Title: NetEnt Announced New Slot at ICE: Guns N? Roses
Post by: jarmo on March 13, 2015, 01:09:10 PM
Published March 13, 2015

At the ICE Totally Gaming conference that was held in February of this year, NetEnt CEO Per Eriksson revealed the company?s newest branded slot game: Gun N? Roses?. Unveiling a new branded slot at ICE has become something of a tradition for NetEnt; last year, the company unveiled Aliens? and the year before that, South Park, The Slot?.

While NetEnt did not give away many details about the new Guns N? Roses slot, unleashing the name alone has created quite a stir. The Guns N? Roses? slot will be the first slot game featuring a rock band in NetEnt history, and Guns N? Roses is a colorful band with amazing music. They have sold 100 million records worldwide, have six number one singles, six number one albums and sixteen top 10 singles! The band members, Axl Rose, Slash, Izzy Stradlin, Duff McKagan and Steven Adler, will almost certainly grace the reels in the new game, but what special features NetEnt has in store have yet to be seen.

What is a Branded Slot?

A branded slot is a slot game that has been developed in cooperation with large companies such as Universal?, 20th Century Fox? or South Park Studios?. NetEnt has enjoyed a good relationship with all these companies, and as such, has been able to produce branded slots that quickly become fan favorites.

For the Guns N? Roses slot, NetEnt has partnered with Universal Music Group and Geffen Records.

Players Love Branded Slots

One of the most appealing aspects of NetEnt branded slots is the recognizable characters, whether they are from film, or in this case, music. In fact, in 2014, gamers played a total of 1.4 billion rounds on NetEnt branded slots!

Some famous NetEnt branded slots include Aliens?, Scarface?, Frankenstein?, Creature From the Black Lagoon? and The Invisible Man?. NetEnt is also planning to release Dracula? in April of this year.

This is cool.  But not sure how accurate they are about Slash, Izzy, Duff and Steven gracing the reels.  My guess is that it won't have any faces.

Unless they know something they are not saying they got the band members wrong.

Not if the Slot will simply feature the classic lineup.  ::)

Been looking forward to this.  Quit talking about it and get it on the floor!  I'd like to play it.  Any merchandise going to be available for this?

Thanks for posting that Spirit.

Interesting that they showed all classic lineup stuff.  Pretty big step for Axl to stand behind something that shows the old band (though in Gn'R world that probably didn't occur).

I love to gamble

But I hate slot machines

However, when I ever see this machine.   I am for sure going to toss in a couple of hundred just for the playing experience.  Especially if the nurse is close with some free drinks

Concept is cool, the delivery is confusing if we are supporting the current band.

Don't understand why anyone has to pick and choose, I have seen every real lineup of GNR and have enjoyed different aspects of them all.

What is the major issue some people have with this online slot promoting the classic lineup? Apparently it was signed off on, the only people I see complaining are a certain faction of fans online. ::)

Nice to see Jarmo supporting the classic line up again :)

He has always been supportive of GNR in totality, the only thing he has done (and I am in agreement 100% here) is to rebuke the random "fans" that insist one particular lineup somehow negates all others.

It's okay to be a fan of all incarnations of GNR, why choose when you don't have to?

Well, think of it more like you're supporting a brand rather than a band.

For example, the company might make Star Wars slot.

To me, SW is Luke, Han, Leia, etc., but there is more recent stuff out there that could be used. Either way, it's a Star Wars brand.

I guess what I'm saying is that it's sort of still GNR because you're tapping history rather than current events.

That's how I see it and it's a good way for the company to justify it (also, they probably make more money off a character with a top hat who is more well known than say a guy with a bucket on his head, etc.)

Hope that makes sense.

I actually think it's pretty cool the boys are getting paid finally

Many quiet years in the 90s and 2000s.

They may have got it figured out.....    Buisness wise.

I was working at the ICE event when this was launched. There was a Les Paul on display signed by Axl & Slash and they were handing out free copies of "Greatest Hits". The video is all the old line up. I think it's stupid if this has been agreed on. Why not use footage of the "Appetite for Democracy" show and push the current band??

Here's the photos I took.

Didn't the initial release statements say they were going to give away an autographed guitar?

Edit, found it. : ok:

http://www.luckymobileslots.com/new-slots/breaking-news-new-netent-guns-n-roses-slot/

The best news? The Signed Guns n Roses Guitar

And because it wouldn?t be a music slot without throwing in some rock memorabilia in there, NetEnt have announced that there will be one hell of a star prize to win when the game is released.

That would be the signed Axl Rose and Slash guitar you will be able to win.

How, what and when? Damn if we know.

But we?ve seen the guitar with our own eyes, and whilst our first attempt at making a smash and grab for it at the conference was unsuccessful (the blood will probably wash out), we fully intent on winning it when it comes out.

It makes perfect sense.  I agree 100%.

I'm kind of surprised Axl is rolling with all this.  But, perhaps we can add this the ever growing list of things that happen without his knowledge.  Although, in this case, it would actually make sense because its hard to believe he'd be all about this.

Chicago 1992 is, I think, just about the ultimate GNR concert from that era.

Pretty good setlist.  Long winded, preposterous Axl rants.  And generally top notch performances of each song played.

One of my favorite shows to listen to.  (though I do drop the rants from the playlist)

I wouldn't call it preposterous.  There was a lot of pain there and Axl shared some real insight into what was going on at that time in his life.

Let's put you in that building.  April 9, 1992

You've waited...I don't know, however the hell long for them to come out.  They finally do, and deliver scorching versions of both 'Nightrain' and 'Mr. Brownstone'.  You are jacked.  This is going to be awesome.

