If there's a pre-sale through HTGTH you'll probably have to sign up, I'm sure Jarmo will make a thread. That's IF. I don't think there will be too many more presales here though, I'm guessing those were more for the warmup gigs only.

maybe not, but my firend and i have been looking for an excuse to camp out for the last 2 years and havent found it. so we are just as pumped to camp out as to to the concert (that is a slight exaggeration).

Has anyone ever been to a conert at the metro centre with general admission on the floor.  The people i am going with probably won't want to wait in line the whole day.  Would i therefore be better off going for lower bowl or will it be easy to make it towards the front?

That's exactly the dilemma I am having right now. If it's too hard to get to the front I'll just go with lower bowl, close to the stage.

Post by: maddog001 on September 25, 2006, 06:36:27 PM
Looking at the seating plan, a half decent lower bowl seat would be at centre ice at least.  It is a dilemna.  If it was just me going, i would have no problem getting up front.

Title: Re: Halifax, NS - November 20th
Post by: daubs on September 25, 2006, 06:40:35 PM
you have to get there pretty early to get up front. i dont like the floor just cuz then people start pushing and i find its hard to watch the show. ill take a seat for sure.

and im just going to camp out 80% for the hell of it and 20% to make sure i get a ticket

Title: Re: Halifax, NS - November 20th
Post by: RoCoKiN on September 25, 2006, 06:43:44 PM
Yeah, I've got six people coming with me so I don't think I'll be hitting the floor.

Waiting outside a stadium is BADD way to get tickets now.
In the amount of time the first 5 people get tickets, they could be sold out because of the internet.

When Pearl Jam played here in St Johns last year, I knew people who waited outside for almost 2 days and we first in line, and ended up with worse seats than I bought from the website. As soon as tickets went on sale, I was clicking my way to getting them online, as was pretty much everyone else in the province. Half the people in the lineup outside the stadium didn't even get tickets because it sold out so fast.

So... while it is a great story to camp out to get tickets, it's definitely not the smartest thing to do these days.

I have a feeling this show will cost me $500 or so if I can get tickets....

Also...
Looks like some people in Halifax aren't so excited:

thats a really good point. but for me, i think going outside is the best. because 1.i dont have a credit card, 2.if i used my parents (Which is an option), i still have the problem of my friends cuz we all want to go together. so i figure i will just line up.

Yes i definitely would.  I was on the floor at almost all the shows ive seen and its much better view wise anyway.. if you havent seen these guys yet or its been a while the floor is the way to go!!!

 :peace:

Title: Re: Halifax, NS - November 20th
Post by: daubs on September 25, 2006, 08:36:33 PM
i dont like the floor for these reasons:

1.people trying to push ahead of you to get to the front (ive been in the front all the times ive gone)
2.crowdsurfers/moshers. i dont have aproblem with it, its just i want to watch the show, not worry about somebody coming down on my head or trying not to fall over the people next to me.

so i would rather have a seat where i can watch the show and not worry about anything else. but thats just me...

does anybody know if there are any problems with buying online tickets in terms of too many people trying to do it or what? Ryan_of_lax?

Its gonna be a joke if this concert doesnt sell out. Thats why im a bit nervous about GNR comming to small places like this without an album to show they are a kick ass band.

Title: Re: Halifax, NS - November 20th
Post by: ryan_of_lax on September 25, 2006, 10:51:54 PM
It took me about 10 minutes of constantly clicking refresh to get onto the Ticket Master site the morning the Pearl Jam tickets went on sale. But, I never heard of anyone not being able to get into the site after 10 minutes or so, and the show sold out in a half hour. Whereas, there were lots of people in the lineup outside the stadium who didn't even get tickets because there's no way the people working at the ticket windows could keep up with the online sales.

You know it's this is rather funny that Axl is playing in Halifax. My friend called me 2 weeks ago and said he heard that Axl was coming, I just laughed it off b/c of Axl rescheduling certain dates.

Now long and behold Axl is going to Halifax. I was planning on going to TO but this way I don't have to.

And Merck, you definetly have to get some Keith's for the boys!

Just talked to the company (1-866-999-8687) organizing the package deal for the concert at the Pepsi Coliseum in Quebec City on the 18th. Lodging, lower bowl tickets and transportation (from Saint John) for $346 tax inc. This might end up being an expensive week. Quebec on the 18th then off to Halifax on the 20th......

If you have a Credit Card.. do it online.
Standing in line is the way of the past. Although you may get good stories out of it.
I actually stood in line over night wayyyy back in the 80's when the Gunners opened for Iron Maiden. Good time but my seats weren't the best.

anybody want tickets? if your not going to get yours thru presale, if you get me cash, ill camp out and buy your tickets at the box office (at cost, no mark up) for you, just buy me a beer before the show or something.

(i just want to camp out).

im thinking about camping out and then selling my tickets at cost to people in the back of the line haha. that would be slick.

my other idea was to camp out, and at once i get to the box office ask if slash is coming, and then just be like 'ah fuck this then' and leave.

i just want to be able to say i camped out for gnr' tickets.

