Title: Teenage girl does Sweet Child
Post by: W 23 AXL II on March 16, 2007, 02:57:35 PM
Im not sure if this belongs here, but times are somewhat slow as we wait for the album release. So anyway....I teach, and this is a student of mine, she's 18yrs old, and really likes GNR. She's dying to hear some reactions, as its going to be performed at a show at the school in exactly TWO WEEKS!

I'm playing guitar in it as well. Its also a half-step up, from Eb to E....so in total, it sounds alittle sharp from the original.

First of all that effect that sounds like it's doubling her voice was irritating.
Second, during the breakdown her voice gives out.
Third, if you played any of the guitars on that blatant karaoke recording, I'd blow you
Forth, the last few lines of vocals were terrible.

Sorry, tell her to pick another song.

i think she'll sound much better live, is recorded kinda like it would do her jutice y'know.......maybe lose the double tracked vocal?

she sounds good on the chorus, but loses it towards the end........sorry.

guitar tone is good

i played the lead guitar in the track, its a rhythm track with no lead guitar.....i recorded the guitar at home, and the vocals at school.

Well, I'm pretty sensative to pitch, and if she's going to do the duet'ish sound, she should do a harmony part, not the exact same notes, and do them in tune...  Besides that, pretty good.

I think she'll do great at the show at her school, providing that double vocal effect isn't there.

I'm ok with the dubbing, but do it in the same key/octave instead of this.
Also, in the parts like the one in bold: "She's got eyes of the bluest skies", she sings a slightly different note on both dubbing tracks. That is a definitive nono.

I'm pretty sure she can sing this convincingly but the dubbing kills it on this recording.

She has pretty clear problems when the melody requires her to go from higher to lower notes. Maybe it's just out of her range? I'd raise the pitch a step or two and see how that works out. She has quite an acceptable poppy voice otherwise.

I thought she was playing lead, but it's you.? Good job! : ok:

Her rhythm is good, it'll be great for a school talent show.? I dunno how old she is but maybe her voice just needs to mature a bit - it's kinda lacking now but probably will get better.? Tell her to just go with it and enjoy herself - and get really drunk beforehand! ;D

Love the thread title btw!
