I'm 99% sure I will try and get tickets for this show.  :D  I have to start looking for a hotel near it.  I just don't want to get them and they play in NYC or NJ the next day.

Thats what Im thinking, if they play at MSG on the 10th of Nov, Im not going to want to go on the 13th, but I think Im going to go ahead and get them anyway, besides they ll be alot easier to get then for MSG.  Is the presale password goign to be distributed through the 1st Mariner website?

I'll probably be at this one, along with any shows in PA. I'm guessing Pittsburgh will get a show. Not so sure about Philly.

I'm definitely going - since I assume this means no Washington DC show.  Now where do I get the presale password?

Was listening to the radio this morning... GNR is getting some bad press... They were talking about the last show and said how most of the people left because gnr went on an hour late and then "more people left because they started playing a bunch of new songs that no one cared about" they also complained about axl changing outfits too many times.

Have you been under a rock for a long time?  Of course Axl gets bad press!  In fact, that review was a sack of shit.  I saw it myself a few days ago.  If you let that influence your view of GNR, that's pretty sad.  Go to a show and draw your own conclusions.   ;)  When I say the 3 GNR shows I've seen live are among the 3 top 10 moments of my life, I'm not exaggerating.

I got my ticket for this show today.? Section 104, Row B, Seat 11.? I am new to this forum, but hopefully I will get to know some of you all a little between now and November 13th.? I don't mind going places by myself (sometimes I actually prefer to), but I like to meet up with people once I get where I'm going.

Anyhoo, I posted a little introduction at http://www.heretodaygonetohell.com/board/index.php?topic=35143.1390 if you want to know more about me.

Also (and I hope it's okay to post this here!), in case anyone is interested, L.A. Guns is playing in DC two days after GNR plays in Baltimore.? If it is indeed okay to post this here, I will add a link to the venue, or you can ask me for it via PM.

Should be okay...? The Baltimore Arena (um, First Mariner Arena) is a smallish venue; it only seats about 13,500 for concerts...? If you picture the venue like the face of the clock, the stage is at 9:00, and your section is at about 11:00.? The only thing to worry about is that there may be some rigging (cables and such) hanging in your line-of-sight.

I am psyched that I got a seat so close to both the stage and the floor, but I am kind of worried that I will end up behind a speaker or something.

If the crew sets everything up properly (rigging pinned to the rafters and speakers at the back of the stage only), we won't have to worry at all.

Right.. they state seat numbers only for the venue to keep track of sales.? GA means you're standing in the pit!

I will be at this show also.  8) I got section FLOOR, row GA4, seat 26. So all GA is the pit right?

Post by: GREASER57 on September 29, 2006, 10:51:55 PM
yeah GA is just standing room in the pit...for the motley crue concert i went and saw there last march there were chairs set up, but in april  i went and saw korn and it was just a big open space....i'm so psyched about this!!!!

I thought about GA, but because I am little (5'4", 110 lbs.) and going by myself, I didn't want to run the risk of getting stuck behind some big n' tall folks and/or sustaining bodily injury.? LOL.? Assuming that my row (B) is just two rows up from the floor, I think I'll have the best of both worlds -- the (slight) elevation and (relative) safety of an assigned seat, but close enough to you GA'ers to feel your passion.? SO PSYCHED!!? ?:headbanger:? ?;D

GA = General Admission = standing on the floor.  As someone mentioned earlier, the numbers are only for the venue to keep track of sales.

Baltimore is not bad.  You have the inner harbor, little italy, and check out fells point.  (it is where they used to film the tv show "homicide:life on the street, and various clubs)  The national aqaurium is awesome if you have time.  So plenty to do.  Ohand there is the block where u have strip clubs.

Really?? I am only 100 lbs and I am going by myself too.? But I got a GA ticket.? I want to be right next to the stage.

The best thing about being a small unaccompanied person at a concert is that it's fairly easy to work your way into a good spot.

