Title: Poison
Post by: Hammy on May 20, 2004, 05:41:36 PM
I know there are fans of Poison on this board and there have been little threads going round before, mentioning their tour and the release of Best of Ballads & Blues but i think they deserve a thread for everything about them, so anything to do with Poison goes in here.  So to start things off here are my top ten Poison songs;

1. Fallen Angel
2. Cry Tough
3. Home [Bret's Story]
4. Unskinny Bop
5. Stand
6. Nothin' But A Good Time
7. Wasteland
8. Bastard Son of A Thousand Blues
9. Your Mama Don't Dance
10. Stupid, Stoned And Dumb

Favourite Album: Hollyweird

And a question for Poison fans;

Q. Which famous Hollywood actor is a good friend of Bret Michaels and has worked on films with him?

Poison is good.

I actually had the pleasure of meeting Bret Michaels last year on Oct. 31, 2003 (his solo band played here).

Cool dude, super nice.  He took time to sign stuff and I asked him how he was feeling as I know he struggles with diabetes.

They put on a good show.

Cool, his solo album Songs of Life is pretty good i'd love to see him and/or Poison live,  One More Day is a class song off Songs of Life incase anyone wants to download it, go for that one first

I didn't care for the Native Tongue album with Richie Kotzen on guitar.

That probably was their weakest album. Aside from Bastard Son of A Thousand Blues, Stand & Until You Suffer Some (Fire and Ice) the tracks pretty much suck especially Richie's Acoustic Thang.............Richie Sambora he ain't

Yeah that is a classic i advise all people to listen to that song before they watch Bill And Ted's Bogus Journey it's so fuckin' funny when God asks them the meaning of life and they start reciting lyrics from that song

Poison rock!  People are always giving them shit because of the hair, the make-up, and the way they dressed, and they say that the music isn't meaningful.  I love Poison for all those reasons!  They're one of the best party rock bands ever; their songs just make you wanna have fun.  They're not trying to be the real punk or anything; they're just a good rock 'n' roll band with catchy songs, and I respect that immensely.  Sure, they're a bit derivative of Van Halen and KISS, but I don't really care.  They just make really fun songs.

I only own one album by them - Greatest Hits 1986-1996 - but I have listened to Flesh & Blood and also to bits of ...Open Up and Say Aah!, and I like 'em all.  F&B has a lot of really good underrated songs with a harder edge, like "Valley of Lost Souls" and "Life Loves A Tragedy", which shows that Poison can also be a harder rock band than just the glam image.  But their greatest hits album just does it for me.  It's got catchy song after catchy song.  I love "Talk Dirty To Me", "I Won't Forget You", "Look What The Cat Dragged In", and "Fallen Angel", which is probably my favourite Poison song.

"Every Rose Has Its Thorn" was one of the first songs I learned how to play on guitar.  The song is cheesy, but it did get me into Poison just because it was easy to learn.  And then there's "Nothin' But A Good Time" - great video, great song, one of the best ever about just having fun and rockin'.  I always end up humming it to myself when I'm doing my part-time job and it's getting me down.

I'm not so much into their stuff after 1990 or so, but they're still one of my fave 80s bands.  Very underrated.

I happen to think Poison are one of the best rock bands of all time. I like them alot.

I own:
Greatest Hits 86-96
Best of Ballads and Blues
Bret Michaels' Songs of Life
and I had Hollyweird until it was stolen.

From what I've heard they are a great band, and hair, lipstick blah blah... image yeah it was weird but they were good and C.C. Deville is a great gutairst that can really play.

Their best selling album is Open Up and Say...Ahhh

Their worst album is Hollyweird... that album had 3 decent songs...

Hollyweird
Wishful Thinkin'
Squeeze Box

Poison have made the worst comeback on a album ever. I hope the next album if their is one is better... because Hollyweird was terrible.

Overall Poison is a good band. They really show the late 80s time and fun.

My top 5 songs in no order are: *This is hard for me to do*
Every Rose Has It's Thorn
Life Goes On
Last Song
Talk Dirty To Me
Lay Your Body Down

I agree with all you've said apart from these Hollyweird comments i think it was a great effort by them and in my opinion the album was their most consistent ever they kept their fun have a laugh style but also seemed to be more mature, well maybe not, more reflective then.  I love all the tracks my personal fave being Home (Bret's Story)

Yeah I just thought that the album was a little weak in the hit area anyways... I mean they did tour a lot and everything but the album flopped.

I just thought it was a let down. It is okay... but a let down.

There's plenty of albums that were not hits wish were actually very good, these days Poison's fanbase is probably considerably smaller.  M?tley Cr?e's Generation Swine IMO was a great album but reviews and sales tend to disagree, i put it up there though with Dr. Feelgood & Shout At The Devil

They put on a good show for sure.

They get ripped on, but it's not like they are trying to be like REM. They are a fun band and should be viewed as such.

Great rock n roll band all the way.

Very true only thing is people in the music industry seem to disagree i mean Nikki Sixx has said he would never tour with them, he seemed to really hate them can't remember exactly what he said and recently Scott Weiland said;
You know, the guys or the kids there, the younger people there, are like dressing the way Guns n' Roses and other sort of 'underground' rock n' roll Sunset Strip bands dressed. I'm not talking about the Poison's... I'm talkin' about the Guns n' Roses.  You know, the real bands.

Yea they never got tha recognition they deserved. To compare them to GnR is like apples and oranges. Rock, just totally different kind of rock. My opinion anyway.

But there concerts (crowd wise) still do great after all this time. To me, that still says something.

No reason for them not to make another album they are still a band and they are not doing a farewell tour or splitting up so theoretically they should.

Poison's fan base is nowhere near as large as Bon Jovi's is right now. I hope neither of these bands ever release another studio album if they sucks as much as Hollyweird and This Left Feels Right.

I've never seen Poison or Kiss live before, but I'm going to the rock the nation tour this year, and I can't wait for that!!!

No one mentions "Something to Believe In"?

Poison is SUCH a guilty pleasure. I went to see them last summer. They were playing an open venue and it was pouring. SO... my girlfriend and i made a sign "Wet for Brett" (notice the pun) and held it up (we were really close to the stage). All the guys noticed it and laughed. It was cute and funny. We subsequently got backstage passes but ended up not going back.
I like Poison because the guys seem very grateful for all they have.

Dizzy, we agree again. Deep down we must be destined to be friends even though we disagree a lot.

Listen, there are many bands that are brought up here that I don't like. I simply don't post on those threads. People have different tastes and it is disrespectful to post just to say "These guys suck!".

Most threads about bands are more fan appreciation type threads then anything. So why TROLL them?

Back on topic...just recently i picked up Power To The People for some reason i had never heard of this album before.  I realise most tracks are live ones, and are not really special either but i think the new studio ones are great.  Even the title track while trying to bring in a bit of rap still keeps to being good and catchy like most of their successfull stuff.  Many reviews though slated the new tracks and basically said it was because of these poor tracks that they had no confidence to put out a whole new album and instead filled it up with live tracks.  Like i said though i think those new songs were damn good and i would of prefered more of the same, what does everyone else think?

According to a posting at his official website, POISON singer BRET MICHAELS Fender guitar was stolen during the last song of his set at McCools in Valparaiso, Indiana on Friday, November 12. "We are asking anyone and everyone who may know where it is to please return it to us," says a message at his site. "This guitar has a lot of sentimental value to Bret and we just want to get it back. If you have any information about the whereabouts of this guitar, please email us at bmelist@yahoo.com immediately with your contact information. As we have stated we just want the guitar back. Please contact us if you have any information." Michael's is currently riding the wave of success with his new country music single, 'All I Ever Needed'.

Wonder if there is a reward :-\ , can't see anyone contacting them the people who nabbed it probably won't and how the hell will anyone know it's his anyway.

The Buffalo News recently conducted an interview with POISON frontman Bret Michaels. Several excerpts from the interview follow:

Q: Congratulations of the birth of [daughter] Jorja. How is everything with her?

Bret Michaels: "Thank you. She is beautiful, she is healthy and obviously with me being diabetic that was the first thing we checked and so far everything is great and she?s just being a baby and totally healthy and that's a good feeling."

Q: How is your first born daughter Raine doing and how is she handling having a new sister?

Bret Michaels: "Raine is actually handling it really good and for this reason, I involve her in everything I do with Jorja so she doesn't have the jealousy factor going on. In other words, if you push one kid away the other one feels left out. She's just been so good with Jorja, so far so good."

Q: The one question that POISON and Bret Michaels fans are wanting to know is why the change from metal to country with your new solo record?

Bret Michaels: "The first thing to address is that it's not really a change, it's not that big of a departure from what I did on 'Songs of Life', my first solo record. Obviously I'm a huge rock fanatic that also loves country music. I grew up listening to country with my father when I was young. If you listen to any of the POISON songs, you hear those influences. This album is not a country album, this is a rock record with what I consider some good, contemporary southern rock and country songs on it. So it's not like all of a sudden your going to pick it up and say, 'Wait a minute, he never played any of this stuff before.' 'Open Road' is not that much different than 'Fallen Angel' and 'All I Ever Needed' is not that much different from 'Every Rose Has Its Thorn'. It's really not that big of a departure."

Q: Now you say you?re a rock fanatic and in 2004 you guys went on tour with one of your personal favorites, KISS. Did it exceed it your expectations?

Bret Michaels: "Let me tell you, on two levels. I been friends with Gene and Paul for a pretty long time and obviously I love KISS and here is what's great about it. Not only did they treat us great, as a band they treated us great, they were very respectful but what was also cool about it, to me, they were great to my little girl Raine, I had her out with me on the road for a couple of shows and they treated her great. I have the best picture of Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons picking her up and walking around with her in full makeup, and she has a KISS 'Destroyer' shirt and Gene and her are looking at each other and they both have their tongues out and the metal hands up. So on a personal level and a professional level it was great. But the most important thing, when POISON finished our set there wasn't one night I missed, I went up and watched KISS play every night and I was thinking, I would be paying to do this if I wasn't doing this. How many people can say that they get paid for watching their favorite band play?"

