Title: Jarmo's Canadian Tour 2010 Blog Discussion
Post by: GypsySoul on January 10, 2010, 12:16:12 PM
Since his "Canadian tour blog" thread is LOCKED and this leg of the tour is gonna be something like 3+ weeks long, I thought it might be fun to comment on this awesome adventure Jarmo is sharing with us.  :D

I'm soooooooo fuckin happy for (READ 'jealous of') Jarmo!!!

According to a lot of posts in the different threads in the 'Tour' section, it's going to be really really cold in Canada but since Jarmo lives in Sweden, he must be used to the extreme cold and packed accordingly, so once he gets to Canada, the weather really shouldn't be an issue for him.

Unfortunately for him, he lives in Sweden and is (hopefully by now "was") stuck at the airport cause his flight is/was delayed for like 4+ hours due to the cold and snow!!!

If he can ever get out of Sweden, he's gonna think Canada is having a heat wave!!!  :hihi:

HERE'S TO WISHING THE BEST TO JARMO AND EVERYONE ELSE AT THE CANADA SHOWS!!!

HAVE AN AWESOME TIME!!! :peace:

You're coming to Canada early. Hopefully not direct to Winnipeg! haha. Not much to do there... :)

Since he's stuck in Europe, how "early" he'll get there is questionable at this moment.  :hihi:

Hope things go smoothly tomorrow, Jarmo.  Have a safe trip.  :)

Watch out for the taxes in Canada Jarmo. Went there for some shows a couple of months ago and really got nailed when I went to dinner with friends. I was amazed at how bad the taxes are compared to the states. Don't get me wrong Canadian brothers, you have a beautiful country and the people were phenomenal but the taxes are kind of ridiculous.

yeah, no shit dude. I'm Canadian and I think it's ridiculous too.

I'm pretty sure that Canada is the most Over-Taxed country in the whole world.

Wouldn't be so bad if the US Dollar was still worth something.  Back in the day you could get 100 Canadian dollars for every 60 or so America.  Now the ratio is about 1:1

Oh well, I still love Canada and hope I can find an excuse to travel there at least every year if not more

Canada pays less tax then many European countries.  Canada unlike the U.S. is not on the verge of bankruptcy.  I am not a fan of taxes but considering many of the States in the U.S. or on the brink of bankruptcy and if China every recalled the loans the U.S. would be screwed.

Im not pissing on Canada. Im just saying that it was pretty shocking to be charged 3 different type of taxes. A hundred dollar dinner came out to 150.00. Fifty dollars in taxes is alot. Had a great time in Canada though. You people sure know how to party. Excellent Beer too.

Yes it can be.  I wasn't insulted by your comment only pointing out that sadly the taxes we pay are necessary.  Don't worry I was bitching about our taxes last week when On a $3300 check I lost $1200 to different taxes and deductions such as EI, union dues etc.  (and no I do not make that much money it had a large 1 time a year bonus on it)  If you want to come to Canada for a party come up at the end of Nov to the Grey Cup week (Canada's Superbowl) it is just a week long party and will be in Edmonton this year.  I know a number of Americans who went to the GreyCup when Baltimore had a team in the CFL (Canadian football league) and have gone for 14 years now.  It is a ton of fun.

But anyways back to discussing Jarmo's travel blog.  Good luck Jarmo I hope you make it to Canada in time for the show in "The Peg"

Sorry to say, wherever you went you got ripped off. We don't have 50% in taxes here. In Alberta we have 6%, in some others there are 12-13%. The difference between the prices here and in the States is that we don't incorporate the taxes into the price.

Curious about the latest Twitter from Jarmo. Specifically the "(with pyro)" part. Will some of the smaller venues not have the pyro? It doesn't really matter to me but I was just wondering.

Well what I meant was, the GN'R shows I've seen so far have all had some kind of pyro.

Some venues have restrictions though.

But I'm assuming the bigger ones have less restrictions.