(And now you have MR.BROWNSTONE to look out for you once you get there.? LOL.)

If I hadn't been able to get a seat so close to both the stage and the floor, I would've went with GA.? But I'm very happy with what I got.? I won't have to worry about waiting in line and/or jockeying for position in a crowd of people...? I can show up when I want (or rather when I can, considering I'll be leaving from work and fighting traffic) and my seat will be right there waiting for me...? And I can stay sitting it for the opening bands as well as the wait between them and GNR...

a single (or something) being released prior to the show would help. also, i'm sure marketing will pick up in the next few weeks, which will help as well.

i got my buddy to convince a few of his friends to go. also recruited some friends from philly to make the trip down with me. we're up to 6 people now.  : ok:

Me too.? Don't look at it as going "alone".? Look at it as going "by yourself".? 'Coz once you get there, you'll be far from alone; you'll be with thousands of other like-minded people.? It won't be difficult to find some folks to chat with and enjoy the show with, if that is what you'd like to do.? You could also choose to enjoy it totally on your own.? Sometimes I like to be able to focus on what's going on onstage without commentary ("Didja see that?", "Wonder if they'll play this?", etc.) from anyone.

No your seats should be fine.  The seats that are opening up on ticketmaster are in section 109 or 111.

I'm in section 104, row B, seat 11.

Ticketmaster noted that the stage will extend halfway into section 103 (and thus 104 on the opposite side)...  I don't mind a side view of the stage...  I just hope it's not obstructed.

I forgot about that, it did say the stage will be pushed out.? It shouldnt affect your view, and Im pretty sure you'll still have a great time.

I think/hope you're right.

At any rate, I'll definitely be able to hear, which is the most important thing.

And the "side view" could be a bonus if I happen to be on the side that Axl ducks behind for clothing changes and such.   ;)

Good luck to you too, Marcos.? ?:)

I'm actually quite surprised I got my ticket so early (over a month before the show).? I've ordered tickets from TicketMaster well in advance before and not gotten them until the week of the show.? I'm 99 44/100% sure yours are coming.

I will be really honest here...? I was but a young teenager when AFD was new, and while I did go to concerts back then, GNR was not in my area when I was.? A few years later I could have tried to see them, but I was really turned off by the St. Louis and Montreal incidents, not just to GNR but to rock-n-roll in general, and I wound up spending (and enjoying!) the better part of the decade dancing at raves/clubs.? I really feel that this is an older, wiser, more considerate GNR and I am SO looking forward to seeing them next month.

Also, we have some time before we leave the day after the show, any sights we should check out?

Hi Jarmo, are you going to the Baltimore show too?

I am definitely down for meeting folks before, at, or after the show.? The only thing is, with work and traffic, I'm not sure what time I'll be arriving.? I know that some people (myself included) are getting hotel rooms, and since most of the hotels in the arena/Inner Harbor area have restaurants/bars in them, those could be meeting places.? There are also numerous pubs (Maggie Moore's, Wharf Rat, Max's) and coffee shops (Starbuck's, Dunkin' Donuts, Caribou Coffee) all within a short walk of the arena.

As far as sights to see, I think any trip to Baltimore should include a visit to the National Aquarium (http://www.aqua.org/).? I know it is highly "touristy" and some people don't like that aspect, but there are so many cool animals to see...? And not just sea creatures!? There is an indoor rainforest at the very top with all kinds of birds and even a sloth (he can be hard to spot)...? And since I've been (it's been a few years), they have added a large Australian section complete with a 35' waterfall and crocodiles.

As far as food and drink, I recommend the Federal Hill section of Baltimore, which is not far from the Inner Harbor but neither as crowded nor as expensive.? You can sample a variety of food, especially traditional Maryland-style seafood, at the Cross Street Market.? The Thirsty Dog Pub has the best pizza in town.? Mother's is a great place to have a beer and watch Ravens games.? And Turner's is a little gem of a bar that doesn't get as busy as Mother's but is just as great for drinking beer.