Q: What was your initial reaction when you heard about the murder of Dimebag Darrell from PANTERA and DAMAGEPLAN?

Bret Michaels: "Actually I was extremely close to Vinnie [Paul, Darrell's brother]. It was pretty devastating for me. What kills you was that it was such a waste. What an idiotic stupid thing. Now it scares people to have backstage parties and do stuff. It was such a waste."

Q: What's the future for POISON? Next year will be your 20th anniversary for POISON right?

Bret Michaels: "Yeah, let me put it this way. I'm someone that loves to play the hits, you have to always play the hits but I also want to continue to write new material. And next year Capitol Records is going to release a huge box set with all of our stuff from 1986 to 2006 and a bunch of stuff that has never been heard or seen before and we're going to go out and have a great 20th anniversary tour. I always want to state this to POISON fans: in no way, shape or form do I ever want to leave the band. I love doing solo stuff but I can do both and make both work. This summer of 2005 we decided that all four of us need a break and to come out with our 20th and do something special."

Q: What are your thoughts on downloading from the Internet? Are you for it or against it?

Bret Michaels: "I'm mixed. Here's my feeling. As an artist, I feel we owe the fans at least the ability to download a couple things for free. To hear a couple of the songs, check out the record before they buy it. But on the flipside, I think that if the fans like what they hear they should go out and pay a reasonable price for the record. With me at BretMichaels.com, I try to give say here's a video, here's a song, here's some clips. I surely don?t want them to buy it, go home and say, 'Hey this sucks.' I want them to know what they will be getting."

Q: POISON was bigger then most "hair bands" of the time obviously, how do you think you guys achieved this and how do you think you stood out more then any other glam band of the time?

Bret Michaels: "No matter what happened with our band, we were always passionate when we hit the stage. In other words we had plenty of train wrecks off the stage but when we hit that stage we were passionate and gave it everything he had. Number two, I think we had good solid songs. Without good songs, it doesn't matter if you're NIRVANA, METALLICA or POISON, no one is going to come and see you. We have passion for what we do and had a great stage show. And I think most importantly, no one could quite put their finger on POISON. We were a glam band but we were really, really great to the fans."

I'm hoping for a big year from Poison in 2006.  I think they're seeing the success Motley Crue is having right now and they realize they could be doing close to the same thing right now.  Hollyweird was a good album, so I'm looking forward to another studio release.  And of course I'm looking forward to that 20th Anniversary tour.  They put on a great show.  People I know who really don't like them as a band still enjoy their live show.  And with the whole 20th anniversary thing going I'm sure they're gonna put out all the stops.

Yeah, the live show is the main attraction when it comes to Poison.  I think people overlook that they have some really good songs too.  They're one of my favorite bands (Top 10), and I think Bret is a good songwriter.  Especially on some of the later albums.  Native Tongue, Crack A Smile, Hollyweird...those are good albums that don't get any attention cause they don't have any of the hits on them.

They're in my Top10 aswell, i've been going on about Hollyweird for ages in this thread, it's a really great album.  I would say Bret Michaels is awesome at songwriting they are great at what they do.....writing catchy pop-rock songs.  I long to see them live though, never had the opportunity here in the UK since i've been a fan.

Poison guitarist C.C. DeVille spent some hours in a Los Angeles-area jail Sunday night/Monday morning after being arrested by LAPD officers responding to a domestic violence call.
DeVille, whose real name is Bruce Johannesson, was arrested at 10:30pm on Sunday August 21st and booked at 3:40am Monday, August 22nd on a charge of felony Corporal Injury On a Spouse or Cohabitant.

DeVille posted $50,000 bail and was released from the LAPD Van Nuys Jail at 7:42am Monday.

Deville must appear in court Monday, September 12th at 8:30am to officially hear the charges against him and to make a plea.

Poison guitarist, C.C. DeVille issued this statement to Metal Sludge, regarding his Sunday night arrest in Los Angeles:
"I regret that this has happened. I just want everyone to understand that the first write up, by Ms. Malone was false. The facts are: I was in my home with my new girlfriend. Ms. Malone, whom I dated previously, entered my home. She attacked me and I did not retaliate. I do not hit women and I do not believe in violence! Ms. Malone has done this before. She made up false charges and I was arrested. She later dropped the charges. My girlfiend, in an effort to pull Ms. Malone from me, was then attacked with a chair. She sustained several cuts and bruises. Once Ms. Malone was close to the door, I pushed her out and she left. My girlfriend did scratch Ms. Malone, in the act of defending herself.

Anytime that a domestic dispute is filed... a police report is made and the outcome is determined in court. Yes, I went to the Van Nuys jail, that is procedure. I am filing charges of my own and we will let the wheels of justice settle this!

I do not wish ill feelings on Ms. Malone. She is upset over the break up and is not in a stable mental state. She has a criminal record herself and I know that this incident will be seen for what it really is... a cry for help and attention!

C.C. Deville

Here's to hoping he is proved innocent and that a new Poison album is on the way.

Of new material....Hollyweird [2002], and despite what most say i rate the album, their last actual album release was Best of Ballads & Blues [2003] which is fairly decent, your best starting off with Poison's Greatest Hits: 1986-1996 or Look What The Cat Dragged In [1986] : ok:

Good point, Nixon.  You never hear anything about Native Tongue or Crack A Smile, and they're both excellent albums.  I disagree with you on Hollywierd though.  I don't own that one, but I have heard it and I liked it.  Flesh And Bllod too is underrated.  I personally think its their best album.  Let It Play is such an awesome song.  I don't know why they never play it live.

The Associated Press is reporting that POISON guitarist C.C. DEVILLE was sentenced to 80 days in jail after pleading no contest to driving while intoxicated. Deville, 43, whose real name is Bruce Johannesson, was also ordered by a Superior Court commissioner to serve five years probation, pay a $1,000 fine and surrender his license for a year, city prosecutors said Monday. Prosecutors say Deville hit a parked vehicle August 24th while he was backing out of the driveway of his girlfriend's home. He allegedly rammed another parked car, deploying his vehicle's air bags and injuring his girlfriend. Police later found him near his vehicle close to the scene of the second accident, prosecutors said. He pleaded no contest last Friday to a charge of driving under the influence causing injury, authorities said. This news comes only a day after reports that Deville's home was burglarized, with several guitars and amps having been stolen.
Let's hope he gets himself sorted out, i want a new goddamn album!

The Associated Press is reporting that POISON singer Bret Michaels escaped serious injury after shots were fired at his tour bus last night (Nov. 21), his publicist confirmed.

Michaels was on his bus in Chicopee (CHIK'-oh-pee), Massachusetts, where he was performing a solo show. According to the publicist, witnesses said someone in another vehicle fired at the bus while Michaels was still on it. Michaels was struck in the face by broken glass but was not seriously hurt.

The publicist says police do not believe it was a random drive-by shooting because the shots were fired directly into the living quarters at the rear of the tour bus.

Michaels says in a statement that it will take more than what he calls "a cowardice act like this" to make him stop performing.

Michaels will perform as scheduled tonight in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and tomorrow in Cincinnati.

Just to update on the story;

POISON lead singer BRET MICHAELS will remain on tour despite being the target of a drive-by shooting November 21, in Chicopee, Massachusetts. The multi-platinum artist was in town to perform a rare, invitation-only acoustic show, when, prior to the show, shots were fired from a white Ford F-150 while Michaels was still on the tour bus, according to witnesses. Michaels was struck in the face by flying broken glass, but escaped serious injury. According to Michaels' management office, HK Management in Los Angeles, this is not the first police or federal investigation that Michaels has been at the center of. Throughout his career, Michaels has been the target of numerous death threats investigated by the FBI. A person identifying himself as Mark Kram fired 9 mm bullets through photos of Michaels and mailed them, along with threatening notes to several arenas in which Michaels was scheduled to perform. Investigators believe the suspect in that particular case lives in the Northeastern United States. The police were also called to investigate when a tire came off of the truck that Michaels was driving after attending a concert in California. In that case, someone had loosened the lug nuts on the vehicle, causing Michaels to wreck in the middle of a busy freeway following the event.

On October 24th, 2005, the home of rock guitarist C.C. DEVILLE was broken into and over 30 pieces of equipment were stolen. A concentrated effort lead by the LAPD's Van Nuys Burglary Division, Planet Deville and VH-1 came to a culmination with the arrest of the thief at the Ranchero Cucamonga Guitar Center on December 8th, 2005. Giorgio Alessandro Trabucco of Van Nuys California was arrested while attempting to sell C.C.'s Les Paul Jr to Guitar Center. An employee, who had been alerted earlier in the day that his location was in possession of pieces stolen from C.C., quickly called Johannessongs and the Cucamonga Police. Trabucco was arrested in the store within minutes. Subsequent search of Trabucco's home turned up other pieces of the guitarists equipment.

POISON, one of hard rock's most iconic, enduring and controversial bands, celebrates 20 years in 2006. With the band's most recent studio album, "Hollyweird", along with "Poison Greatest Hits", which just reached double platinum, and their gold-certified "Greatest Video Hits" DVD, POISON continues on with a do-it-yourself attitude, also touring to sold-out venues around the world. Following a 2003 VH1-sponsored tour, POISON co-headlined a national tour with KISS in 2004.

POISON's 20th anniversary world tour will take the band to major concert venues around the globe this summer. Tour dates and line-up details will be announced and posted to the band's official website as they develop. POISON, one of rock's most iconic and enduring bands, has recorded a new album of cover songs, featuring many of their favorite rock classics. "Poison'd", the band's first new studio album since 2002, will be released June 5 on CD and digitally by EMI America Records/Capitol.

