I just watched the whole concert(again) on YouTube. I guess it's been awhile and after it started I was just compelled to watch the entire show. The energy is just through the fucking roof. I think this one particular show is just one of those rare moments. Lightning in a bottle, like just pure goddamn magic. I hope someday rock n roll will give another moment like this again.

Classic, I still remember watching in awe as a 15 year old...There was no internet/YouTube so for many it was the 1st concert glimpse of GN'R..

Sorry to hear of the director's passing.

Ah yes, the Ritz, February 2, 1988.  This was the ultimate damn show when I was growing up.  Using my trusty VCR, I taped it off MTV at the time of its original airing, and I saved the VHS tape for around 20 years before finding the uncensored version on ebay for sale.  MTV has long since deleted the footage from their archives, which was foolish because they could've made a fortune releasing that thing.

Is it confirmed that they "Deleted" the footage? If so, this is beyond tragic news. I have always held out hope that the Ritz '88 would see an official release

Yeah, and it's been at least 10 years since this happened, probably longer.  The only place you can find it is on the bootleg video/DVD circuit or on youtube.  Definitely download the uncensored version!
