Title: The GN'R Community Post by: Giant_Robot on February 05, 2008, 06:03:06 AM When i first joined GN'R forums for the first time back in 2006, I thought the GN'R community was the bee's knee's and the fans were harcore in a good way but how wrong was i, The truth is that it is one of the worst on the internet because most members now just like to flame other members, they love blaming axl in every possible way and they think that axl owes them somthing and they like posting noobish comments on other peoples idea's. When i first join the community i must admit i wasnt a good member at all and failed to put any sense into my posts so i had a 8 month break from the forums and everything to do with gnr, When i came back i thought to myself lets try posting some positive posts or some constructive posts which i did, in the gnr marketing theard: http://www.heretodaygonetohell.com/board/index.php?topic=42810.40
The first repley i got was Quote Announce the release date, put out a single, release album. Well were wouldnt of thought of that would we, That is the majority of the GN'R community today and that what they post, posts that are shallow with no thought put into them ! That should work. Then on cd.com i got more dumb posts Like these : Quote hmm marketing ideas.. how about a fucking announcement, anything.. my braids fell out while dealing with the record company and I am now bald, see ya in 2012 as I must wait for my cornrows to return... Also Quote I thought we already had this thread, and sure, better than spam, not as fun as fake leaks. And he thinks they should play a show in china, a realistic idea is one thing, this idea is just fantasy. I laughed my self silly when this one was posted and just posted this: http://www.mygnr.com/bootleg/2002/Hong_Kong/Hong_Kong.htmlThere were other ones as well but i already got 3 examples and the list goes on and on ! Then i was talking to a well known member of the commuinty and i thought well i might get some feedback but i was wrong again it was all negative and very arrogant only thinking about there personal situtation and what they could or couldnt afford, and how GN'R doesnt need the money, That is a well known member of the community. Its terrible ! There was one more post i did with some ideas why digital downloading was good for cd and this is what i got: Quote Nope. I'll get it from my mate for free when it's downloadable and buy it when it's in the cd store, like most people. Typical and people wounder why axl hasnt released cd.Digital downloads are fucked. Not all members are like this there some clever nice people but there surounded by idiots ! Here Today Gone to hell is the best forum on the net because of jarmo and i hope he gets his forum the way he wants it ! without noobs on it ! Thanks Title: Re: The GN'R Community Post by: *Timothy* on February 05, 2008, 12:09:24 PM I am Sam
Sam I am That Sam-I-am! That Sam-I-am! I do not like that Sam-I-am! Do you like green eggs and ham? I do not like them, Sam-I-am. I do not like green eggs and ham. Would you like them here or there? I would not like them here or there. I would not like them anywhere. I do not like green eggs and ham. I do not like them, Sam-I-am. Yeah this forum is the best by miles !I agree Mygnr is terrible, but cd.com is nearly as bad, If axl thought the internet was garabage back in 2001 he should check it out now there isnt words that could describe what the community has become. Title: Re: The GN'R Community Post by: Jim Bob on February 05, 2008, 03:31:34 PM mygnr is a safe-haven for axl bashers and generally a slash propaganda machine. disgusting indeed.

As fucking annoying as mygnr is to read at times, it obviously has it's good sides. Atleast you can log in mygnr and be certain that if something interesting GNR related has happened you get to know about it, read about it and talk about it. in HTGTH, you don't have that luxury. Title: Re: The GN'R Community Post by: *Timothy* on February 05, 2008, 05:45:37 PM Can't we all get along?
Come on group hug ,everybody. Title: Re: The GN'R Community Post by: lynn1961 on February 06, 2008, 01:00:49 AM Awwww.......group hug! We need to do that! I'm there! (Wait a minute, who's touching my...what are you doing?!?)

