Mate of mine on another baord keeps saying we will know when its coming out because it will apear in a country like Germany for example on the friday before one of these tuesdays, and on the Monday before in the UK.

Who thinks this is true?

It is standard practise for this to happen but that would mean the US were the last to get it, after Europe and the UK.

in germany it IS friday; in austria (and i think in most europ. countries) it is monday... so 20 / 27/ 4 etc.

In Finland, albums are released on Wednesdays.

That's true, and here in Australia albums get released the Saturday before.

No its not... Worldwide everyone gets monday within 12 hours of each other.....

So since germany gets releases on fridays.. would they get it the friday before or after a 14th or 21st or 28? Thus telling us 4 days in advance when its coming out in the UK/USA

If I remember correctly Metallica's St.Anger were released on the same day worldwide, so I think it will happen with C.D. too!

Nothing about this release will be normal. I'm expecting it to be released on a Tuesday worldwide, regardless of which day an album usually drops in that given country.

can also imagine that; don't know if it's possible (logistically etc.).

I think they will try and do it that way, obviously some indi shops will put it out as soon as they get it in.

The title of this thread says it all. There is often just one, world-wide release date for albums. The only difference in time of release country to country would be a few hours.

Surely it wouldn't be in anybody's interests to release it worldwide on the same day? If countries have different release days it's probably got something to do with the way their charts are compiled.

In the UK albums typically drop on a monday and our official album chart is announced on a Sunday evening.
If Chinese Democracy was to be a Tuesday release in the UK that would be one day's lost sales towards that week's chart position.

Call me stupid but with all the delays and problems associated with the launch of this album it would be lunacy to intentionally handicap it further by courting bad publicity with an artificially low chart placing.

Yea that would matter if we were worried bout it going straight in at number one... but I dont think we should be....

Its more possible it'll sit top 10 for a very long time rather than top 5 for a shorter space of time.

Friday 5am in the Eastern US is a LOOOOOOONG way from Tuesday.

It might not matter to the fans but like I said this album's been a long time coming and needs all the good publicity it can get to appeal to people other than the die hards.

The knives will no doubt be out in the press around release day wanting Axl to fail and I can imagine magazines such as Kerrang for example taking great pleasure in labelling CD a flop if it doesn't chart sufficiently highly.

Somewhere like California is close to 20 (not 12) hours different from somewhere like New Zealand.

So could'nt they release it Tuesday in Germany then just a few hours later in the US, and similarly for every other country...? People seem to cling to the belief that albums come out on certain days in whatever country, but as has been pointed out many times in similar threads, that is'nt always the case  :beer:

99 times outs of 100 (or perhaps even more) it's Friday in Germany, Monday in England, Tuesday in North America etc.

Some albums even come out earlier in Japan. Like the Wednesday or something. The Friday thing is right, and I also thought it was Friday for Ireland.

None of this should be of concern to anyone until next year when we can start once again speculating when Chinese Democracy might be coming out, though.

I suppose im leaning towards the latter because this is a global market and if the album needs the chart positions to appease the record companies then it will be staggered as usual. However, there could be a huge promo campaign on the horizon that means the CD comes out the same day worldwide-its hard to see the record companies pov on this. Obviously as die hards we see this as a major event....record execs might just say "if its ready release it as is the norm and recoup some money" thinking it just to be another album. I doubt they understand the importance of this album (as we do). Or its been pushed back to '07...

Well, bearing in mind recent (but entirely fictional) events, it would seem to be irrelevant/academic anyway.

no matter what day its released you should be able to download it from i tunes no matter what time it is where ur at... Then go buy a copy later after the stores open!

I was going to post a new topic but i thought i'd bump this....regarding the differing release dates, we are assuming that the UK and Germany will get the CD before the US. Jay-z's album on Amazon.com is due on the 21st, where as on Amazon.co.uk it is listed as 27th (monday) not the 20th! so the US could indeed get it first.

i truely think that north america will have it first....sorry to those in other countries but you'll get it the following week :peace:

so wont't be surprised if we get album sooner to, more likely tho it will be released on same day all around the world

UYIs were released on Monday in UK and on Tuesday in US so I guess it wont be any different in this case..