Featuring POISON's original members, Bret Michaels (vocals), C.C. DeVille (guitar), Rikki Rockett (drums) and Bobby Dall (bass), "Poison'd" presents the band's first new studio recordings since 2002's "Hollyweird". Produced by Don Was at Hensen Recording Studios in Hollywood, "Poison'd" packs 13 explosive tracks, including new recordings of DAVID BOWIE's "Suffragette City", THE CARS' "You're Just What I Needed", THE ROMANTICS' "What I Like About You", SWEET's "Little Willy", THE MARSHALL TUCKER BAND's "Can't You See" and THE ROLLING STONES' "Dead Flowers". Some of POISON's best previously recorded covers are also featured on "Poison'd", including KISS' "Rock and Roll All Nite", GRAND FUNK RAILROAD's "We're An American Band" and LOGGINS AND MESSINA's "Your Mama Don't Dance".

"POISON is one of the greatest rock 'n roll bands in the world and, after 20 years, they can slam better than ever," says "Poison'd" producer Don Was. "They're powerful musicians and very cool guys. Following the release of "Poison'd", POISON will hit the road again on June 12 for a major North American summer concert tour. Tour dates and details will be announced and posted to the band's official website as they are confirmed.

In July, VH1 will premiere a new reality show, "Rock of Love with Bret Michaels". VH1's description of the show has "the hard-rockin' POISON front man looking for a woman who can truly keep up with his rock-n-roll lifestyle and not become jealous of his one true passion ? performing, which has been the reason for and destruction of most of his relationships."

"Poison'd" (CD and Digital Album) (not final sequence) track listing:

02. Suffragette City (DAVID BOWIE)

Axl changed and moved into delving into different music  with a different line up in his band.... so i dont see the similarities.

The tour, which brings POISON and RATT onstage together for the first time since 1999, will visit amphitheaters, festivals and fairs in such cities as Boston, Detroit, New York, New Jersey and Los Angeles, says Troy Blakely, who books POISON with the Agency for the Performing Arts.

"Generally we're going to play 50-60 dates," Blakely tells Billboard.com. "I'd say 30-35 are sheds. The rest are various festivals, fairs and indoor shows."

Confirmed festivals thus far include Birmingham, Ala.'s City Stages (June 16), Bay City, Mich.'s Bay City River Roar (June 22), Pryor, Okla.'s Rocklahoma (July 13) and Sturgis, S.D.'s Buffalo Chip (Aug. 5).

Anyone remember what happened at the end of the last tour with Bret and CC having that fight onstage?

Ratt coming to Buffalo Chip
STURGIS -- The glam metal band Ratt will be playing the Legendary Buffalo Chip Campground Sunday, Aug. 5, during this year's Sturgis motorcycle rally.

The band includes original members Stephen Pearcy, Warren DeMartini, Juan Crocier, Bobby Blotzer and John Corabi. Ratt will perform the night after Poison, which plays at the Chip on Saturday, Aug. 4. The two bands formerly toured together.

Ratt has sold more than 18 million records worldwide, according to a news release from the Buffalo Chip, making Ratt "a rock icon from the 1980s."

The band has had several radio hits such as "Round and Round," "Wanted Man," "Back for More," "Lack of Communication" and "I'm Insane."

Also scheduled for the Chip is Toby Keith on Monday, Aug. 6.

Do you know Juan?? I dont think so!! Every source has said Juan was still negotiating the terms with them.

I dont know why you think you know if Juan is a part of this or not. He DOESNT hate all the members like you said he does. He toured with pearcy last summer with his solo band.

What a waste of John Corabi's talents...

RATT is one band that actually lost momentum and fans with each successive album, as each album was a step down from the one before, except for Dancing Undercover.

As for the Poison covers album, I think it's a cool idea. However, it's pretty lame that they are including past cover songs, dating back to the late 80s. Were they that lazy that they couldn't just record a few additional songs to round out the album?

Actually, I think their first 4 were steps up from the last few. they kinda lost momentum starting with reach for the sky.

Ratt[EP]- great cd
Out of the cellar-even better
Invasion of your privacy-even better than ootc
Dancing undercover-as good as OOTC
Reach for the sky-starting to go down
Detonator-worst cd, produced by desmond child, so its expected

But, EACH ratt cd AT LEAST went platinum in the 80s.

The only reason Poison is doing a covers album according to Rikki rocket is because the record company told them to. They wanted to do a new cd, but the record company said to do a covers album first.

According to Metal Sludge, WHITE LION has been added to the POISON/RATT summer tour, which is tentatively scheduled to kick off June 12. This information, however, has not yet been confirmed by an official source.

The current touring version of WHITE LION (a.k.a. TRAMP'S WHITE LION) features original member Mike Tramp (vocals) alongside Claus Longwood (bass), Troy Patrick Farrell (drums), Jamie Law (guitar), and Henning Wanner (keyboards).

i've been slammed a zillion times for it, but i am a big Poison fan.
i'm both excited and nervous that Poison is releasing an album of covers only.

Poison does some killer covers, but i hope they follow this cover album up with an album of new, original recordings.  i'd hate for them to take on the label of 'cover band'.  there is a lot of talent in Poison!!

on another note, i have always wanted Poison to cover America's "You can do Magic".  i think it'd be cool to hear Bret sing those lyrics, and i'd like to see CC pop-metal that song up nicely!

 :hihi: You and me both.

I think people's main problem is they take some music to seriously, Poison are a great party rock band, always fun and enjoyable.  It's like movies, you don't always want to see logn drawn out drama's, sometimes you want a fun no brainer, that's where Poison comes in, always enjoyable but they are never going to win any awards either but fuck why does everyone want to be taken so seriously anyway?...

I'm a massive Tom Petty fan so i'm interested in hearing their take on "I Need To Know", it's a cracking tune.  It's a shame they are only doing a covers album but it's better than nothing, i just wish they'd come and tour here in the UK.  Hopefully we will get an album of new material in the not so distant future, i was one of the few people who was a fan of their last offering Hollyweird....

I did buy the Poison'd album. I check it out, listened to it through. I got the non-walmart version because they wanted 14 bucks for it, but it did include "Sexyback" but Timberlake. I went to another store and got the same album for 10 bucks -"Sexyback". It's 13 songs, which 5 of them we've heard before. 1 is off Hollyweird, 1 is off of I think Flesh n Blood and the other is off a soundtrack they did int he 80s the other 2 are on the 20th anniv.

So you've really just getting 8 new songs of COVERS. It is an ok set, but I was dissapointed. The Alice Cooper cover and the Tom Petty cover are the only real songs I liked. I'm selling it on ebay. Not worth the 10 dollar investment.

The best Poison album right now is the 20th anniversity. It shows everything they got, plus a couple fun covers. I would get that if you wanna get into them.

If you're hardcore then get Open Up and Say Ahhhh

I assume you're kidding about "Sexyback". (yuck, my fingers hurt just typing that...lol)  i got the Target version and there ain't no Sexyback on it. ;)

i wouldn't have chosen most of these songs for Poison to cover, but they cover the songs very well, imo.

i agree with you, the Alice cover for "I'll Never Cry"(which is awesome) and the Tom Petty cover for "I Need To Know" are the best songs on the new album.  Bret sounds fantastic on these songs, and CC adds his special touch to them and Poisons em up great! :)  another song worth noting is "Can't You See"- Marshall Tucker Band cover.  i never cared much for this song until I heard Bret sing it on this album.  Bret sounds incredibly sexy on this song!

all in all, it's a fun album, but i hope they put out some original material within the next year or two.

Michaels: Poison ready for another good time on the road this summer

Poison has long been considered the greatest glam or hair band of the ?80s, but the group is more than that. It is a great rock ?n roll band.

Poison released its newest CD ?Poison?d!? this week. The disc is full of great classic hits recorded in true Poison fashion, including songs originally recorded by David Bowie, the Rolling Stones, The Cars, Sweet, KISS, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and more.

The band will embark on a 50 city tour of the United States this summer in support of the its first album of new material since 2002. Ratt, featuring original members Stephen Pearcy, Warren Demartini and Bobby Blotzer, will join Poison on tour for the first time since 1999.

The opening act was originally slated to include White Lion, which has since been replaced with Vains of Jenna because of legal issues.

Poison vocalist Bret Michaels has been a busy man. He has just finished filming his new reality show, ?Rock of Love with Bret Michaels? for VH-1 and took a break from recording commentary for the show to talk about the new album and upcoming tour.

?First off, I want to say I really wanted to go in and record an album of new, original material,? Michaels said during a telephone interview. ?The band and I talked about this, but Bobby (Dall) looked at me and said he knew I was doing my new show for VH-1, and some solo stuff and that we wouldn?t have enough time. He said let?s redo some of the stuff we played as a cover band when we first started out. We wanted to just go in the studio and have fun and we did.?

The album includes both new and previously recorded tracks by Poison. Previously released songs include ?Rock and Roll All Nite? by Kiss, from the ?Less than Zero? soundtrack; ?Squeeze Box? by The Who, from the Poison album, ?Hollyweird;? and ?Your Mama Don?t Dance? from Poison?s sophomore release, ?Open Up and Say...Ahh!?

New tunes include ?Little Willy? by Sweet, ?Suffragette City? by David Bowie, ?Can?t You See? by the Marshall Tucker Band, ?What I Like About You? by The Romantics and ?Just What I Needed? by The Cars.

?Our first good argument this album was about what songs we were going to cover,? Michaels said. ?I wanted to cover songs by Led Zeppelin, Aerosmith and a bunch of others but the other guys said we should find some songs that haven?t been covered a million times. So each guy kind of spearheaded the songs he chose.?

One song selected by Michaels was ?Little Willy? by Sweet.