I'd guess no noobs...  They only open so many seats for the presale, but usually its plenty for the fans to get tickets.  The only rough time was Hammerstein..

that must have been insane..

2 seasons ago i went to every halifax mooseheads game (canadian hockey league junior team in halifax) all season and in the playoffs they went up against rimouski in the finals (who had hometown star sidney crosby, whom wayne greztsky dubbed 'the next one'), so everybody was like oh lets go see crosby play, so me, a die hard, didnt get tickets... i ended up getting them thru a friend on a msg board (which is why msg boards rule, we gotta stick together), point of the story is, yeah, bandwagon jumpers suck.

its nice to see die hards served first. thats the way it should be. it would suck if i didnt get a ticket and somebody else got in and then got pissed cuz slash wasent there..

If I didn't respect the wishes of the mods on here I'd post it but I understand what they are doing. And by the way, the passcode I have is the same for the whole tour.. or so I think.

Meanwhile...back at the ranch...my fiance has been riding my ass for years because I still like GN'R...she doesn't quite get it, she thinks I'm still living in my teens when they were big and that I'm "obsessed" and 18 years of being into one band hardcore that I have to move on...well, I don't think she gets the fine line between obsession and loyalty! ?So the other day I tell her that GN'R are coming to town and she's like "I'm going too" ?and I'm like "Why, you don't even like them", anyway she tells me that she wants to be there to see my reaction when they start playing. ?Then yesterday she tells me that she's decided that if she is going she needs to know all their songs....anyway, I have to give my fiance a crash course in Guns N' Roses...how cool is that.

haha, that story is all too familiar with me. But it was Motley Crue... hence I wasn't forking out a second $400 for another front row seat. The wife stayed home and I partied HARD!

I was big on the Crue back in the day...I would have liked to have gone to the show but I decided not too...I drove by the Marquee that night after work and saw all the people there for Vince's wet t-shirt contest  :hihi:

I'm hosting "Cruefest Nova Scotia" this Saturday at Dooly's in Chester.
10 rock bands playing a majority of 80's tunes
MusicStop and Ovation donated a guitar to raffle off. Plus there are other sponsors like Jagermeister etc...
First band hits the stage at 3:00pm last one ends at 2:00am
All money rasied goes to the Crues charitable foundations.
This is the only official cruefest in Canada east of BC!
$15 admission until 10:00pm, at that time admission is $5
www.cruefestnovascotia.com

You should come out. I'm sure there will be some GnR somewhere in the day!

many times events have multiple pre-sales (through different organizations/promotions)  And yes, unfortunately these passwords get leaked.   ~ It's my understanding that fan forum pre-sale passwords aren't out yet.

Not to rain on anyone's parade, but look at a lot of the shows that have been on sale for a few weeks, they aren't sold out.  Just be patient and you'll have your chance to get tix.

Agreed.. what I have was leaked somewhere else.
It wasn't even for the Halifax sales but works. That what leads me to suspect it works for all.

I'd say that person doesn't know what they are talking about. A member already contacted Ticket Atlantic a few days ago and they said the presale is being put on through GN'R management.

The password that is floating around now shows the presale date as starting Friday at 10am.

We we'll probably recieve the password sometime after midnight tonight.  I hope we will all keep this password amongst ourselves as well.  I'm sure there would only be 50 or so of us that belong to these forms that will be taking advantage of the presale.  Therefore, we should be able to get some great seats.  I'm opting for the lower bowl since i am with a group.  Also, a question for noticeboy.  When u logged in with the password, did it say how many tickets u can purchase during the presale?

Title: Re: Halifax, NS - November 20th
Post by: daubs on September 28, 2006, 03:02:23 PM
ill awnser that cuz i figured out the password, it didnt, but i assume maximum of 10 as normal for the show....

i figured out the password as well. there isnt a site that says the halifax show, but as i saw, the password is the same for all canadian dates. if youve been a member for more than a month and dont get a password tomorrow, daubs_gnr@hotmail.com ill help you out. i dont like the randomness of it (sounds like not everybody gets it?). it should be for all members, not just the guys who were home at the time or the guys who are selected.

they wont change the password...that wouldent make any sense.

umm a bit. i dunno, ive heard from friends that they overheard people talking about it. some people are like 'yeah waste of money to wait for somebody whos not coming'. i think alot of people will go out of curiousity.

im confident it will sell out. simply cuz its axl rose in halifax and its been 18 years. if he was here in 02' it might not.

Like was answered already. You can't tell until they are actually on sale.
It will more than likely be 10 but if not it should be 4.
Anybody other than us 2 find the password yet online?
Only took 5 minutes compared to coming on here and bothering the mods. I'm pretty sure they are very busy at the moment with all this happening.

