Springsteen territory with the concert length wise

I dont know for sure but Jarmos post for intro came around 5 past midnight and the last post for paradice came at 03:17 (Nevada time) so its about that, which is badass.

I think midnight should be the standard show time for most rock concerts, instead of 8-9 pm.

Yeah but unless it's on a weekend or a place like Vegas

99 percent of people have to get up and go to work..not really feasible

And then there is after show drinks and some food at some point....might as well plan ahead and book the next day off so you can enjoy.

This was the best all around Rock Concert I have ever attended. Sound, energy, set list, I can't think of anything they could have done better. As Axl himself pointed out, he was quite loquacious telling several stories throughout the night. He really appeared to enjoy himself.

That was my 13th Guns show and by far the best of them all...that includes the 2 Alpine shows in 91 and Chicago 92.

I will write more later but am still taking in a 3 and a half hour show. Axl was super talkative and was sharing info all night. I finally got to hear Yesterday! Really loud, my ears are still ringing the next day . Can't wait for tonight !

Vegas time: show started at 12:05 and ended at 3:27!

Thanks for the setlist and pics, wow that seemed like one of the best shows in a few years! Glad for the fans there!

Fun show.

Wow. Just wow. Show was insane. I've never seen Axl that talkative and that into the show. He was on cloud 9, along with everyone in attendance. Best one yet!

In no order, he talked about:
1. He does not like the music they play by the pool and asked the audience if they did. It was a set up- few people said yes and so Axl said "so we only have a few assholes in the audience."
2. He is part Scottish (before the dedication song already mentioned)
3. He had a hiccup while signing and had to move it to the side
4. He was "putting my balls in a vice" by singing TWAT. He said afterward it is the "hardest fucker" that we do but now it is out of the way
5. How holding a mike is strange and something about how a girl in Moscow painted a picture of him holding a mike and then something about it was not a dick. I did not get that one.
6. How he feels like a used car salesman when he says "ladies and gentleman " when he introduces the band (in this case Dizzy). He then did a short bit as if he were on a tv commercial selling a car that is too high-priced.
7. Definition of "opus" after Prostitute, saying it was one. He asked Bumble but then made fun when he started rambling some nonsense. So in the end opus means nothing.
8. Told the audience several times it was great.
9. How he has nightmares for the past 20 years but seems to be fighting back and winning in them, or at least being defiant. Lots of symbolism there.
10. How he prays not to fuck up, but he prays not to fuck up too badly.

I may be leaving out some things but that is what I remember. He really talked a lot and referred to being in a talkative mood.

By the way, TWAT started with Axl off key. To me, he caught the band off guard . There was cue for Better, then a few moments lag, then Axl started TWAT and everything was off-his singing and the timing, everything
. They recovered in the second half of the song and gave a blistering version.

Overall that was the 6th time I saw the band and Axl never sounded better. His voice was very strong and clear. It was truly an incredible performance .

I am writing this on my phone with the tiny letters so if there are typos please forgive. It is really hard to type on the phone.

On to the last show of the residency tonight!

One last thing, I only saw one t-shirt for this residency in the hard rock gift store today which was sort of a disappointment. They had a leftover from 2012 and a generic (no date or reference to residency).

One last thing, I don't know about other people but the opening band does nothing for me. It's like a band of black teenagers. I was so glad when they left the stage . I felt as if I had just shot back in time to a  High school dance and this was all the administrators could afford.

Only the second half of the song was on point. As I explained in an earlier post, the musical intro was completely absent, the band was caught off-guard and expected Better to be played, Axl was singing off key at the beginning, and the entire timing of the band was wrong. It took the band a while to catch on. Axl finished the first few verses, went off stage during the guitar solo, and then gave a blistering second half singing "there was a time I would do anything for you." That part was so powerful that it made up for the erroneous start. But to stay that the entire song was the best version ever is not accurate in my opinion, and I think others who were there would agree with me.

Best Gnr show I've ever seen! Can't wait for the 3rd residency!