?The very first concert I ever saw was Sweet opening for Foghat many years ago,? Michaels said laughing. ?I don?t want to say how long, but it was long enough. I still remember hearing them play that song.?

The band has already shot the video for the song, ?What I Like About You,? which Michaels described as ?very comical and off the wall," and is scheduled to perform the song on national television Thursday (June 7th) on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson.

Choosing songs for the new album led to a friendly disagreement within the band, and Michaels expects the same when choosing a set list for the upcoming tour.

?Choosing songs for the set list is what Bobby and I got into a fight about last year,? Michaels said about the fracas which erupted on stage in Atlanta between Dall and himself in the midst of the 2006 tour. ?It started the night before when we were picking songs for the show and continued when we were on stage.?

Michaels said the fight happened because ?we both still care about the music? and that the pair quickly made amends the next day.

The new tour begins June 13 in Greenville, South Carolina, with long time friends in Ratt supporting the group.

?The very first arena tour we did was with Ratt,? Michaels said. ?Our first night was in Beaumont, Texas back in 1986. Anyway, we had heard singer Stephen Pearcy might be rejoining the band, but we didn?t really know what was going on with those guys. So, we made a few calls, and now we?re going on tour together.?

Although the focus is on Poison, the new album and approaching summer tour, Michaels is also preparing to enter the world of reality television in July with the VH-1 premiere of ?Rock of Love with Bret Michaels.?

The show is described as ?Michaels search for a woman who can keep up with his rock ?n roll lifestyle and not become jealous of his one true passion,? which is performing.

?It is definitely one of the most interesting, strange, bizarre, craziest things I have ever done,? he said. ?I was real hesitant at first about doing the show, but they reassured me about some things. I told them I wanted it to be real and it is. They have included stuff from my every day life in it, like workouts to my diabetes. They just filmed me being me.?

Without giving away any juicy details about the 10 episode series, Michaels said the soon to be hit show has a little bit of everything.

?It?s funny at times, and it?s sad at times,? Michaels said. ?There is a lingerie mud football game, a motocross, broken bones and more.?

Michaels, like any person, has had his share of positive and negative relationships, but many have ended not so well because of his profession.

?When you are away for a long time on tour, it just causes a lot of tension and friction in a relationship,? he said. ?It?s almost like rock ?n roll is my mistress. I like being on the road, seeing the fans and having fun. You?ve got to make time to make a relationship work.?

Poison?s 50 city trek begins June 13 in South Carolina and concludes Sept. 1 in Florida and most likely is performing at a venue near you.

POISON and RATT kicked off their summer co-headliing trek last night (Wednesday, June 13) at the Bi Lo Center in Greenville, South Carolina. According to one report, the 8,000-capacity venue was about half full, and Swedish rockers VAINS OF JENNA ? who were the last-minute replacements for opening act WHITE LION ? did not appear on the bill.

POISON:

01. Look What The Cat Dragged In

5 covers in the poison setlist and no unskinny bop? even though i like the cover album, i hope they play only 2 or so songs from it and play songs like unskinny bop and maybe life loves a tragedy. i like how they're switching it up a little with back 2 the rocking horse and # 1 bad boy

Sure would like to see Poison do more stuff from "Crack a Smile"
and Hollyweird"

As for Ratt , pretty good set list there , but I have always liked
"Loving You is a Dirty Job" , plus I also like some of the Arcade
stuff , too.

I got enough of Hollyweird when Poison toured on it for two consecutive summers with the same setlist and backdrop.  Hell...even the comments between the songs were almost identical.  C.C. "I've been in this band for ...and they finally let me sing."

You say "fans of there (sic) rock stuff" and "fans of there (sic) shit stuff" as though the two were not interchangeable. It has always all been "the shit stuff," whether it be Van Springsteen-lite of the 80s, or the Backstreet Boys-esque "It's My Life," five years ago, or the pseudo-country shit they are doing now--Bon Jovi has always sucked.

any way i saw Poison and RATT last night @ kansas in the verison wireless place and it was awsome. RATT looked good played well together. But then when poison took the stage and the sun went down all the lighters came out, and some dudes a couple of rows ahead of me had joints and were smokin' them right there and after the security smelled the presence of it they called the police and were tryin to find the guys and gals with it with there little flash lights  it was cool. I couldn't ask for a hit because my mom was with me and you couldn't go any where without showing your tickets. My mom was cripeled that night so we got to sit in the handicaped section, and everytime any one would do something cool i'd raise the cruch in the air with my fist and devil horn salute \m/  and at towards the end of the show like 5 chicks threw there bras on stage  they were hot too especially the bitch with the double Ds  . Yes, I am a fan of Poison, especially Brett he is cool! I know Brett personally, I met him at a concert New Orleans long time ago, when I was younger and he was alot younger than he is now.
I you can say talked to Brett alot when he was down and places where I saw him. He is crazy and fun and he is some hot!!! Rock on Poison! Come back also, you all need too!
I know there are fans of Poison on this board and there have been little threads going round before, mentioning their tour and the release of Best of Ballads & Blues but i think they deserve a thread for everything about them, so anything to do with Poison goes in here. ?So to start things off here are my top ten Poison songs;

1. Fallen Angel
2. Cry Tough
3. Home [Bret's Story]
4. Unskinny Bop
5. Stand
6. Nothin' But A Good Time
7. Wasteland
8. Bastard Son of A Thousand Blues
9. Your Mama Don't Dance
10. Stupid, Stoned And Dumb

Favourite Album: Hollyweird

And a question for Poison fans;

Q. Which famous Hollywood actor is a good friend of Bret Michaels and has worked on films with him?

POISON's August 1, 2007 concert at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater in Maryland Heights, Missouri was reportedly filmed for the band's first-ever, one-night-only, full-length concert DVD.

"We figured St. Louis is always such a good show every time we play there," POISON frontman Bret Michaels told The Telegraph prior to the shoot. "We said, 'Please shoot it as fun and in your face, exciting. Involve the fans.' They will have boom cranes over the fans. We want a sweaty, in-your-face rock and roll show.?

This Halloween forget the "trick or treat," and stay at home for some good old rock n' roll with HDNet's Heavy Metal Halloween! First, it ain't nothing but a good time on "Sound Off" with Matt Pinfield as the hard-rocking hair-metal band POISON sits down with Matt at the Trump Casino in Atlantic City for a candid look into the band's rich history. Then watch the HDNet premiere of "Poison Live, Raw and Uncut" from the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre in St. Louis, Missouri. The multi-platinum glam-rockers, currently performing on their Poison'd tour, play all their beloved hits, including "Nothin' but a Good Time", "Look What the Cat Dragged In", and their #1 hit "Every Rose Has Its Thorn". Then, watch "Whitesnake Live: In the Still of the Night" as the band performs their most powerful, high-energy concert to date playing hits like, "Here I Go Again", "Is this Love", and "In the Still of the Night".

It's metal with more hairspray and make-up than any Halloween costume! Witness the spectacle October 28 only on HDNet. Make sure to tune in at 8:30 p.m. for "Sound Off" with Matt Pinfield and then POISON live at 9:00 p.m. ET. For times in your area, go to www.hd.net.

It is, top album.  I'm sure i remember reading something, possibly in this thread that the record company did not want them to do a new one since they don't think it would sell and that's why they made them do a covers album....

I didn't like Crack a Smile too much. You get the better songs off that and Power to the People on their "best of Ballads and blues" cd

That's a solid cd. love it

Gus Griesinger of Glam-Metal.com recently conducted an interview with POISON drummer Rikki Rockett. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow:

Glam-Metal.com: POISON are a staple of touring just about every summer since 2001. Do you like the commitment every year to POISON or would you like to do some of your other projects instead?

Rikki: I'm very thankful for POISON! If it wasn't for POISON, I wouldn't be able to do all this stuff. I'd just be dreaming about it or still trying to work for it. It's a double-edged sword. Once in a while I like to say "Hey let's take a year off for something?" As long as it's there, I got to go out and do it.

Glam-Metal.com: You already stated that you're going back out on tour this summer. What about the possibility of any new material from you guys?

Rikki: I would love it, but Bret's doing the "Rock of Love" thing right now and there is just no time before a summer tour.

Glam-Metal.com: I wasn't just asking about before this tour I meant soon or maybe in the fall? "Hollyweird" was the last release of new material (in 2002) and greatest hits or covers packages were released since then.

Rikki: I hope so! There's a DVD coming out from the show in St. Louis from the last tour for HD Net (hopefully before the tour.) As for new material? I am so ready to do something new! I love to get up on stage and play something new.

Glam-Metal.com: You are a well-known animal rights activist. What is your absolute favorite charity that you love to be involved in?

Rikki: Probably The Last Chance For Animals who I've been involved with for many years. There are so many that are important. I always tell people, "look what inspires you" or "look what you have a soft spot in your heart for" and start hope with that! For me, it's pet theft and selling for lab experimentations. I like to do undercover work, but I really can't because I'm too well known. That's my main thing. I think stealing animals and selling them to research labs is something I'm totally against!

Glam-Metal.com: OK, what are your opinions of Bret Michaels' "Rock of Love"?

Rikki: I think it's fun, but it's not for me. It does bring a lot of attention to POISON, so that's cool! I couldn't do it. I'm not wired like that. It's doing well and he's having a great time with it.

Glam-Metal.com: What is the biggest misconception of POISON?