He then has the band leave the stage, and rambles on, for FIVE SOLID MINUTES, about how he hates his family and how the universe is pretty much against him.

5 minutes is long watching it on video.  Live?  Probably felt like a half hour.

Who does that???

But that's the thing.  That was Axl in that era of their career.  You could say it would be nice if they just played the songs,  but that is not an accurate representation of their live shows in 1991-92.  It was both great performances, and Axl histrionics.  It's Axl belting out a quality 'Live And Let Die'...but also yelling "take that motherfucker's camera!!" right in the middle of it.

Like I said, that one night is a great microcosm of that era of their touring.  Has it all.  It was all a package deal, and not like anything else out there at the time.

That concert, by the way, is just tremendous.  I can't think of a bad song that night.  'Coma' is especially awesome.  Dude doesn't miss one word.

Not really.

This is all about making a buck, and you are going to promote the most accessible aspects of the band, and the stuff that draws in even the casual fan.

You'd have to be living on another planet to not recognize the famous stuff from their prime.  So you lead with that.

I'm surprised Axl was ok with this though considering his stance on only promoting the current product. Business-wise it makes sense but as we've seen in the past Axl doesnt necessarily go with whats best for business. Part of the reason we love him though.

It does seem strange, I agree.

This is the same camp that was pissed at VH-1 for including only one 'Chinese Democracy' song on the hour long broadcast of that one concert.

But Axl did not want to release Greatest Hits..and that was before Chinese. Even if they show old footage why omit "Chinese Democracy"??

If you were to use the old songs but with the current line up footage from Appetite for Democracy would that not be the best of both worlds?? They could have been handing out sample cd's of "Appetite for Democracy"...It's basic marketing.

I'm sorry it makes no sense to me that the label is pushing the old line up in this way when all the real fans are waiting for an Album from the band we've supported for 15 years.

Reayj, it makes perfect sense to push the old lineup since that was the lineup that had the hits and one of the best debut albums of all-time.  The current lineup has yet to really establish itself.

I do disagree with DX, though. I liked it when Axl had his rants. He said a lot of interesting things. The last minute of the Chicago rant is pretty awesome.

The hardcore fans are a small group of the general population who listens to classic rock radio stations and sings along to Paradise City as it comes on in a bar....

Timing and length are everything, I think.

The sheer length of that first one in Chicago, combined with unleashing it barely 10 minutes on stage, really fucks up the timing and vibe of of a show.

On the other hand, the Warren Beatty rant in Paris (while also a bit unhinged) was fucking hilarious.  It was short, to the point, and at a time in the show that worked better.  Hell, leads right into one of the signature songs of that particular tour.

Its tough to hit people that waited all day/night to see you, if not been looking forward to it for the week beforehand, with all that mess right out of the gate.

Ever hear the bootleg from the first show of the tour with Metallica in Washington?  Huge rant about St. Louis after the first two songs.  You can clearly hear people on the bootleg saying to each other "Jesus, is he still talking about St. Louis?" and the annoyance in the tone is obvious.

But, later in the show, that probably plays better.  Perhaps leading into DTJ.

So what was the whole "guitar hero" law suite all about if this is all just the 'norm'. If Axl still wants to push the current line up and establish the new image this is not a good thing to launch.

I'm afraid it's about integrity. Something you've pushed for years Jarmo. If it's all just 'GN'R why not have this part of the forum open to discuss all members of the band past & present like at mygnr.

I've seen barely any advertising for 'appetite for democracy' and this would have been a great product to tie in with it.

I do disagree with DX, though. I liked it when Axl had his rants. He said a lot of interesting things. The last minute of the Chicago rant is pretty awesome.

Have you seriously been waiting the past 20 years to talk about every track u found      Its all rubbish

So in 1992 Axl said this.   But in 1989 they opened for the stones.   yadayaafa.

Put it all in a video.  Like.  Oasis.  And u have me.   Until then.  U are a bum

This place is ...

DX doesn't like this ...

Emily scolds him for it ...amazing how many different shows she has enjoyed over the past thirty years ...

Bacon man belongs in a rehab ...

It's on a loop ...

IF Axl even knows about this in any way ... It's probably because his hatred of the past is easing ... I'm sure his renewed relationship with Duff is a major reason for that

Trust me I have no problems with the dx poster

But the rehab won.....

Can't alway be negative dude

Can't alway be about how you have bootlegs

It's not all about you.

I am learning that for myself.   Trust me.  It should be all about me.  Haha

Personally think it would be funny if when you lose all your money Axl pipes up to tell you "I'm sorry for you / not sorry for me"

That's totally true but looking forward to the "free play" options.  I played some of their games before and it's fun to lose thousands of dollars in pretend money!!  I also want to play Terminator 2, Megadeth, and a bunch more.  I keep checking back to see if they work but hopefully in the next 12 hours they will all be online!!

Playing the game now, just for free though, no gambler.

Seems very well made, they've integrated the music in a cool way.

Axl, Slash and Duff are the only members featured as seen in the video.

The hardcore fans are a small group of the general population who listens to classic rock radio stations and sings along to Paradise City as it comes on in a bar....

/jarmo

Clearly the 6 billion people who bought CD way outnumber the masses of people (that 'small group of the general population who listen to classic rock stations) who were into AFD-TSI and helped the band reach its peak of popularity. Clearly. Yeah, you're not biased at all.

Clearly you're clueless.
Did you prove me wrong? No.

Using your logic, if I say hardcore GN'R fans are part of a bigger group called humanity, that's me being biased....

Keep crying about your threads being moved. I'm sure it'll work in your favor.

By the way, here's a friendly hint. Don't just look at the words on the screen. Read them and understand what it says before making an ass out of yourself. : ok:
