This may be totally stupid of me, but if you don't ask, you don't know, so here goes, not to question the brand name, but every mic I have ever seen him with usually have a red sponge on them, is this just something that is added on to the mic by choice or something?  Reason for noticing is that if you watch Axl with his mic's in hand, usually when he is talking to audience he is always playing with the spongy part.

Do be aware before checking, the mic he used at RIR this year, he placed in his britches, apparently must have been a convenient resting spot ;D

The red thing thats on it is called a windscreen. Its just there to make certain sounds less clear like s's or the wind from whistling.

he always switch to a normal black cover for paraside city cause he knows he's throwing the mic later.
i guess the red covers must be special to him , maybe he sleeps with these covers.

I always use that red sponge mic. when I m singing. its not just accesories. but can reduce your voice.and also make you more cool ;D.

You can probably get it a little cheaper.  I have the Shure Beta 87 radio mic and receiver etc and it cost ?1000 about 4 years ago.  I have only used it twice - so if anyone wants to buy one....... PM!

Those arent the exact models. The one he uses has the little chord on the end of it.

Pretty sure its a Shure mic, possibly the SM57........... there was one in the Appetite for Collection section a few days back!

yeah it's shure sm57 nowadays but i like uyi tour mics more ones with red and blue filters  :love: , they gotta be shure brand too cuz he was in their ads since 88 or somethin'.

Yup, it is a Shure SM58 Beta. In 2007 they switched Axl to the Beta 58A from a standard 58 in part to gain a tighter pickup pattern that would reduce some of the ambient bleed coming from onstage. Along with the tighter pickup pattern, the mic allows for a truer quality in sound. According to Elmo Sheldon, the engineer in charge of Axl's personal mix, "The mic has a clean transparent sound; Axl's voice isn't colored by it in any way. His voice sounds like it should to me."

PS: CheapJon, beta usually refers to a version of an product that is made available prior to the official release for the purposes of testing. But in ths case, I think BETA is just a name to distinguish it from the standard SM58.

if i had his mic for one day, i would spend the entire day burying it in some desolate place on earth, and drawing a map.  Then only i would have it.

Did you catch that at a show or something?  or did you just buy and and are pretending that you have Axl's mic?

Ill admit, that picture is one of the coolest things i've ever seen.  I thought i was a fan......

i bought it from a dude i know who caught it as i said before, he had to sell it, he's a gunner too btw.

thx but this picture is nothin to do with the fan thing i believe,let's say i just tried a liitle hard, wuz just lucky to reach some sources and have good friends :) ,there're lotsa torrents,forums,fan sites and traders.

we're all good fans free from whatever we have ;)