Rikki: I'm really tired of how people are wrapped up in one aspect of who we are. I'm still judged on what I looked like in 1986 and what I played like in 1986. I think we're a whole lot different than that now. I made a mistake of staying too humble in the beginning. I said "We're not the best players in the world and were just out there doing our thing" and that got taken to: Aha!! They suck!! They admit it kind of thing. And the whole "hair metal" thing was like, "They aren't metal enough!" We never set out to be a "metal" band. We were a "rock 'n roll" band! We wanted to be AEROSMITH. We wanted to be KISS. Those were our influences. Our influences were not IRON MAIDEN even know I love IRON MAIDEN. I didn't want to be IRON MAIDEN, I wanted to be AEROSMITH! So POISON not being "metal" enough is stupid! So while when we got crowned this "hair metal" band, it never felt good!

no, its far from it.

image wise the only relation they have, is they both wore make up and teased hair.

but even the way they wore make up differed.

music wise the lyric themes differ, the music sounds different.

crue is much more metal sounding.

poison are more rock sounding

I just dont see much similarities other than the label given, producer and backing vocals.

They're really not that similar at all.  Hair metal is a horrible label, because the bands under it are as varied as possible, from a more pop-rock sound to Aerosmith-style blues rock to metal tinged hard rock.

Motley are way heavier and kick ass than Poison

I like Poison but they have simply cheesy guitar riffs and lyrics.

Kick ass!  Poison usually put on a good show, and I'm looking forward to seeing Bach again, now that I'm familiar with (and lovin'!) the new material.

I can live without Dokken, but whatever.

Poison Drummer Collared on Rape Warrant

Los Angeles (E! Online) - Look what the cops dragged in.

Rikki Rockett, the 46-year-old drummer of '80s hair-metal purveyor Poison, was taken into custody on a rape warrant as he arrived Monday at Los Angeles International Airport on a flight back from New Zealand.

The musician, whose real name is Richard Ream, was nabbed while going through customs and taken to Los Angeles County Jail, where he was booked on a felony fugitive sexual assault warrant issued from Neshoba County, Miss.

He was released the next afternoon, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department website.

No further details were available. Calls to authorities in Mississippi were not immediately returned.

But TMZ reported that the alleged incident occurred on Sept. 23, 2007.  Rockett reportedly was staying at the Silver Star Hotel & Casino in the Delta where he met a female guest.  His accuser, whose identity is not being disclosed for privacy reasons, then filed a report several days later with law enforcement claiming he raped her in his hotel room.  Neshoba authorities then issues the warrant for his arrest after determining there was probable cause.

There was no comment from the band and there's no word on the musician's current whereabouts. He was in New Zealand for a Poison performance at Rock 2 Wellington, a huge metalhead concert in that country's capital.

A former hairdresser from Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, Rockett cofounded Poison in the mid-'80s with his high school pal, vocalist Bret Michaels.

The band's debut album, Look What the Cat Dragged In, sold more than 2 million copies.

Posion became a superstar act with the release of 1988's blockbuster follow-up, Open Up and Say...Ahh!, which spawned the megahit "Every Rose Has Its Thorn," along with "Nothin' But a Good Time" and "Your Mamma Don't Dance."

The band's third disc, Flesh and Blood, was almost as successful, scoring several top 10 hits, but eventually rising tensions over drug and alcohol abuse led the group to fire guitarist C.C. Deville and signaled the decline of the group.

BRET MICHAELS AND POISON TO REUNITE FOR A 25TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR AND ARE CONFIRMED TO CO- HEADLINE A SELECT DATE SUMMER TOUR WITH MOTLEY CRUE.

Tickets to go on sale March 18th Recent Celebrity Apprentice winner and Donald Trump favorite, rocker Bret Michaels, currently recuperating from heart surgery, will reunite with all original Poison band mates for a 25th Anniversary tour tentatively titled "Glam ? A ? Gedon 25". For the first time ever Poison and Motley Crue will co-headline a select date summer tour with special guests the New York Dolls. Although several controversial statements have been made in the press by certain members of Motley Crue vowing this tour would never happen, that is simply not the case. Fans of both bands have spoken and want the tour to happen and both Motley Crue and Poison have agreed. Concert promoters in these select cities state that the buzz is unbelievable for both the Poison dates as well as the Motley Crue / Poison tour. No doubt this will be the rock tour of the summer. Both Poison and Motley Crue have a long history of hit songs, bigger than life stage shows, no holds barred live energy not to mention the two bands combined have sold over 100 million records and have over 24 top 40 hits between them. Tickets for the Motley Crue / Poison tour will go on sale March 18, 2011. Poison plan to kick off their 25th Anniversary "Glam -A ? Gedon 25" tour in Tupelo Mississippi at the Bancorp South Arena Wednesday May 25th. Michaels will then continue solo, playing Thursday May 26th in Ft. Walton Beach where he will perform for the fans & troops as he did last Memorial Day weekend. Michaels will rejoin Poison in Little Rock at the River Fest Amphitheater on Friday May 27th. Michaels will then perform solo at the Hard Rock in Biloxi on Saturday May 28th. Bret will rejoin Poison and Motley Crue Sunday May 29th at ROCKLAHOMA. Poison will then continue on alone playing arenas from Memorial Day until rejoining Motley Crue in Dallas at the Starplex Amphitheater on Tuesday June 7th. When reporters recently asked Bret Michaels if there was any bad blood between the bands, Michaels laughs " there may be some friendly competition but there is no bad blood at all on my part. Nikki and I have spoken several times on the phone recently and the conversations went great." Michaels continues, "Music is a universal language and I am extremely excited that this tour has come together as are the fans, they are truly going to see a great show. Honestly, I could care less about all the mudslinging, it gets nobody nowhere, and after all I have been through health wise in the last year, I am going to try to focus on what does matter which is the show, the fans, fun and personally throwing a hell of a backstage party." Bret Michaels solo tour will start March 19th when he appears at Muhammad Ali's Celebrity Fight Night alongside Kevin Costner, David Foster, Billy Crystal, Halle Berry and Reba McIntire and will continue up until the Motley Crue / Poison tour starts. The Get Your Rock On solo tour in support of the album of the same name will resume immediately following the select summer dates with Motley Crue & Poison. Fans can go directly to BretMichaels.com to get the latest news and join his Titanium and Platinum Backstage VIP Fan Experience which he has done successfully for years. It will be the only VIP Backstage package offered for the Poison tour. For more Poison/Bret Michaels tour dates and VIP Fan Experience information go to BretMichaels.com.

I like Poison don't get me wrong, but one thing that was always said bout Poison were how they were kind of fake rock stars in the sense that Motley did drugs got in fights and behaved the way they did cause that was how "THEY ACTUALLY" were. even if they weren't famous, that was them, whereas Poison did shit cause they thought that was how they were suppose to act.

Bret got asked who partied more and he said it was even or something... Please... Nikki blew them all out of the water combined.

With all due respect.. since when does a rockstar have to be on drugs or get into fights to be a rockstar??
That's just a fake standard made by society! Just because they were mostly junkies in the 80s, doesn't mean they're more or less rockstars then the others. What separates their generation from the new one, is the quality of the music. The rest is just magazine drama...who cares....

I think Poison are a pretty solid band, and i dont care if they were "posers" or not, but they rock that stage!

Nikki was stupid enough to almost kill himself... thats not being a rockstar to me, thats being a stupid human being...

I hate those stupid rockstars we come on in magazines criticizing other bands for writting songs about drugs (and this is not related to Poison), when they didnt have any interaction with drugs. Hate it when they say they're "posers".

Its like... you dont need to be a stupid rockstar who has no love for his life or no self esteem like Nikki or Slash at once to figure out what drugs do to you... u can just read a book and have a notion of what they do to you, so why would a person like that be a poser?... i mean do u have to try it, to know what its like? cmon... I know what each and every drug does to you and im not a rockstar neither iv tried them... does that make me a poser? please...
Its actually contraditory... they go around and criticize society in their songs, but then they do the same, they do other society standards in their songs. Pretty fuckin lame.

I think alot of people underestimate Poison, just because of their glam image. These guys know how to write songs, and they have alot of catchy, melodic songs. There's another group called Stars From Mars, and these guys are glam as hell, but again they have some really cool songs.

I guess it's just like the old saying, don't judge a book by it's cover.

Bret Michaels on Crue tour: It doesn't have to be a lovefest

MARCH 11, 2011

How did this summer tour come about?

Bret Michaels: Very simple. I was going out solo this year. I have a brand new tour and CD, Bret Michaels, ?Get your Rock On.? I was going out solo and we?re going to do a couple dates with Poison for our 25th anniversary. Well, I mentioned at a couple venues that I thought it would be great if Motley and Poison toured together for our 25th and 30th anniversaries. And I took a lot of flack [laughs] from certain members of Motley Crue, who vowed they were never going to do it. Well, here we are doing it.

So what has the relationship been like with the bands over the years?

Bret Michaels: Here?s the funniest thing. Vince has toured with Poison many times solo. We get along great. As far as Motley and Poison, there hasn?t been much of a connection. This is the first time we?ve ever done a tour together. I know over the years that Motley has a certain way they want to brand themselves or want themselves to be seen. With Poison, we just want to go out to play for fans and the people who show up. If there?s going to be a friendly competition as far as wanting to go out and put on a great show, absolutely. As far as saying anything bad about them, I just don?t.

As far as getting along, I?m not around them enough to know or really care how they feel. Even if they like Poison or don?t like me, I?m playing to fans who show up. It doesn?t have to be a lovefest between our two bands. I don?t want the fans to be separated. Motley fans are Poison fans are rock fans. Music is a universal language.

Let me preface by saying I LOVE MOTLEY CRUE. so in no way am i hating or being an asshole on purpose but Motley remind me of that star athlete in high school. thinks he is better than everyone, won't associate with anyone below his social level etc etc etc.. then gets old, fat, and still wears letterman jacket 20 years after they were cool and has done very little since but STILL likes to act like and think they are that star/stud prom king.

in other words, GET over yourself Motley. U ain't U2 or Radiohead.

Ur music is for partying and getting laid. isn't exactly deep . better than Poison but still, u ain't saving the world.

I second that.  There is only so much hipster rock(rardiohead) and mid life crisis rock(U2) that one can handle in this world.  I went to a U2 show once I thought I was at a Parent/Teacher conference.