Buzz in Halifax? Um not quite sure about that, I'm in Fredericton, N.B the next province over and the response is pretty damn good, Im thinking it will be sold out, IF not sold out then prettyd amn close. Motley crue drew a good crowd in Saint john and Halifax so im hoping the crowd in Halifax for GNR will be crazy crazy crazy, Gonna be weird cuz I know all the lyrics to the unreleased songs  8)

Maybe a few of us from this board can meet up somewhere and drink some brews, not sure where to stay In halifax either, any ideas? Thinking casino nova scotia but lemme know..

we defintally need a pre party. i would have one at my place but i live with 5 guys, and 2 of the guys own the house, so its not my place to have a big party here. we should go to peddlers or something before the show to meet and stuff. we defintally need a pre-game party.

I'm going to answer my own question and for anyone else who is curious.  Row A is closest to the floor and goes all the way up to row S.  And seat 1 is closest to the stage all the way to 14 15 16 depending on the sec.  So in section 7 seat 1 is beside section 6.

im taking seats cuz i just want to watch the show, i get distracted by pushing/crowd surfers/moshing ect.

Haha, from GN'R tribute to the real thing in a year.

I hope they make Halifax a regular stop on their tours from now on. No reason why they shouldn't if they can sell the place out.

Hopefully Halifax builds a bigger venue for the Commonwealth games so we can have more seating....because if CD takes off huge then the Metro Centre might become to small of a venue for them.

Title: Re: Halifax, NS - November 20th
Post by: daubs on September 29, 2006, 10:50:01 AM
i think the only reason they are coming is trying to recapture their market. they need to move around to play for / win over the most people possible.

also its a smallish venue for arena standards. small = good for gnr. nothing worse then alot of empty seats up in the rafters. any even ive ever gone to that should sell out, when there are alot of empty seats i find it amusing/pathetic.

i went to the OSHL game here in halifax in 2004 (original stars hockey league, throw together during the nhl lock out) and they had the whole upper bowl blocked off...i thought it was pathetic.

I noticed something about the seating, Is the stage like wide open with no back? because when I went to the Our lady peace concert a couple months ago Section 6-5-4 and so on were closed off, but for gnr they are open

Yeah on the seating chart it looks as those areas in 6,5,4 & 24, 25, 26 are available.

I wonder if it will sell out?  I went to the Live concert a few months ago and it was pathetic but big difference between Live and Guns n Roses. When Pearl jam came a year ago it was packed and the atmosphere was incredible!!

ticketatlantic.ca is the main website for tickets to this show and it's out. gunsnroses.com is via tickets.com which is a broker I guess. Plus no one is having much luck with them (errors).

That's nothing, man... just look at all the names for places in New Jersey. ?Lot's of places named after british places. ?Oh, and there's a London in Canada too.
The reason? ?In colonial times, the british colonies named the places after british places to make them feel more at home.

America, since Bush took over, has been dumbied down culturally (not to mentioned flat out raped by this administrations policies--economics may have something to do with slower sales in the U.S., as the economy is not what it was in the 90's). ?It is a cycle, which reminds me of the mid-80's. ?Cheese-puffs, sniffling-indie kids, media-manufactured stars, etc. ?America, it seems is usually about two years behind Europe when it comes to musical shifts and cycles. ?It will come around, eventually!

Yeah, right after I posted this I thought.....man, someone is going to spin this as it having something to do with Bush.....and sure enough.....everything is Bush's fault I guess, even GNR ticket prices. Wait, I know, Bush made it so gas companies are making it to expensive to heat and/or electric companies to air condition the venues, hence the high ticket prices, and only rich republicans can go to the show.  Maybe after the Democrats take over congress in November, GNR will sell out every venue the day after. LoL

I digress and that was not what intended by the post I guess.....I am just glad to see some of the world still loves GNR like I do.

Um to everyone saying that their arena is half full etc etc, or WHATEVER which means nothing anyways. Halifax's market is WAY smaller then Toronto, Edmonton, Vancouver, New York ETC ETC. We have maybe 350,000-400,000 in halifax so by selling out this quick by a band who hasnt seen the maritimes in over 18 years is remarkable, LET alone the fact that its just Axl and Dizzy.

Gonna be a GREAT SHOW, see all you fuckers in section 7.

I said the same thing the page before.  There is only 400,000 in Halifax.  Also, it's not like big name acts don't come to Halifax.  The Rolling Stones were here last week, as well as Motley Crew and Pear Jam last year.  So it is quite impressive to sell it out in this amount of time.  See u in section 7.

Maybe I am elitist, but if I am planning a vacation around a concert of some sort, $50-$100 for a concert ticket would not be a deal breaker either way.  If it was a deal breaker, then its obvious I can't afford the vacation to begin with.

Plus I would think vegas would be cheaper for hotels, food, etc....just sit at the nickel slots and eat $1 shrimp.

Ticket Atlantic just released more general admission tickets for the Halifax show. they are still $69.99 (+ service charge of 6 bucks).

They also told me they were looking at opening up the sections beside the stage. i got the impression they had to talk to the GNR camp as to stage set up....

That's cool though, I guess there's still high demand for the show. Too bad they couldn't swing a second night or something.

Looks like Ottawa will possibly be the next sellout. Looking for 2 tix I could only get Section 320 row O (alphabetical), which is almost behind the stage :P
