Does anyone know why Kobe changed his number this season? Now it's 24.

"Late in the season, it was reported that Bryant would change his jersey number from #8 to #24 at the start of the 2006-07 NBA season. #24 was Bryant's first high school number, before he switched to #33. After the Lakers' season ended, Bryant said on TNT that he wanted #24 as a rookie, but it was unavailable, as was #33, retired with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. He said the switch to 24 signified the start of the second half of his career. Byrant took number 8 after his favorite Italian league player, Mike D'Antoni. The Lakers guard grew up watching D'Antoni as a star point guard in the Italian league, where his father, "Jelly Bean" Bryant, also played"

lakers' fan   keep an eye on Andrew Bynum, he's only 19 and he is showing his game this season, i wonder if he will return to the bench once Kwame and Chris Mihm are healthy

Where is Iverson headed?

I'm hoping for Minnesota right now because I'm going to see them play the Raps.  It will be twice as good to see KG and AI at the same time.

Never would have guessed Denver.  I think he and Carmelo will clash big time.

If anyone does care about ball in this section, go check out the article on ESPN written about the Suns.  They are definetaly the most entertaining team in the league and that article really lays it all out... I found it amazing that with the exception of 2 losses from plays at the end of the game, the Suns could possibly be on a 28 (now 29) game winning streak...  They may break the franchise record for longest winning streak twice in one season!

the Suns are fools gold.  The run-and gun playing wont win in the playoffs.  Sure its fun to watch, but just relying on scoring quickly and not playing D wont win a championship. Wait and see.

Suns haven't been that bad defensively this year; a lot of their running is triggered by causing turnovers on the defensive end.  Also, Stern realizes that most fans prefer watching a fun/entertaining team and the league will be more successful if more teams played like the Suns.  That's why there have been all these rule changes in recent years that make it more difficult to play defense.   That said, I don't know if they'll win it all or not, but I hope they do.

They looked solid in the playoffs last year (coming back from a 3-1 series to win) and that was without Amare.  Of course taking the west is a challenge when you're up against the Mavs and the Spurs, but they've got the potential to do it... but as far as the regular season is concerned, there isn't a better team to watch.

I doubt Nash will win MVP, but he deserves it more this year than the past two IMO (so far).

The only reason the Suns even made it to the conference finals was because the LA teams choked.

http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/recap?gameId=270124018

NEW YORK (AP) -- The Phoenix Suns took nearly 40 years to win 15 straight games. They needed only a month to do it again.

Hot To The Touch

The Suns are the first team in NBA history to have two separate win streaks of at least 14 games before the All-Star break. Only two other teams had multiple 13-game win streaks before the break:
1st streak  2nd streak  Season result
2006-07 Suns  15  15  ???
1995-96 Bulls  13  18  NBA champs*
1991-92 Bulls  14  13  NBA champs
*Won NBA-record 72 games
-- Source: Elias Sports Bureau, Inc.

Amare Stoudemire scored 26 of his 30 points in Phoenix's big second half and the Suns beat the New York Knicks 112-107 on Wednesday night for their second 15-game winning streak of the season.

Barely a month after establishing the longest winning streak in franchise history, the Suns equaled it by turning things around after a sluggish first half in the second night of a back-to-back.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Against Washington they poured in 75 points in the first HALF.  If the Suns are "fools gold", then I'm a fucking moron... what a great team.  If they keep it up I don't see how you could deny Nash the MVP.

Yeah man, but I highly doubt any team will sign him.  It's a shame, I really liked Scottie when he was with the Bulls.

The dunk contest was fantastic.

My favourite team was always the Indiana Pacers. I used to see all Indiana matches, in the times of Reggie Miller, Derrick McKey, Sam ''smooooooooooth'' Perkins, Austin Croshere and Jermaine O'neal.

But now my heart is with the San Antonio Spurs, because Im argentine and the spurs have 2 argentine players right now: Emanuel ''Manu'' Ginobili and Fabricio Oberto.

I still remember the John Paxson 3point shot against Phoenix in the 1993 finals, 6th game at the American West Arena

Yes, Tim Hardaway is a loser...

All-Star weekend was pretty good... I would love to be out there partying in Vegas with all of the players out on the town.  NBA definetaly does the best job of having an all-star event (NHL, a wednesday night game with no football on the weekend, WTF?).  I missed the skills day, I really wanted to watch the 3 point shootout.

Anyways, this was probably the highlight of the weekend...... Shaq VS Lebron in a dance contest:

^loved shaq's dancing, he will probably forever be my favourite player

ok, wayne newton is a big entertainer in LV but he was among the worst halftime eintertainers and opener

even though centers aren't what they once were I sure hope that D Howard can fill shaq's shoes a lil' bit

The All-Star Game itself has become rather lame.  Sloppy play, no defense...I didn't even watch it until the end just to see the score.

At least Kobe won the MVP.
