Roach fan until I saw them live and man are they awesome in person. I've seen them six times now and they just keep getting better and better. For those of you that aren't familiar with them, try to keep an open mind. A lot of you will be impressed.

Man, but Kroq does play them a lot, and gives band updates a lot. This is a great move. They aren't as really big as Stones Guns Metallica kind of big...but in the world GNR wants to reach out to to gather more soon to be converted to Gunners, they are fucking big.

i'm a big papa roach fan so this is great news for me! I wanted to see them so bad this year, but their only east coast tour so far was in support of Him, and Him freakin sucks.

What exactly do people have against Avenged Sevenfold? ?One of the most talented and original bands around at the moment... mainstream enough to get a wide following, yet underground enough to not sound like all the other mainstream stuff in the world at the moment. ?Just like GN'R back in the day (not saying they sound like them at all).

His Infernal Majesty?  Finnish rock band that coined the term "love metal"?  Creators of the "heartagram"?  Bam Margera's TV shows might as well be one big music video for the band?

Papa Roach isnt bad for an opener, at least they have a big enough name to pull a few more people. I havent heard any of their new stuff, but some of their older stuff isnt bad.

I've always liked Papa Roach, I've seen them three times. The first time they were OK, the second time they were fucking awesome, and the third time they sounded like shit. So it was kinda hit or miss.

Yeah, The Paramoure Sessions is not one of their better efforts. Nothing will ever top the first album. But even that album had some misfires. Papa Roach makes better songs collectivley than they do entire albums. Their setlist though is always good and their energy onstage in unmatched by many

The guitar work is not worthy of the praise people give it, and I dont find swearing just to get a response from the crowd, to be very Rock N' Roll at all.

Different strokes for different folks though.

I've just remembered that Papa Roach often include a cover of Stone Temple Pilots' Sex Type Thing in their set.  Oh, the irony of that if they play it when opening for GN'R.

It's a good idea because it will bring a different kind of fanbase to see GNR live.....I am not a fan of PAPA at all, but I think this is a good idea...

GNR gets a big well known current band who will bring in a crowd that is younger and ripe for conversion. GNR just gauranteed themselves a place on Kroq and added coverage, and what do we have here....a bunch of negative nancies, who think it would be better having Sebastian's band play or an equally invisible group.

I care about having the tour selling well.. but I care more about having  an opening band that I would enjoy (and I dont know Papa Roach that much but the webcast did not impress me at all) so, Id way rather have someone like Bach which I would love to see and enjoy, then some random 'noise' band.

  i'd like to know what you people have listened to for the past 15 years.  papa roach are one of the best new bands out there.  truthfully speaking they probably have as many fans as the new gnr does.  in 2002 i couldn't even give my extra ticket away.  nobody wanted to go.  my extra ticket never got used!! .  you people need to realize gnr aren't and never will be as big as they were.  i'm surprised as hell that gnr could even get them.  they can stand on their own 2 feet.  AND I'M HAPPY AS HELL IT'S THEM.  so you people that are stuck in the past listening to gnr only for the past 20 years need to EXPAND!!!!!

The fact that they are one of the best new bands out there is just another sad fact about the state of Rock in 2006......they would not even EXIST in the early 90's with Metallica, Alice In Chains, Soundgarden, Nirvana, Faith No More, RHCP, Tool...SO ON AND SO FORTH...They would have gotten LAUGHED off the stage back then.....
Forget Guns N Roses being in the conversation......That said, I believe it is a good choice ONLY because Papa will bring a different fan base to the show....that is it and that is all....have a nice day... :peace:

I saw Korn and SodD on Ozzfest a couple of years ago and thought they were both terrible. I might at least give Papa a chance seeing as I've never seen them live.

i bought p. roach first album " infest" (i believe) i jammed it for about a month and it never saw my cd player again. it's a decent album don't get me wrong, but once i heard it i was done with it.

Gee, that's funny. I've seen Buckcherry 3 times recently. The first show was sold out (1500 in attendance), the second one sold out (2100 in attendance), and the 3rd was a near sell out in a building with a 1700 capacity.

I think it would be smart to have Baz open, followed by papa roach. That way there's drawing power for older fans and younger fans.

Some of you seem to think it should be somebody "huge" to open for GnR, but , unfortunately, Axl needs to re-establish himself before that will happen.Sure, GnR is still huge to us, but not so much with the rest of the world anymore.

And some of you that constantly whine about "how sad the state of rock n roll is today" remind me of my parents when i was growing up 20 freaking years ago. Rock music changes and evolves, get used to it.

