This has been such an amazing weekend, so do we even care about Coachella now?

Apparently, it's some hippie arts festival. I must admit this year was the first time I have even heard of that. I'm a European so give me a break for not knowing all the festivals in the world. But I don't think that's a very good place to make another appearance. The crowd will love this but too many 'other people'.

Then of course it was all settled before all this Nevada madness.

Of course we care.

Why would we NOT care about it, and the potential it may be streamed?!

What a ridiculous argument to have.

We do care.

And we know something, already posted on the Coachella thread:

Everybody now.... let's cross our fingers!  :peace:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOwhkVpwKn4

And seems like Sirius could also have the audio broadcast:

Leading up to the festival, the limited-run channel will feature music by artists who will be performing at Coachella 2016, such as LCD Soundsytem, Ellie Goulding, Sufjan Stevens, Jack U, M83, Underwold, The Kills, Guns N? Roses, Ice Cube, Discolsure, Zedd, A$AP Rocky, CHVRCHES, Halsey, James Bay, Calvin Harris, Sia, Major Lazer, Flume, Beach House and many more.

Once the festival kicks off, we will provide continuous coverage of both weekends with live performances, artist interviews and reports from backstage and the festival grounds as well as exclusive Coachella news and happenings.

I don't believe it will happen. They have a big stadium tour coming up, and Coachella word-of-mouth (from attendees) will sell tickets. A stream may prevent some people from leaving their homes this summer. Also, last year's AC/DC performance wasn't streamed.

Of course, we have our tickets and would love to see this performance, and G N' R history tells us it will be streamed. Rock in Rio, Rock am Ring, etc.

So..on the Sirius thing:

In the past, they have NOT had live broadcasts.  What they do is play certain songs, by pretty much all the artists, from their live sets..but NOT while they are going on.  Usually the next day, or, at the very least, hours later.

That may change this year...I don't know.  But that's what they've done in the past.

Should be out late tomorrow or very early thursday (the schedule).

MIGHT show up later today, but that would be unusual.

Yeah, I don't see a schedule anywhere, yet.  Keep an eye on the coachellalive.com site, and the youtube channel.  GOTTA be up before 3:30 Pacific, 6:30 Eastern time..because they start at about 4 PM Pacific, 7 PM Eastern.

I got an email from Sirius yesterday about their Coachella coverage. They had a program schedule for the weekend but Guns was listed for no specific time on Sunday. So I'm not sure if that means they'll be playing their performance from Saturday night the following day. They also mentioned they'd be featuring music from Coachella artists all weekend, so it could also mean they'll just be playing studio tracks. But why wait until Sunday for that? Anybody have that figured out? I'll look more into it when I get home later today. I can record through my radio, so that would be nice to have.

Well perhaps the times are eastern.  If Guns goes on at 1030 pm Pacific time.  It is Sunday on the east coast

They don't play full sets, typically.  Sirius will play select songs from the set..usually 2 or 3 from the bigger acts.  And usually not "in a row" but as part of the song rotation on the channel.  That's what they've done in years past, anyway.

Here's the channels:

http://live.coachella.com

Apparently they're only streaming 15mins of GN'R.

Edited to add: They apparently had the full schedule up before, but took it down. Some think it's because it wasn't the correct one. Hopefully they correct it and will show more of GN'R's set.

It actually says 12:40am-12:50pm, which is much longer than 15 min. Hopefully it is the full set. It seems that the stream is not live at all but delayed. I checked for other artists as well.

The "pm" would be an error.

GN'R are known to play long concerts, but 12 hrs 15 mins is a bit of a stretch, no?

If you click on the artist tab for GnR...here's what you get:

LIVESTREAM
Sunday, April 17
12:40AM - 12:55PM PDT @ CHANNEL

So, the times are wacky (and would indicate the potential END of their set, even if that last 12:55 is supposed to be AM) and there's NO channel info.

Seems off.

Yeah, some people in the chat said the full schedule was up earlier, but it was taken down again.

They suspect it was because it was a schedule full of errors.

They're definitely working on it.  The 1 (after Channel) has now appeared on the GnR artist page.  The times are still wonky.

Edit: Just checked the ice cube set...it's set to go 10:40 PM to 11:35 AM.  We KNOW that's not his "real" set time, given the official schedule released, sooo.......yeah...something is messed up.

Edit2: I would say that GnR is ON the schedule, at all, is a good sign they might stream a good chunk of the set...

Title: Re: Coachella streaming?
Post by: jc_seven on April 15, 2016, 01:57:34 PM
From what it appears to me, the stream is not actually live but delayed. All the set times are after the live sets but still span the same amount of time that the live sets last. The "am/pm" does not seem like an error just that the last spot keeps the set time open.