Sorry! My hand slipped.:hihi: AFI, Yeah, The Jman keeps the BS to minimum here. Though, some of it still filters through, most of us will "have your back" when it rears it's ugly head. Fuck I missed the memo I listened to AFD today on Vinyl for the first time. Damn that Robin Finck is a genius! And then some patience :P Yes, this is the best place but also it seems Jarmo think that has be at the expense of being open/inclusive. Which I disagree with. Title: Re: The GN'R Community Post by: Voodoochild on February 06, 2008, 12:00:46 PM Funny how there are some posts here that does exactly what the guy was complaining about.
I agree with you, Norway, we really need to have some patience. :P Title: Re: The GN'R Community Post by: polluxlm on February 06, 2008, 12:32:17 PM People will be people. Kids will be kids. An inordinate amount may be both.
Title: Re: The GN'R Community Post by: ppbebe on February 06, 2008, 12:41:34 PM Kids grow up while grownups age.
First you must know that forums are mostly used by people between 12-17 YO, /relatively young people. Isn't that only great? if you think about that the most 'real' fans were under 17 when they jumped on the band wagon..... Title: Re: The GN'R Community Post by: D on February 06, 2008, 05:02:08 PM U know whats crazy
I was 12 when I bought GNR's last original album. I am now almost 30 and there hasn't been an album the entire time. I love Axl more than my own life, but to think he basically did nothing in his prime is astounding. Kind of like when Micheal Jordan left the Bulls to go play baseball for 2 years. Title: Re: The GN'R Community Post by: Kujo on February 06, 2008, 05:41:06 PM Its not sports. Whos to say when a musician is in their prime? Springsteen, Dylan, Rush, Ozzy, Clapton, The Cult are just a few artists that have put out some of their best material in the last few years.
Title: Re: The GN'R Community Post by: D on February 06, 2008, 05:43:07 PM Yeah but think of all the amazing music he could've done over the last 2 decades. Of course he accomplished more in the 5 year time span than most ever will but it is awesome to think of all the stuff and different styles etc he could've already put out.
Im actually quite fascinated with the prospects of an album in the vein of Oh My God. I think it could've been innovative and amazing. Title: Re: The GN'R Community Post by: Kujo on February 06, 2008, 05:57:27 PM I think you have a point but we cant really judge if it was wasted time until its all said and done years from now. There are bands that put out new material every year or two that would be better off waiting 5 years or so between releases.
Title: Re: The GN'R Community Post by: SLCPUNK on February 06, 2008, 06:18:03 PM I take what I can get. But then again...I'm easy.

Title: Re: The GN'R Community Post by: D on February 06, 2008, 09:40:34 PM I still cant believe you ate calamari from a gas station. hahaha, I didn't find out it was from China til later. Title: Re: The GN'R Community Post by: Kujo on February 06, 2008, 10:09:54 PM Yep. Kentucky Champagne. Known to the rest of the world as 7-Up.
Title: Re: The GN'R Community Post by: SLCPUNK on February 06, 2008, 10:34:07 PM Jesus Christ, Did u and Kujo wash it down with Champagne from a can? I was dubious because the label said: "Serve before Saturday". But it turned out to be pretty good shit! Title: Re: The GN'R Community Post by: norway on February 08, 2008, 04:38:42 AM Yes, this is the best place but also it seems Jarmo think that has be at the expense of being open/inclusive. Which I disagree with. Oh, right. Um, inclusive of who exactly? News-items, not persons :P Lets not forget that most visitors do not use the forums and uses this site diferently. So I and most others would like to see all news of significance covered. Instead of being selective if (that is a if) thats the new trend now. :peace: For example the "sex, drugs and rockn'roll" dvd, I understand most don't wanna promote things like that but there's intrests to know about it regardles. Also for so called "collectors" etc... I just wan't the site and news-archive to be as inclusive as possible and hope that is still the case  Title: Re: The GN'R Community Post by: ppbebe on March 02, 2008, 01:14:56 PM yea but this board doesn't support any rip off, don't you see?
if you wanna that kind of news, google will do. Title: Re: The GN'R Community Post by: ben9785 on March 03, 2008, 09:33:32 PM I agree that I like to come back here because most of the time people are sensible and reasonable in discussion.
I admit that sometimes I do frequent other forums like MYGNR, but only really to see what kind of rumours are going around. If I try to make any sensible discussion there I either get ignored or blown off as a Axl fanboy, which isn't true at all. I also appreciate that Jarmo hesitates to post any major news here unless it is confirmed by a reliable source or official from the band. Once the new album/s come out, I hope this place will be alot better, a forum for everyone to talk about the album etc rather than going at each others throats. The internet isn't exactly my life and I have too much to try to catch up on in my spare time to be hanging around a forum but nevertheless I like to come here and have a read through the posts a few times a day especially when I'm at work. Title: Re: The GN'R Community Post by: D on March 05, 2008, 05:33:06 AM Im actually glad Jarmo doesnt allow heresay and bullshit rumors.
Title: Re: The GN'R Community Post by: lynn1961 on March 05, 2008, 01:02:16 PM I think that guitar is rumor, D! ;D
Title: Re: The GN'R Community Post by: D on March 06, 2008, 05:55:34 AM ^
HAHAHA I just didnt like them better than the guitar I already have. I couldnt justify spending that much cash when the one I've had and put a lot of work into sounds and feels great. |
