i'm sorry, but this list if fucking bullshit.  number four?  yeah, right.  whoever made this list clearly has an agenda, as far as promoting dio, plant and the iron maiden guy at least.  is there an email address for the guy who made this list?  i'd like to send him a little piece of my mind.  he probably hasn't even given chinese democracy a chance yet.

While this is great, very happy to see it etc, I can't help noticing that some of the bands on there look suspiciously like rock bands (it takes someone with an extremely 'easy listening' kind of ear to class Whitesnake, Deep Purple and Aerosmith as metal).  I own albums by a number of the bands on this list, and am rather dismayed! I thought I was a rock fan!

I was going to say that I think his placement on the list is well deserved, although some would argue the "metal" point.  Being named #4 out of 50 is a good thing.

Oh and Mike Patton ranked 11th is...laughable. You may or may not like his stuff but he is one of the most versatile and talented singer ever.

You'd think metal edge would have a decent conception of what metal actually is...apparently my expectations are too high?

I know all of us would like to see Axl as first on the list, but is a pretty well deserved 4th place,  Im happy for that!

Hard rock and metal get so blurred.  I'd have to agree that these polls make Metal Edge look "Knot Medal".

I mean wouldn't you name Chris Barnes of Cannibal Corpse as a more influential metal singer than say David Lee Roth, pitiful.

It is a strange list.  They should have called it "hard rock" instead, as its a broader term. But everyone on the list has influenced metal to some extent, so I buy it. However, Roth should be #1. Everything else is debatable.

I figured Ozzy would be higher, he sort of is the god father of metal right?


I really didn't think Led Zep were metal.....

Baz should be top 10, Seriously have the never heard Slave to The Grind? Who the fuck can outsing Sebastian when it comes to metal not named Halford and I think that is even debatable.

I think if it was just about singing then he would be, but this list seems to also be about influence and presence and whatever, which is why you have guys like Angus Young, Alice Cooper, and Gene Simmons ahead of him. All things considered I actually thought he was in a pretty good spot, just below Halford. Well above a lot of guys I would have expected to unfairly be above him.
