Post by: gnrfanxxx on October 24, 2007, 03:44:40 PM
ok, now we all know some of the ex-gunners solo material has some very good yet unsuccessful songs. what songs or song do you think would have been the most succsessful if realeased on the illusions? i think the top 5 that would have been hits would be.

1. Shuffle it all
2. Man in the Meadow
3. Wasn't yesterday great?
4. Superman
5. Head on out

Shuffle It All got quite a bit of airtime and video play up in Canada when it was released.  Didn't quite become a hit though.  Wish it had...

Cure Me or Kill Me is a great song, I would have loved to hear that as a GNR song.

i forgot to mention the snakepit songs because i thought they were a big enough band but id go with

Mean Bone
Serial Killer
Back to the Moment
I hate everybody but you
Dime store rock (i love the drums in this song)
Beggers and hangers on
Back and forth again
Take it away

in fact a lot of the snakepit songs are really good but lacked that bit extra (ppl will say axl)

They are in my opinion more timeless than VR (purely for the guitar work, and i play guitar)

Although VR have some GREAT songs but lots of pretty average ones too

Cure Me or Kill me was actually pretty big around here as was Believe In Me and Shuffle It All. Back when the local "rock" station played actual rock music.

As for would have been hits below are all songs i think that would have done well with a little support.

117* Izzy Stradlin, heard it a few time on the alternative station but it should have gotten more spins.

Queen Joanasophina - Loaded

Superman - Loaded

Jump In Now - Stradlin

There are a quite of few more, there are some great tracks on the solo stuff, it is a shame alot of it never got out there.

Actually now after i just listened to it , Duff's Beautiful Disease has quite a few tracks that could have done well on modern rock stations. It is a shame that album never got released miles better than Believe In Me.