Pyro -> warm

Awesome. I was wondering about that prior, then when you made that mention it got me thinking. GN'R could show up with the house lights on and just their instruments and I'd still be happy as a pig in shit. Any thing extra (show wise) will just be a bonus anyways.

When in Regina...go to The Abby Restaurant downtown for supper (on Albert Street 2124 Albert Street 545-8811) or the Rooftop restaurant has good appetizers, bar food and drinks on Victoria Ave close to Broad Street.  Regina is like a town 220,000 people.  Ten minutes from Hotel to Brandt Centre - Evraz Place.

Regina has more restaurants per capita then any place in North America  and has the longest bridge over the smallest body of water.  (Wascana bridge by Wascana Park)

For Pizza go to the Copper Kettle Gourment Pizza at 525-3545 and location downtown Regina at 1953 Scarth Street.

Jarmo....Saskatoon according to the members of Buckcherry was the wildest crowd on their Spring 2009 tour in May. :o

Also the Cruefest tour last year in August...Vince Neil also commented on the wild crowd and referred to them as bad muthaf&*%?..I was at that concert but not on the floor and it was indeed pretty wild :hihi: :nervous:

I'm sure it will be showdown between Regina and Saskatoon as to which concert has the most responsive fans

Heh, so the rumors are true, but it's sixth ave and not sixth street? I actually just heard about it from a coworker whose son moved to Regina and she said he drove her by there going somewhere and sure enough there they were. Only hooker I ever saw was when one approached my uncle when we were in the casino a couple years ago. A casino that has excellent and cheap smokies, I might add.

But, thanks for clarifying the exact whereabouts for those who need to know!

I'd say that because he respect the band and that they have the twitter stuff going on, the band do their bit and Jarmo does his. He's always been that way, and to a degree probably a reason for Jarmo to be accepted into the inner circle, let him keep it that way. IIRC other forum owners have developed this friendship too, and why not. You can't believe the press and all they have to say. FWIW, rather this than anything we've had before, a mellow Axl rhymes with happy  ;)

Hey Jarmo,

Glad you're enjoying the sights in Toronto.  Get as much in as you can 'cause, and not to be an asshole, there won't be much to see in Hamilton tomorrow.  London can be a pretty town, but not around the venue.  A few suggestions while you're in Toronto:

Kensington Market (Toronto's best eclectic market).
China Town (close to Kensington Market)
The Museum (it just had a massive renovation, worth checking out).
The AGO (it's free on Wednesdays from 6:00 I belive.  It too just had a massive renovation; designed by Frank Gehry).
The Steamwhistle Brewery (right between the Rogers Centre and the Air Canada Centre - has pretty good tours and lots of beer).
Dundas Square is kind of cool; Toronto's lame attempt at creating a pseudo Times Square
C'est What is one of Toronto's oldest bars, use to be a stable I think.  A friend of mine works there, Christine (little blond), tell her Andrew Downs sent ya.  It's right by the St. Lawrence Market.
Another few good bars around the area are the Bier Market on the Esplanade and the Beer Bistro at King and Yonge.

Um, that's all I can think of right now.  Let me know if I can help with anything while you're in Toronto...

Cheers,

Andrew

Fernando already said it was NOT TRUE.  He was also right about peoples would still keep bringing it up anyways.

We did not advise any security to ban any sort of apparel....  If they did, they did it on their own accord, or under someone else's order - from within their management.

Can we squash it now?  Or should we discuss it for like 10days, then discuss about why we discussed it for 10 days, for another 2weeks... then, reignite the conversation on how Axl himself was at the venue doors, telling everyone that Slash linkings and/or apparel is not allowed.

This did turn out to be true but it wasn't GNR's fault or their management or even the security.
It was basically a bunch of fan's that had on Slash T Shirts and some said offensive things about the band.
Check the "Tshirt Debate" thread in the Dead Horse section.  Pretty interesting article from one of the security officers is in it.

I can't believe people will believe anything negative they read about GN'R and/or Axl. Especially on a GN'R fan site.