Poison still sucks pretty hard though, I don't understand why people follow them when there are so many bands from that era that so much better.  Its really scrapping the bottom of the barrel when you get to Poison.  Might as well just listen to Nelson or Warrant at that point.  Same shit.

But yet they act like they are so above Poison when they basically have similar messages in their songs

Motley are a much better band but have the same audience.

Q&A: Bret Michaels

Published March 15, 2011

After a deluge of well-documented medical problems, Bret Michaels is feeling "really damn good right now." So good that he's preparing to embark on multiple tours.

He'll kick off this year's work doing solo dates to advance his forthcoming album, "Get Your Rock On," and then front Poison for a run of shows. On June 7, Poison begins a summer jaunt supporting Motley Crue with special guest New York Dolls.

"I can't wait," Michaels told SoundSpike about the Motley Crue/Poison/New York Dolls jaunt. "It's going to be great. You know when you make a wish list of things to do? This is on my list. I said I wanted to go out with Def Leppard and tour. I wanted to go out with KISS. Last year, I went [out as a solo artist] with Lynyrd Skynyrd.

"With Poison and Motley Crue, we're two of the big survivors of our genre of music, right? We have a lot of hits. I'll tell you this: We sold a lot of records and we're both going to put on an amazing show."

Bret Michaels: Charlie Sheen learned how to 'bust' up a hotel room from me

Charlie Sheen doesn't just have his tiger blood to thank for busting up a Plaza Hotel room last year, Bret Michaels wants some credit too.

The Poison rocker has revealed he "professionally" taught the "Two and a Half Men" star how to trash a hotel room because Sheen "wasn't doing a good job at first."

"I said, 'You gotta really let it out man! You gotta let it out and bust this stuff,'" Michaels told Access Hollywood.

"He showed me how to do films and make money, and I showed him out to lose a lot of money by smashing up hotel rooms," quipped Michaels, who has been open about his hard-partying past.

"I don't know if he's winning or losing," Michaels told Access Hollywood, adding, "maybe he's just spilling out what he's going through right now."

From Bret Michaels on Poison:

Performing helps Michaels heal

Poison -- with more than 25 million albums sold worldwide and such hits as "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" and "Nothin' But A Good Time" -- is celebrating 25 years in the music business this year. Michaels says it doesn't surprise him that they are still together.

"I think I did imagine a lifelong career with them," he says. "Life is about loyalty to me. You stick together. I'm still amazed by Poison and by what we've done together in our career so far. We turned nothing into something. And we never faked it."

Michaels says the members of Poison -- C.C. DeVille, Bobby Dall and Rikki Rockett -- don't have any plans to record any new music, but they are releasing a double CD retrospective of their greatest hits, "Double Dose of Poison: Ultimate Hits" next month.

"As far as writing all-new material, I'm not sure when that will happen," Michaels says. "But I'm sure that it will one day. I love writing music and I love those guys as though they're my brothers. When the time is right and the inspiration hits, I'm sure we'll all find ourselves back in the studio together."

From Bret Michaels:

'There's a certain science to wrecking (stuff) that people don't understand'

He says, the following primer is how a rock star gets motivated to destroy a hotel room:

"What starts to creep in is frustration. Then what creeps in is a bad phone call from an agent (or a promoter) who's (messed) you over.

"Then, something gets a backhand slap on the counter. Then you're mad that you broke something valuable that you own. This is where it goes to the next level.

"The TV is the only thing you gotta be careful of. You don't want it to go out the window.

"But if you're gonna smash it, you have to take one breath and clear the area below. Like golf, you yell, 'Fore!' Then out goes the TV. You don't want to get anyone killed or injured.

"And you don't want to get sued because you'll get angrier and wreck another room. It's a vicious cycle.

"There's a certain science to wrecking (stuff) that people don't understand."

After a thorny year, it's all roses for Bret Michaels

Poison frontman sounds off on Miley, reality TV and a Trump presidency

4/26/2011

Unlike Robert De Niro and Jerry Seinfeld, Michaels said he?d support a Trump run for the presidency.

?He is one of the best decision makers and delegators,? Michaels said. ?He is one of those guys that basically is a ?get it done? guy. Here?s the upside: he won?t (fool) around with the politics of politics. He?s gonna go in there and he?s like me ? the reason I think I won ?Apprentice? is I didn?t play by any of the rules. I went in there and said if I win every battle, I win the war. And I think because Donald Trump can put our economy back in shape, let people put the money in their pockets and decide what they want to do.

?The downside will be that I?m not sure that he?s gonna be happy with the way actual politics run. I call it the Agency Shuffle ? you have to be at the right party at the right time at the right dinner. His downside is gonna be how long anything takes to get done. Politics is almost a game of campaigning more than actually doing.?

Bret Michaels discusses Miley's mom, The Donald and his own party plans

Having an affair with a friend's wife is "not my style," he says.

"Tish -- me and her were working on a film. We were working on a Miley song. She's beautiful, but that's the problem.

" 'Good Morning America' -- I was getting ready to go up and do 'Every Rose' with Miley in Central Park in New York, and they took a bunch of pictures of me and Tish standing there."

Media ran the photos, implying they were a "couple" and "Billy's nowhere to be seen."

"I'm, like, wait a minute. I flew in from Charlotte last night, landed at 3 in the morning, didn't sleep, did the show, and flew back to Raleigh (N.C.) for the next show. But it made for interesting news."

At least Billy didn't punch him in the nose, he says.

"The Tony Awards already broke my nose," he jokes. "I don't need it broke again!"

Bret Michaels Interview 4/27/11

In Part 1, we talk about the upcoming Amarillo show on Friday night, his latest CD ?Custom Built,? his love for a certain Sublime tune and how Brett will spend part of his day at BSA.

Part 2, we talk about Diabetes and a myth or two associated with it, also my big pressing question, ?when is the autobiography coming out?? and what we can expect from the ?Roses & Thorns? book.

Part 3, we find out more about the ?Roses & Thorns? autobiography and whether it will be just a ?dirt? book, he reveals something that fans don?t know about him, where he sees himself in 5-10 years from now and a ?father?s moment.?

Part 4, in this final segment of our interview we find out the song that is the ?closest? to his heart and his proudest moment(s) personally and professionally.

On a personal note, I would like to thank Bret for his time during this interview. This was set up to only be about 10 minutes long, but we went closer t0 20 minutes. So, thank you for a great interview experience.

Bret Michaels talks health, Motley Crue and Donald Trump

Q: Are you looking forward to the Motley Crue tour?

Bret Michaels: There was a lot of controversy between Motley Crue and Poison, just some comments they had made about how "We're not gonna do that kind of tour." I had said something on stage, like "Wouldn't it be awesome if for Poison's 25th Anniversary and Motley Crue's 30th, for there to be a tour we did together?" And a couple of the members of their band made some pretty derogatory comments. I just said, "The hell with it. I'm gonna do my own tour." Then, Nikki (Sixx) said, "I'm really sorry about some of the comments some of the members made. I really want to do this." So I think it's gonna be a great tour.

Q: How have the members of Poison been getting along?

Bret Michaels: You couldn't put four more different people in a room and try to make a band, so when that chemistry is on and it works, it's unbelievably great. There's just this fire and this energy. And when it goes bad, it goes horribly bad. We've had knock-down drag-out fistfights on stage. But now? Today? Even though we still have four completely different personalities, I think we're getting along a lot better.

NIKKI SIXX Says He Never Apologized To BRET MICHAELS For Comments About POISON - May 14, 2011

Despite Bret Michaels' claim to the contrary, M?TLEY CR?E bassist Nikki Sixx says that he never apologized to the POISON singer for derogatory comments CR?E made about Bret's band.

In a brand new interview with The Arizona Republic, Michaels was asked if was looking forward to this summer's POISON / M?TLEY CR?E tour. "There was a lot of controversy between M?TLEY CR?E and POISON, just some comments they had made about how 'We're not gonna do that kind of tour,'" Michaels replied. Then, Nikki said, 'I'm really sorry about some of the comments some of the members made. I really want to do this.' So I think it's gonna be a great tour."

Responding to Bret's remarks from The Arizona Republic interview, Sixx wrote on his Twitter, "Just to clarify, Bret Michaels recently said I apologized to him about derogatory comments that M?TLEY made about POISON in the past and that isn't what I said. What I did say was 'I personally never had anything against you guys as a people but M?TLEY just sorta though you sucked as band but let's give the fans what they want and go out and have a good time.'"

For heaven sake Nikki, who do you think you are?. It's not a big deal if what Bret said wasn't exactly what happened, although it seemed pretty close to me. Why does Nikkia always have to come off as such a badass, who has no respect for anyone.  >:(

I disagree.  I was happy to see Nikki Sixx come out and say they are doing this just for the fans who want it and obviously for money.  If he were to treat Poison as legitimate tour mates I would lose all respect for Motley Crue.  Poison fucking sucks.  They are everything that is wrong with rock music, they are fake, contrived, just utter commercial garbage.  I don't want them to co-exist, I want Motley to blow them off the stage every night.  Who cares if Bret has always been cool about the Crue, he fucking sucks.

Bret has always been cool about Crue, and I personally like Poison better. But no, Nikki has to turn a nice comment that Bret said around, just to keep his hardman image..... fuckin joke.

Jesus, how can you not dig Unskinny Bop Bop Bop Bop... :hihi:

But seriously, never liked Crues' self worth attitude, as if they are gods or something. At least Poison have never pretended to be something they were not, they've always been out there to have a good time, and have a laugh in their own way.  : ok:

Now Crue on the other hand, they like to think they are still badass motherfuckers, who party all the time and always get laid. Some of it might be true, but I'm gettin sick of them propping themself up like they created the whole glam/sleaze genre.  :P

One more round on this...