I was in Vegas Jun 4-9th... Saw the June 6th show it was amazing! Most talkative Axl has been at a show I've attended since 91/92 Metallica GnR Toronto CA.

I have seen probably 12 shows since then including Hammerstein !.... I was completely shocked that it was so interactive and by 3:00am was looking at my son saying "I think he might play all night"... To be in Vegas 6 rows from the stage in such a small setting, for 3 1/2 hrs walking around having drinks, bathroom breaks, space to stand and dance etc... was awesome. Vibe was great. Although I did notice DJ had an issue with a fan grabbing his guitar during a moment he got close to the crowd... drunk fan perhaps? no idea what happened Del was out in front within 2 seconds watching  :hihi:  DJ whipped his guitar and motioned "lets go"  :nervous:  who knows after that  - "You Cant Always Get What You Want" Axl DJ were gone for a bit ... was nice  -got  a picture with DJ and Richard just before the show - saw Frank and  passing through the casino too.  All in all was the best show in 20+ years for me!  ;D

Well, that's true.  I would not.  He comes to my town, sure.  I'm on it.  But to incur flights, hotels, changes to my schedule, etc?  No way in hell.

I believe it was at this point you got all huffy because, as you saw it, since no shows had been cancelled lately, that was not a realistic fear.

Of course, we don't all get our shit covered to go see this band.  The rest of us have to foot that bill ourselves.

I traveled on a train from NYC to Portland, ME and then back on a Greyhound from Worcester. Show was canceled. Still wouldn't go on and on about it or the reputation.
By the way, that's in the USA, North America. Not exactly in my home country...

Did you fly over to the US for the express purpose of seeing GNR?  Or was that something you did while you were here?

I'd absolutely go see GNR if its when I happened to be in Vegas, as I will be in 2 weeks.  But I'm not making a special trip for it.

I traveled to USA and then continued to Canada to see GN'R. Of course I used the time there to see things.
Even without the show in Portland, ME, I enjoyed visiting the city.

I've made "special trips" to Vegas with the sole purpose of seeing GNR.  The second they announce another residency, I will be making a third trip.  I have yet to see a better venue for them.  Big enough that they have their space and yet I can get so close and then before and after the concert you have Vegas all around.  Hard to imagine anything better as a fan.   :beer:

I don't understand picking on Vegas.

Me too. I also have made two special trips to Vegas for the sole purpose of seeing Guns and I do not regret a minute or a penny. In fact, I wish that I could have stayed longer for more shows. I would do it again--and will do it again--in a heart beat.

Correct that--I've made three special trips, and gone to both residencies. Waiting with baited breath for the third.

I personally love travelling to Vegas, from Canada.  Not only to see guns, but just to see the city.  I come down around 4 times a year, as is, without guns playing...

If guns does another slot of shows in Vegas, I would like to see them switch the venue up..

I have seen many bands in many different venues..  From the house of blues, to playing in the middle of a wave pool, to 150000 at the mgm...  Nothing really against the Joint....  It has just been played out for me.

I think it's all about the fact that it's at the Hard Rock. It kinda makes sense.

You can look at it like that.  And it is a very, very nice place.  Especially since the remodels a couple years back.

Personally though, I always stay on the strip.  So travelling to the Hard Rock, is a always a bit of a drag.. 

MB out of all the places, it is what works best for a residency though...  How the whole hotel becomes electric with guns energy running all over.  I like how they theme certain places in the hotel after the band.  It makes for a great experience, one I don't think another hotel would do.  For a residency....

But MB a hotel would..... And if so there is some great venues on the strip..

One of the best concerts I ever saw in Vegas was at the Mandalay Bay Hotel.  It was the band Weezer and they played the concert in the middle of the wave pool on a floating stage.  I stood for 90 mins in the water with waves crashing against my knees, seeing the show.  With bars all around, I never went thirsty.  Such a great show...

There are just many options out there.  The band just doenst have to stick to one, because it works very well..
