Most bands do this these days. It helps prevent leaking of the album because you can just listen for free rather than downloading.

They say we'll be able to listen to the whole album on 20th November 2008, so tomorrow.

They said we'll be able to hear Chinese Democracy on GNR official MySpace. They used the word "Pre-listening"... but they didn't say if the song would be full or not. I guess it'll be full... but I'm not sure. Well, we'll see tomorrow :)

Nah i don't think so lots of bands do things like this these days. NIN streamed there last one on their site for a whole week before it was released.

I want to hear it, after I buy the CD Sunday, on my Surround sound system.

Fuck a shitty quality  MySpace version for the first listen.

Why butcher it into surround sound?  The album is stereo dude, that's the way it should be listened to.

And since I'm waiting till Sunday, I probably won't hang around here much after tonight. I don't want anyone spoiling my expectations for the songs I haven't heard yet (and the final versions of the ones I've been listening to for years).

I will be listening to myspace tonight. All the other stuff gnr has on there sounds great so I expect no different with Chinese Democracy. I also have a decent speaker set up for my computer because I watch lots of movies on it. Is the lack of good speakers on your computer the deciding factor in some of you not listening to it tonight? Becuz myspace's sound quality is pretty good, I listen to alot of music on there.  : ok: :smoking:

That's what I was meaning to say when I responded the first time.  I don't understand why D would want his hardware to artificially process a 5.1 upmix.  On mine, if I have a stereo source(ie. CD), I have the option of either listening in stereo or using Dolby Pro Logic, because the CD obviously doesn't contain the info necessary to properly divide the channels for a true 5.1 listen.  I can then either have the same sounds that come out of the 2 front speakers come out of the center and satellite speakers OR I can elect to have the system "approximate" a surround sound mix.

This is really fun to be able to be listening to the new cd.  I was 11 when Use I and II came out and am now 28.  Very weird.  You can definitely hear the differences from the final versions compared to the leaks.  Much better.

Chinese- Love it.  Love the intro.  Just a cool song.

Shackler's- Also, very cool. Has a NIN feel.  Love the chorus.

Better- Still is probably my fav.  Just really like the rythme of the song.  Very catchy.

Street of Dreams- Have always like it and like the changes

If the World- don't know.  Weird.  Don't know if I like it yet.

CITR -is cool cause I have heard the leaks but just really enjoy the new changes.

Scraped -is very diff.  didn't know if I like it right away but found myself getting into it at the end.

Riad -I don't know.  Just never has been my cup of tea.

Sorry- WTF?

IRS- Never been my fav but not bad.

Madagascar- Have always loved this song.

This I Love- Wow! My new fav.

Prostitute- Ok I guess.  Don't like the drum machine or whatever the beat is.

There has never been an album quite like CD

You have to admire the sheer audacity of having songs as wide ranging Shackler's Revenge, If The World, and This I Love on the same album

The fact that the album comes together as such a strong final product with this much diversity is a great accomplishment

and it appear that it is the first time he changed status on myspace  ;D everyone in his comments seem to love the album

One of his favorite albums ever is AFD.  He's definitely a fan.

Gosh, it has been a long wait.  I remember sitting at the House of Blues for that first Vegas show in 2000, and then at the Joint the year after.  That was such a great show, such a great memory.  Then, only two years ago, for my batchelor party at the Joint again.  I can't believe I will have this CD on Sunday.

Here are my initial thoughts on the songs.  This is all in comparison to other GNR songs.  When I say an OK song, I would still rather listen to this than the other stuff out these days.

CD - Good opening song.  Nowhere near the best song on the album, but still a good rock song.

Shacklers - Ok song.  Definitely not one of my favorites, but not a bad song either.

Better - Great song.  One of my favorites on the album.  Probably the best up-tempo song on the album.

Blues - Good song.  I feel like this song is so old since I have heard it so many times.  However, I think it is objectively a good song.  However, probably one of the weakest of the ballads on the album.

If the World - I like this song.  Definitely a different vibe, but I think it adds a different element to the album.

TWAT - I think this is my favorite song on the album right now.  This song is just great.  The guitar is just fantastic.

Catcher - I like it.  I think I will like more as I listen to it more.  I was expecting a little more for this song because it had so much hype over the years.

Scraped - Ok song.

Riad - Again, I have heard this song so many times.  I like the album better than the live version.  Ok song.

Sorry - Wow, this song definitely has the Pink Floyd vibe.  I like it a lot.

IRS - One of the better up-tempo songs on the album, if not second behind Better.

Madagascar - Great to hear the studio version.  Sounds great.  This is just a fantastic song.  It still sounds great even though it is eight years old to those of us that have attended the shows.