BRET MICHAELS Responds To NIKKI SIXX's Latest 'Trash-Talking' - May 19, 2011

Bret Michaels has responded to Nikki Sixx's recent "trash-talking," inisisting that the M?TLEY CR?E bassist did, in fact, apologize to the POISON singer for saying "a lot of bad crap" about Bret's band.

During an exclusive interview with Michaels yesterday (Wednesday, May 18), AOL's Noisecreep asked the rocker if he felt comfortable commenting on the recent Sixx mudslinging.

"No, I love it and I hope you can help me put this to rest," Michaels said. "I'm going to be very blunt and honest. When my career started, Nikki and I hung out and I remember telling him there were some CR?E songs that I absolutely liked ? I took a positive approach to things. You can look back at old photos me and Nikki with our Harley's. We used to ride together because we had a house down the street from each other. At the time, both of our careers had just started and our records had hit. We would go out and party together, I would even join the CR?E on stage and sing. Everything was great.

"Now at one point ? I think it was in the mid-'90s ? POISON and BON JOVI were playing the arenas. Our 'Native Tongue' album [1993] had sold a million copies and BON JOVI's album, 'Keep The Faith' [1992], was at about 1.5 million or something and at one point in the middle there, M?TLEY CR?E changed singers all this stuff."

"That's around the period when Nikki decided to brand his band differently," Michaels continued. "What confused me about that time period was when Nikki said that Vince [Neil, CR?E singer] and I were kind of ridiculous. Now these are his words, 'You and Vince are kind of the same ? you don't really pick and choose your fans, you just kind of go out and play music.' Well, I thought that's what music was about. I didn't know I was supposed to decide which fan can like or not like my music.

"I did Nikki's radio show about two months ago and it was an absolutely great day. We talked about the tour and everything was cool. Now on the show he says to me, 'Bret, man, what's going on? Let's take a picture together,' and so on. We also did all of this television press for the tour in Los Angeles together and everything was great.

"He even apologized to me and said, 'I sort of said a lot of bad crap about you guys, but you're actually a relevant band,' and he went in and said some other good stuff about a month ago. I got a text from Nikki two weeks ago saying, 'Hey bro, excited to see you on the road!' But then all of a sudden, out of nowhere, I hear about him talking trash about us again. I can't keep up [laughts]!"

Nikki comes off kinda douchey but make no mistake about it, Motley are on a WAYYYYYYYYY higher level than Poison

Vince and Bret are kind of a wash but Tommy is way better than Rikki don't get me started on Mick over CC, not even close. song wise, just listen to Motley Red Whiteand Crue greatest hits then listen to Poisons greatest hits

case closed.

blah,blah,blah....I just don't understand why crap like this gets started, so what if Motley's better, so what if some say Poison sucks. I personally like both groups and always have since they started. I wouldn't be afraid to say that both bands share a lot of fans. Sounds like Nikki is worried about his reputation or something.

If you don't like either band, don't listen to them. I just don't understand why it makes a lot of folks mad to see Poison, or even Motley for that matter as a successful rock group.

They never claim to be anything but rock n' roll, how is that phony?
Want phony? check out country music, that's a big fat joke!

the problem is sharing the stage with Poison.  I could care less how successful Poison is, there are far worse bands that Poison who are successful...its the fact that Motley is touring with them and giving them some type of legitimacy.

Poison's Bret Michaels Added To Motley Crue's Australian Tour

Post by: Dave-O 25 May, 2011

Last week we mentioned Motley Crue and a member of Poison would be doing a tour together. Well we can report that the deal has been done!

Music reporter Nui Te Koha broke the news on Triple M Melbourne's Hot Breakfast this morning.

"Motley Crue and Poison frontman Bret Michaels will [tour]. That deal has been done. It's gonna happen in September," Nui said.

When the story broke last week fans went off across our Rock News Facebook and website. dazza nicholls screamed, "rock out wth ya cock out!!! boguns let loose, can't wait for that!!! crue here we come!!!!! \m/ rock on \m/", while Julie Tolmer said "Living in the 80's wohooo love all their music!!!!!".

Of course, Bret Michaels has had a busy and varied post-Poison career, releasing a couple of solo albums and starring in the reality TV show Rock Of Love where babes with big boobs vie for his affection.

We'll have all the dates as soon as they're confirmed. The other hot rumour is that Whitesnake will join Motley Crue and Bret Michaels for the massive triple bill. We'll keep you posted.

From Bret Michaels:

June 03, 2011

Few questions are off-limits with Michaels, so it was time to ask about Poison?s new partnership with Motley Crue.

The two bands have, shall we say, experienced friction in the past. Do these guys even like each other?

?I want to make it very clear. I?m not a grudge guy, ever,? Michaels said. ?They have said a lot of negative stuff about Poison. (Motley Crue singer) Vince (Neil) has toured with me and we?ve ridden motorcycles together. (Bassist) Nikki (Sixx) and (drummer) Tommy (Lee) have said a lot of negative things about a lot of people, and I was one of them.

?I don?t know what the rhyme or reason is,? Michaels continued. ?I like some of their music. Fans want the tour. I think it could be a great tour for fans if we could just put our feelings aside. I think we can have a great time.?

June 06, 2011

Audio: http://www.kegl.com/pages/scull.html?article=8669118

This is what he says in the interview:

On how POISON ended up touring with M?TLEY CR?E this summer after members of M?TLEY CR?E had less-than-kind words to say about POISON during the last few years:

Rikki: "Bret [Michaels, POISON singer] was doing some solo gigs, he was up in Canada, and somebody before the show, I think it was, mentioned about, 'Oh, you guys are doing a tour with M?TLEY CR?E,' or something like that. And so he mentions it on stage. He goes, 'Hey, how would you like us up here with M?TLEY CR?E?' All of a sudden, somehow, that got convoluted that he was trying to book a tour through the press, and that's not the case at all. He just mentioned it to the fans because he had heard something up there. So then we just kind of let it go. We said, 'OK, well, if nobody wants do it.' A couple of months later, we got a call from the CR?E's management, and they said, 'You know what?! That's a pretty good idea. Would you like to do it?' And we said, 'Yeah, that makes sense to us.' I think it was a combination between their folks and some of the Live Nation guys and the fans. I think the fans were like, 'This is one combination we have not seen from either of these two bands. We haven't seen them on the same stage.' I think the last time we played a show in the States with M?TLEY was Day On The Green in 1989, or something like that."

On why he thinks members of M?TLEY CR?E were so adamantly against the idea of touring with POISON when it was mentioned in the past:

"You know what?! I don't know, quite honestly. I really don't. I don't share that animosity. I like M?TLEY CR?E; I'm a fan. I think they're awesome. I think we're awesome. I love our own band. We have a lot of the same fans. Not everybody that's a POISON fan is a M?TLEY fan and vice versa, but a big chunk is. And the fact of the matter is that somebody doesn't have one band's CD in their car all the time, or on their iPod or whatever; we all like a variety of bands and music. And honestly, I'm seeing a lot of breaking down of the barriers again, like it was? In the Sixties, there was some crazy, different combinations of bands that would together or be on the same bill, and now it's kind of getting back to that a little bit. I mean, you're not gonna see MAROON 5 open for SLAYER ? it's not that crazy ? but there are some interesting combinations of stuff that wouldn't have happened in the past, for whatever reason. I think rock has grown up a little bit? Look at the rap guys ? they stick together, man. They play on each other's records, they'll support each other? They'll kill each other sometimes, too. [Laughs] But they support each other and that's why that genre of music has hung in there. And if rock's gonna hang in there, it's gotta do the same thing, and it's doing it."

Poison gets more potent over time

Jun. 22, 2011

New music is still in the offing.

"We are going to finish this tour, take a little time off and then, hopefully, we can begin writing and recording new material," Rockett said. "We have been tossing things around, for sure."

"We really still are like a garage band in a sense, because that's how we come up with new music," Rockett said. "In rehearsals for this tour, we started jamming and playing around, coming up with cool riffs and grooves. It got to the point where we had to stop ourselves and get back to the business of putting our show together for this tour. But there is new music just waiting to burst out of us, and we know that's what has to be next for us."

Michaels talking Poison

July 22, 2011

PITTSBURGH -- Prior to hitting the road again this summer with his Poison, the glam-metal band's singer, Bret Michaels, agreed to do e-mail interviews.
Here's what the Butler native had to say about his career and Poison's appearance Sunday at Stage AE with Motley Crue:

Q: When you performed locally last year at First Niagara Pavilion, VH1 cameras were filming. Will that be the case when Poison performs at Stage AE?
A: We always like to have cameras rolling to catch footage; you never know what's going to happen and the shows are always a great time so yes, we'll have cameras rolling so we don't miss anything. It's not necessarily for VH1 but I always have fun projects up my sleeve and the tours are always crazy so we definitely try to get a lot of footage.

Q: You've played Stage AE, headlining a Pittsburgh Steelers pep rally. What was your favorite moment of that experience?
A: I was raised in Steelers territory and I'm a Steelers fan through and through. Two of my first loves were music and the Steelers, so headlining the Steelers pep rally was an awesome combination of two things I'm really passionate about. I loved every moment of it: seeing the fans, feeding off of their energy, getting out there to support my team and rock out with the fans. It was incredible and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. My daughter Raine was with me as well so that was a great moment.

Q: What are your most vivid memories of growing up in Butler? And did you ever spend any time in Beaver County.?
A: I have great memories of Butler. I was always outdoors being active as a kid. I played a lot of sports, little league football. Always something active. I rode dirt bikes all time. I still love to ride -- I just created the Bret Michaels Rock Hard, Ride Hard Award for supercross/ motocross which will be a cash prize awarded in Las Vegas for the toughest and most fearless rider of the season. But I loved growing up in Butler and I spent a fair amount of time in Beaver County, as well, so I'm excited to be coming back to the area.