Who knows?  It could all just be an error. I am under the impression that the GnR set is going to be streamed.

Edit:  ah, ok. Just checked the Ice Cube page.

They must be delayed.

GN'R set is scheduled to end at 12:50.

The stream is scheduled to end at 12:55.

Makes me think it's a selection from their set, or maybe just the 3 first songs or something.

Well his leg did have an impact. It prevented him from running around and all that.

It had little to no impact on his voice. The shows were both great, with the 2nd night being even better I think.

It looks like Sirius is doing the same this year, so no live stream there either. Sort of a bummer, looking at the stream on the Coachella website right now it's great quality. Too bad some guy I don't care about is playing. Would be awesome to see Guns like that. Looks like we're out of luck though.

Just so there's no confusion to what I'm talking about, there's two official sources for the streams.

YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/user/coachella     (This one lists "Special Performance" @ 1240 on Channel 1)

Coachella Webcast: http://live.coachella.com     (This one lists Guns N' Roses @ 1240 on Channel 1)

I was just wondering why they didn't put GN'R instead of "Special Performance" on the YouTube site.

EDIT: Too bad they're not scheduled to stream the whole performance, by what I've seen so far the streaming quality is just excellent.

That is a shame, I'm sure somebody will stream some periscope links, no?

What do you mean? The official streaming site already lists GNR in that time slot.

A little bit of confusion here. What I'm trying to figure out is whether it is worth to set that alarm clock somewhere in Europe in the early morning.

Apparently we don't want to do that officially but there's Periscope of course.

I mean no alarm clock unless it's a full gig. No point in waking up for some song or two.

Going by the streaming schedule Coachella has put out, GN'R won't be streamed live.

There will be a streaming window for GN'R at 00:40 - 00:55 local time.

That would be 09:40 - 09:55 CEST on Sunday.

The GN'R set is scheduled to start at 07:30 CEST on Sunday (most likely we'll have to rely on Periscope for this one).

I hope it isn't the bad that said no to the whole show being webcast. It would be a great promotion for the stadium tour.

Maybe they figured a 3-song teaser would be the promo needed. Not giving away the whole performance, pro-shot that is.

It sucks for us, I'm totally on board with that.

Yeah, the quality is great. Up to 1080p 60fps. It is such a bummer to not have the whole GNR set. :(

Anyone has any idea of a software that would let me record the stream? I want to record this, if you know how, let me know, I'll do it and share the video with your all.

If you look at the schedule on the Coachella Webcast: http://live.coachella.com

The times there should be adjusted to your local time.

Believe me, it's harder than you think while it should be straightforward with some software. It's not. Doable yes, easy not.

Hopefully someone is on this already.

The stream works perfectly but very weird music and how on earth I could know who's playing. Never heard these before.

Well, according to the livestream schedule, the band I am watching now, the Kills, should have been off the stage 25 minutes ago.  Not sure how strict that schedule is.  I guess I am just being hopeful.

gnr couldn't make the money out of it anyway: axl has  a broken leg and sits down, would you really buy something like a a dvd? Cmon... :hihi: :hihi:

I'd buy it in a heartbeat!!!  ;D

absolutely.  If they made a dvd from Vegas I would pay anything they asked for it.  Axl's leg had no impact on the show at all.  I was right in front of the stage and kept forgetting Axl even had a broken foot.

A live album taken from both nights would be ideal

My bet is that they will play edited segments for promotion purposes...these hours after the show will give them time to choose maybe the best songs or produce a videoclip with several song fragments.

By "them" I assume you mean the streaming producers?

Presumably GN'R is still on stage and at the end of their set when the 15 min stream is starting.

How come LCD are given almost two hours (currently ongoing on the channel) and GN'R are given 15 minutes only? WTF man? On the topic above, I go quite often to festivals and if it is not specific with rock and heavy music usually this type of shit is what you get. Modern music and generation I guess. Fuck, I'm getting old.  ;D

Tell me about it. I promised to a friend of mine to visit the Exit festival last year. I was like what the fuck is this? Besides Prodigy I was thinking that I listen to the same music all over again. I'm 32, by the way, so no big difference. :)

Hahahaha, LCD are doing November rain cover. Or at least some lyrics of it.

EDIT: The stream is still on 15 minutes after the supposed end time. I guess they'll stream the whole show. The guy is watching the clock all the time and states how many songs are left. Currently they are doing Heroes of Bowie. :)

The bus got some quick repairs and tooled down the freeway.

That bus looked more like a sightseeing bus with the GN'R advertising on it.

Similar to the one we saw in the NYC picture.

Not really their "tour bus" is it?