Still waiting to hear This I Love and Prostitute.  I'm listening from start to finish.

Catcher in the Rye, Better, If the World, and This I Love are hands down the best songs on this album.

This cd is awesome I'd put it right up there with UYI, its no AFD but hey no album ever will be equal to that imo. Rhiad is still my least favorite, but street of dreams, madagascar, and better are instant classics in my mind. The rest are really good too I just love those 3 songs all of em in my top ten gnr songs ever. I cant wait for a tour!!!!

I'm waiting until tomorrow to listen to the whole thing... but I did let the first 3 songs play since they've already been "released" (OK, and half of track 4).... and I already think this album is amazing.

Can you imagine what a tour will be like now that these songs are all fair game and people will recognize them?

after listening I'd say sorry is my favorite out of all the songs never heard before and maybe off the entire album.

Scraped, Rhiad not my cup of tea but may grow on me.

IRS was a standout as well with the changes made

CD, Better, TWAT were always among my favorites.

Street of Dreams, Madagascar, Catcher in the Rye have grown on me and will probably continue to do so

i have to listen to the others more thourougly including scraped and rhiad

Ok well I dont care I've waited long enough I was 7 when the last CD came out, I went to the listening party In NY and now listening on myspace and will be listening to Krock then listneing even more when i got the CD and vinyl this is my review

CD- Great opening song, kinda like jungle opened AFD, jsut great it sets the standard and says fuck you we're back

Shacklers-  Seems out of place on the album, kinda like a real wierd Nine Inch Nails song I dunno not very GNR

Better- One of my favorite songs great, its a classic that will be a household well radiohold name

Street Of Dreams-  Reminds me of estranged but in its own right, its great classic verses and meaningfull lyrics

If the world-  I heard the demo and loved it "your the only one i have ever loved, that have ever loved me"wow  my favorite part of the finished CD i believe has got to be the faded out "la la di da la di da da da di da" sounds real cool

There was a Time-- Great opening lyrics "broken glass and cigerates"  again a classic in its own right.  This will be one of the songs they will be doing or should be doing live at all their shows.

Scraped--  Awsome, kinda like axl sayin this isnt about me its about US as a band its about GUNS N' ROSES "dont try and stop us now"

Riad N' Bedouins-- Never my favorite was always kinda iffy about it, im sure the more i listen to it the more i will like it, i must say it sounds ALOT better then the demo

Sorry-- GREAT GREAT GREAT so strong and powerfull with alot of meaning behind it

I.R.S.- this song has been played since around 04, good song, not much to really say about it.

Madagascar- Wow , the mixes sound unbeliveable and when axl comes in after it with "I wont be told anymore" its very uplifting.

This I love- Is one of my favorites again its such a strong strong song with soft words and music just WOW listen to this first

Prostitue- Great ending to a great CD

IT was worth the wait id rather wait 14 yrs for a great CD then get a shitty album just thrown together for money and just 2 get it out, he worked hard on this and it shows

Sorry- WTF?

WTF?  One of the strongest tracks imo.

I love it. My favorite track. I kinda get what Bach was saying about it. Turn that shit up loud during the chorus and it does have a doom metal feel to it. Only during the chorus though. Sounds like some Black Sabbath's stuff. Really does. Absolutely love it.

Also love Catcher in The Rye, Better, Street of Dreams, and Shackler's Revenge. Didn't like Scraped and Prostitute. This I love is good but a little wierd and There was a Time is ok but does get really good about the 3 minute mark. The rest is good. The album is great. Listened to the whole thing and loved it as a whole. Will try not to listen again till sunday but thats gonna be hard...well I stopped and just put on Sorry again.

Fuck Yeah. CHINESE DEMOCRACY IS HERE!! : ok: :smoking:

Scraped = New Myspace song.

Not that anyone cares.

I am so thankful that the good folks from GN'R and MySpace did this for the fans.  I was really disappointed from the sound quality from last nights listening party, but I listened to the whole album all the way and it totally made up for yesterday.

I know a lot of tracks are "growers" but man, the seed has been planted.

So now i've listened to Chinese Democracy. Wow, unreal.

After this initial listen to the album straight through, i'm kind of shocked at how emotionally draining it was. It's an unbelievable album, and everything i wanted if not necessarily what i expected. It is such a sad and heartbroken album. It is genius, but it doesn't hide how lonely and confusing genius can be. It comes straight at you. It doesn't lie or posture about anything, it punches you dead in the eye. It is an album that knows itself well, that knows the expectation and myth of itself. It is upon only one listen quite rightly then an impossible album. It's strange to hear it because you feel like you're missing it. There's sometimes more song than my brain can process, and some songs that alone, blaring off a radio in the background of my day, would probably stop me in my tracks, here in their context i can't respond to them yet because i'm spinning from the others. They do run together and form one larger than life feeling called Chinese Democracy. There are parts of some songs that feel like time has just tripped up on itself, and that is the emotional reaction i had to the album as a whole. I feel as if something inexplicable just happened that has never happened before and i'm in a silent state of shock. Chinese Democracy, the impossible album, exists.

Tempting...but I'm going to wait two more days.

I love the idea. It's great to have music available for everybody on myspace, but eventhough the temptation is there, I'm gonna wait till I buy the CD on Saturday.

This has been a hell of a journey for me and I'm not going to take a detour. There's just one possible destination - at least that's how I visualized it all these years - and nothing is going to get my mind off that. For me, this journey will finish on Saturday 22nd, not any sooner.

On sauurday, I'll embark myself in another journey...but that's another story.

I'm so corney these days  :hihi:

HAHA

WOW

Street of Dreams is back to being AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Better than RIR3

Axl went back to the amazing screams at the end and added some lyrics!

WOW!

The Blues use to be my favorite but somewhere between 02-06 it really lost its power mainly due to axl changing the outro screams

Well! FUCK, I am still tingling after hearing it.

But I am working from home today, so I will be listeing to the mySpace release all day.  ALL DAY!!!  Yeah like i am going to get any work done.

I can't believe GNR are deleting comments on their bulletins defending them against the stupid haters but are letting the haters comments stay!

I can't believe all mention of an actual article released by the band is being deleted here.

I've been itching like crazy to log onto Myspace and listen to some of the songs. I tell myself that I'll just listen to some of the songs I've heard before, like "Madagascar" and "Street of Dreams," but I know if I get on that site, I won't be able to resist the temptation to also listen to "This I Love" and "Sorry" and every other song on the album. I really want tomorrow to be the first time I hear the album straight through, though. (Less than 24 hours to go now!)

How do you guys think that the ability to listen to the entire album on Myspace these last couple of days will affect album sales? Negatively or positively? I guess for people who were skeptical and have listened to the music and really like it, they'll now go out and buy it. But I think a lot of people would've probably went out and bought it just for curiosity's sake, wondering what it sounds like . . . But now that they've heard it, they may not buy it (at least right away).

Personally, though, I don't see how anyone could hear this album and not want to go buy it. I think these songs will have dug their way into people's brains over the last couple of days, and to continue listening to them, people will have to go and get the album.

Positively

The only albums streams fuck up are SHITTY ONES

Cause if an album sucks, u know it sucks and won't buy it.

Some people buy albums just to buy them, they CD sucks, u wasted your cash.

With streams, it eliminates the guess work.

So people will hear that CD is awesome and one of the greatest CDS ever made and they will be even more amped to buy it.

Cause  its like this.......... If the MySpace stream goes down like now, I am gonna be phening like a god damn crack head.

I MUST OWN THIS just cause I have to hear these songs over and over and over.

the stream will make skeptical people go buy it.

I've not been listening at myspace since getting the C.D. in my hands.  But are you really surprised?
If people can keep listening to a free stream, there's less chance they'll buy it.

Edit:  Well, there's your problem solved then.  Although I'm surprised if you can still listen to the whole thing on myspace.  Puzzling.  Doesn't seem like it makes good business sense.  But I know nothing about business.  hehehehe

if you only listen on myspace, you don't hear the instruments as well and all the subtleties aswell in a proper stereo

It is convenient, I have it streaming in the background, I don't want to go out to my truck and get the CD out of the stereo.

Yeah, getting the real cd is always the better choice regardless of album.

I must be too young, because I feel CD's are obsolete. I bought Chi-Dem at Best Buy and have it in a cabinet still sealed with the sticker on it. MP3, iTunes, Direct Download, etc. are all more convenient. I can play Chi-Dem on my cell phone without having to carry around a bulky CD player.

I can still hear all the songs on myspace...kinda nice, b/c my cd is out in the car right now....  I also noticed that i can play just about every song ever released by guns on myspace.  anyone else see this?

@alfie bones:
cds are good for cars, and even to just toss into the dvd player on your PC.  You dont have to worry about downloading it, or even messing with a clunky piece of shit IPod while driving. Ya just have to click the radio button up or down.  I had an Ipod, and it fucking broke.  was a pain in my ass...
plus, if you must listen to music 24/7 with your mp3 player, you've probably got issues (or a really good job).  I used to think it was cool to see people walking with ipod bud headphones hanging from their ears. Now i just hope the fucker is paying attention while crossing the street so i dont get blood on my clothes.  swear to god, that back in college, a kid got hit by a train b/c he was listening to his ipod while walking across some tracks.