To any of you age 30 or over: When GnR first came around 20 years ago, how many of your parents thought they were absolute crap? Did any of them think they were just trashy looking stones wannabes? How many of you had parents that called our generations music " garbage,trash,etc.." ?Well, that's how my parents and most of their friends were back then. That's also how many of the people around here sound about todays music, and you can bet that 20 years from now, today's 15 year olds will be 35 and bitchin that "today's music is crap". Too bad some people won't allow themselves to evolve.

I like most of what I've heard from Papa Roach.  I really liked their first couple of singles, was tempted to buy the album but didn't.  I think they'd be a fine opener.  Of course I most likely won't rush to see them.  But I wouldn't be opposed.  It depends, that hour+ wait Axl is known for can do a number on the wallet having to buy beers at the concert.  At least you save SOME money at bar pre-gaming.

It would have been cool if it was bach or Kid Rock.  :) I'm not a Papa Roach fan at all but some of their songs are ok.  Anyway I'm not going to the shows to see the opening band. I'm going to see Guns N' Roses.  :beer:

My Mom liked GNR back during the Illusion days oddly enough, she thought the November Rain video was great. Can't say she ever got into them though, that was more my type of thing.

Does anyone remember one of the 1st GNR posters where it was a pic of the band pointing a gun at the camera? whatever angle you looked at it the gun appeared to be pointing at you. Was pretty freaky for a 15 year old!

As previously reported, PAPA ROACH will be also be opening for GUNS N' ROSES on October 22 Gaylord Entertainment Center in Nashville, Tennesse. It is not presently clear if PAPA ROACH will provide support at any of the other dates on GUNS N' ROSES' North American tour.

i've seen them three times, all festivals. i always enjoy watching coby sing and move and go crazy on stage. but some of their songs do suck. but it's a nice opening band to waste your time on.

According to the press release going around, P roach are only playing up until Nov 3...that sucks, cuz the NYC date is Nov 10. My only hope now is that Avenged Sevenfold will be the opener...that would be a dream come true for me

I never saw them live but I have their latest DVD and I was very suprised when I watched it.  The band has some really good songs and Jakoby really gives 110%.  I think as far as frontmen go he is one of the only ones out there that could give Axl a run for his money.  I think they would be a cool opening band for GnR. :yes: : ok: :peace:

bah Nov 3rd last date with papa roach.  So now i have to decide....go to WV and see papa roach who I have no desire to see (but could probably tolerate) or go to Cleveland and see ??? which based on GNR's past openers will probably be worse but wouldn't take a whole lot to be better.  I'm in columbus so they're about the same distance away from me.

The problem here is that Papa roach had no fan base left. ?They havent had a hit song in 5 years and they are overwhelmingly considered washed up.

If GNR could get The Hold Steady to open, it would be the ultimate party tour of the decade!!  I have both of these guy's CD's, and they are incredible!

GnR needs to get Ricky, Julian, and Bubbles to open all the shows in Canada. Ricky can show Axl how to get Drunk as fuck, Bubbles can come out and be the fourth guitarist and back up singer on Patience, and Julian can teach Axl how to run around the whole show without spilling his Rum and Coke. Since Bumblefoot doesn't drink or do drugs, they could bring Randy along for an after party cheeseburger eating contest. To top off the show, J-Roc could come out and lay down a freestyle on Rocket Queen. This post is for the Canadians on the board.

axl used to be cool - he has said he once wanted nwa to open for guns. look how far we've fallen, from nwa (and soundgarden - when they and cornell were good, faith no more etc) to absolutely horrible rubbish like papa roach and bullet for my valentine.

Axl is making some mad cash I think off these shows.  I think he feels that they dont need a "great opening" band to play, because people are going to come regardless. 

Dosnt really matter to me though, as I am comming to see Axl.  However would be nice to see a up and comming band  take the stage and rock it out.

I personally think Bach will bring in alot of the old fans. I know at least 3 guys going to the Detroit show because they like Bach enough to wanna see him and they're gonna stay to check out the new GNR.

Exactly....I convinced a friend of mine(we debate constantly; he's a hardline supporter of the old GNR line-up) to come to MSG based upon the fact that Baz was opening and doing My Michelle.

I am telling you guy's, if they can get The Hold Steady to open some dates--esp. Chicago, Ames, and Minneapolis--it would be huge.  This band is blowing up on college campuses in the Midwest, and their new album comes out tomorrow--from what I've heard, it's going to be their best yet.

For sure. I can't say that it will attract ya know, like a million fans or anything but it will attract alot of people who wouldn't normally think about paying to see the new lineup.