Q. Poison is celebrating 25 years together. Which of the band's accomplishments has made you the proudest?
A: Celebrating our 25th anniversary is a real milestone. We literally built Poison from the ground up. We took nothing and turned it into something huge. So, I'm still proud of that and I know the guys are all proud of that as well. I still love touring and playing with the guys after all these years and the fans are still loving it. That means everything to me.

Q: Poison is touring with Motley Crue. What was it like hanging with those guys on the Sunset Strip back in the day?
A: It was just pure mayhem. Those were some of the craziest times of my life, and some of the most fun too, as you can imagine. We caused trouble and we always had a good time.

Q: Also on the tour is the New York Dolls. Did their music or stage style influence Poison?
A: Oh, absolutely. The New York Dolls were a huge influence. They were real 1970s rock and it's an honor to be heading out on tour with them this summer.

Q: What was a bigger artistic risk on your last album: Covering Sublime or singing with Miley Cyrus?
A: With both of those, I didn't think "Wow, I'm taking a really big risk here, artistically." I thought, "Wow, wouldn't it be cool do this." So I didn't see covering Sublime or working with Miley as a risk. I saw both of those tracks as an opportunity to evolve as an artist and stretch myself. I consider myself truly lucky because I have the kind of fans who support and encourage me when I step outside of the box and do something unexpected.

Q: You brought your daughters on stage last year at First Niagara Pavilion. Have they gotten used to daddy being a rock star? And would you encourage them to pursue musical careers?
A: My girls love having a rock star daddy. I miss them like crazy when I'm on the road but I get them out to see me as much as possible. Raine and Jorja are both hugely talented and if they want to follow in my footsteps and pursue a career in music then I'm all for it. I would love that. I actually just re-recorded "Every Rose Has It's Thorn" with both of them for Kidz Bop Monster Ballads which was, by far, one of the coolest collaborations I've gotten to do. It was such a fun project to work on.

Q: You won "Celebrity Apprentice" and got to distribute your brand of Snapple, yet it's Donald Trump's face that dominates the bottle. How come?
A: Look, I'm not trying to compete with Donald Trump-- I'm just honored to share a label with him.

From Bret Michaels:

August 5, 2011

Q: As Poison celebrates 25 years together, are you surprised the band is still at it?

A: I think I did imagine a lifelong career with them. Life is about loyalty to me ? you stick together. I?m still amazed by Poison and by what we?ve done together in our career so far. We turned nothing into something. And we never faked it. Being real more times is the one ingredient that leads to longevity, and 25 years later, here we are. I honestly believe that having that kind of experience behind us, we?re a better band than we have ever been. Poison loves to give our fans a great show, and obviously we aren?t kids anymore, but it?s still about having a great time. And that?s what it?s always been about.

Q: What are the band?s plans for the future? Any new music?

A: We recently released a 25-year greatest hits package that came out last May called ?Double Dose of Poison: Ultimate Hits.? As far as writing all new material, I?m not sure when that will happen. But I?m sure that it will one day. I love writing music and I love those guys. When the time is right and the inspiration hits, I?m sure we?ll all find ourselves back in the studio together. But the bottom line is that both Poison and my solo career have co-existed for quite some time now. They are each a huge part of my life, and I will certainly continue to put my all into both. I also have a solo album out this fall called ?Get Your Rock On,? so be on the lookout for that.

July 29

?The music has withstood the test of time, and that?s a huge part of (Poison?s longevity). You can say they sounded a little trendy (in the ?80s), but not really. The song structures are really more like ?70s song structures,? Rockett said.

Despite the enormous egos of both Poison and Motley Crue ? ?If you don?t have some kind of an ego in a rock band, you?ll collapse,? the drummer said with a laugh ? Rockett claimed there is no rivalry between the two acts.

?I?m not trying to show up Motley Crue. I don?t look at what Tommy Lee does and then try to steal something from him. It?s just not like that. And he doesn?t do that. They have their thing, and we have ours,? Rockett said.

Poison Responds to Song Theft Allegations (Exclusive)

10/27/2011

Poison, one of the most successful hair metal bands of the 1980s, is striking back in response to a new lawsuit that claims four hit songs were stolen a quarter century ago from another band. A lawyer for the group led by frontman-turned-reality-TV-celebrity Bret Michaels tells THR how the rock stars intend to defeat the copyright infringement claims. Put in lyrical form, it might go like this: Every rose has its thorn, just like every claim has its dawn, just as every sleeping plaintiff sings a sad, sad song.

The insanely long-gestating lawsuit was filed last week in Illinois federal court by Billy McCarthy and James Stonich, who were members of a Chicago band known as Kid Rocker, formerly signed to Atlantic Records and a fixture on the Hollywood club scene. In court papers, McCarthy and Stonich describe auditioning future Poison guitarist C.C. DeVille in 1984, and showing him songs they allege would become the basis for later Poison hits.

Mark D. Passin, attorney for the members of the group Poison, says the claims have absolutely no merit.

"Poison will vigorously defend against the baseless accusations alleged in the complaint," he says. "Obviously, if the Poison songs that are the subject of the complaint infringed any songs written by Plaintiffs McCarthy and Stonich they would have filed their lawsuit over 20 years ago when Poison released the albums on which the songs are embodied. It is unfortunate that success in the entertainment business often invites unmeritorious lawsuits."

Song theft allegations are not unusual, but it's not every day that a band faces allegations over material created so long ago.

In making the claim, Daniel Voelker, the attorney representing the plaintiffs, pointed to Taylor v. Meirick, a 1983 decision at the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals that suggested "the statute of limitations does not begin to run on a continuing wrong till the wrong is over and done with" and that plaintiffs could "reach back and get damages for the entire duration of the alleged violation."

Passin responds with his own case citations. He says: "In subsequent decisions, including one written by Chief Justice Posner, the 7th Circuit has held that the continuing wrong theory discussed in Taylor v. Meirick does not entitle a plaintiff to reach back and get damages beyond three years if, for example, the plaintiff knew or with the exercise of reasonable diligence would have known of the wrongful act."

In answering the lawsuit, Poison also intends to seek dismissal of the claims under the doctrine of laches because the Plaintiffs delayed too long before filing their lawsuit and that delay prejudiced Poison.

As for the intriguing question of why it took Kid Rocker members more than two decades to launch a claim, Poison's lawyer promises to get sworn answers about this during the litigation.

Here's one of the songs in dispute -- Poison's "Talk Dirty To Me"

The plaintiffs say that the song was stolen from them, and Poison shot this music video in order to avoid being dropped by their record label at the time.

Cross Complaint Filed in Bret Michaels Lawsuit Against Tony Awards

February 19, 2012

Weingarten Brown LLP announced in a statement that "defendants CBS Broadcasting, Inc., Tony Awards Productions, White Cherry Entertainment, Inc. and others involved in producing the 2009 Tony Awards, where Rock Star Bret Michaels sustained life-threatening head injuries, filed a Third Party Complaint in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York against third-party Rock of Ages Broadway LLC."

Their statement continues that "Michaels was leaving the stage after performing with the Rock of Ages cast when a set piece was lowered, striking him on the head, throwing him to the ground, and resulting in a near-fatal brain hemorrhage." In their complaint, says Weingarten, "the third-party plaintiffs do not dispute the extent of Michaels? injuries, but rather simply seek to shift the blame ? denying any negligence on their part and alleging that Rock of Ages is either directly responsible for Michaels? injuries, or must indemnify the defendants if a jury determines they were at fault."

?This is a desperate act. The producers of the Tony Awards and their co-defendants cannot credibly deny that they almost killed Bret while he was performing with the cast of Rock of Ages, so instead they are trying to point the finger elsewhere,? said Alex Weingarten, managing partner of Weingarten Brown LLP, counsel for Bret Michaels. ?CBS and the rest of the defendants are just grasping at straws. It was their negligence that injured Bret, and it was then their decision to try to profit from his injuries by joking about them and playing them for ratings. We did not drag Rock of Ages into this, and Bret has nothing but the utmost respect for them, their production and the performers who were on stage and in harm?s way with him that night.?

Weingarten also notes that "After the injury, Michaels? repeatedly attempted to resolve the matter amicably and out-of-court in an effort to avoid adding to the already substantial publicity surrounding the accident. The Tony Awards could have ? but did not ? take advantage of the standard broadcast delay to prevent the video from being transmitted. The incident became an Internet mainstay, and at one point was one of the 10 most-viewed clips on YouTube. The Tony Awards and its producers have yet to apologize to Michaels, let alone take responsibility for the severe injuries they caused. Instead, defendants have sought to point the blame first at Michaels himself, and now at Rock of Ages."

BRET MICHAELS On Possibility Of POISON Tour: 'We're Close To Making It Happen'

Bret Michaels has told Tampa Bay Times in a new interview that he is hopeful POISON will hit the road again in 2017. "It'd be great for Bobby [Dall, bass] and C.C. [DeVille, guitar] and Rikki [Rockett, drums] and I to just be out there and have three months," he said. "It's on my wish list, we're close to making it happen, and I know they want to do it, and they'll have a great time doing it."

Michaels hinted in several 2016 interviews that POISON would re-team with DEF LEPPARD for a U.S. tour in 2017. But LEPPARD guitarist Phil Collen later told the 106.9 The Eagle radio station that he knew nothing about the proposed pairing.

POISON and DEF LEPPARD first hit the road together back in 2009, and then again three years later.

POISON appeared at the 2013 Indy 500 Miller Lite Carb Day, but has otherwise been mostly playing private shows, including one in January 2015.

The band hasn't done any major touring since taking part in the 2012 "Rock Of Ages" trek with DEF LEPPARD and LITA FORD.

Rockett was recently declared cancer free after undergoing an experimental treatment. He was diagnosed with oral cancer back in 2015.