I think so...? Might as well get GOOD drinks relatively cheaply BEFORE the show than AVERAGE drinks expensively AT the show.

I can't personally vouch for Maggie Moore's, Wharf Rat, or Max's because I haven't been in them; I've only seen them from the outside while on my way to baseball games or the Inner Harbor.? They're all close to the arena.? Wharf Rat looks the coolest from the outside.??:hihi:

Are there any other locals going to this show who can vouch for one or more of these places??? If not, I would be happy to go on a scouting mission sometime before November 13th.? ?? ?:)? ;)? ;D?

Inner Harbor is really nice and if you like seafood they have some restaurants there that are not to be missed.  I think it was something like the Rusty Scupper (name sounds horrible, I know!) that I went to down there, cost me a pretty penny for the food but oh was it good!  You cannot leave the area without sampling the crab cakes, that is for sure!

It's Guns N' Roses weekend on 98 Rock in Baltimore.  When you hear GNR, call 410-467-ROCK(7625) and try to win a pair of tickets.

I'm not sure how tickets are selling, but this promo (and others to come from both 98 Rock and DC101 between now and Nov. 13th) ought to help pique local interest.

On Sunday a friend and I are gonna scout for a pub close to the arena that'll be good to meet at before and/or after the show.

Results of scouting mission

The arena is located at 201 W. Baltimore St., which is 5-6 blocks from Baltimore's vaunted Inner Harbor.

For pre-concert meeting:

Closest to -- actually, visible from -- the arena at 100 Hopkins Place is the Hopkins Bar and Grill, located in the Days Inn hotel.  It is small and cozy and has the hotel-standard selection of domestic draft beers (Bud, Bud Light, Coors, Coors Light, Miller Light, Michelob Ultra) on tap and "imported" beers ("Sam Adams" - not an import but priced like one, "Yuengling" - same, Heinekin, Amstel Light) in bottles.  I recommend this bar primarily for proximity's sake.

One block further at 206 W. Pratt St. is the Wharf Rat, which stands next to and in complete contrast to a cheesy sports bar that we did not even bother to enter due to said cheesiness.  LOL.  Wharf Rat is big and airy with creaky wooden floors and chairs to match, plus a big-screen TV -- my kind of pub.   : ok:  Best of all, they have a whole bunch of mostly English-style beers that they brew right on the premises, all of which are priced fairly (considering that this is the overpriced tourist area of the city) at $3.75.  I had a blonde and my friend had a redhead (meaning ales, not other bar patrons ;)); both were excellent.  I highly recommend this bar and plan to be there between 6pm - 7pm the night of the show.  (I'm not one of those "stand in line for hours before the show" people; plus, I will be coming from work; so, I plan to get a nice buzz going and get to my seat when the show starts at 8pm.)

For after-concert meeting:

Hopkins normally closes at 11pm, but will stay open later if they get enough business (unlikely on a Monday night, even with the concert going on, because the concert will run later than 11pm).

Wharf Rat doesn't have a set closing time; they generally close once they get slow, but they may stay open late the night of the concert if they know that they will get a lot of business after (hint, hint, go there before the show and tell them you'll be back after ;)).

Beyond these two places, there are all kinds of overpriced tourist traps at the Inner Harbor that stay open until 2am, the best of which, IMO, is Tir na nOg Irish Bar & Grill, if only because their large selection of import beers (including, but not limited to, Bass, Newcastle, Harp, and Guinness) on tap and their very tasty shepherd's pie are worth paying more for.

Tir na nOg is located 5-6 blocks from the arena in the Pratt Street Pavilion.  Beyond that, there are a Hard Rock Cafe; an ESPN Zone; and Baltimore's biggest meat market, Power Plant Live!, a collection of bars/clubs under one roof; 7-9 blocks from the arena.

I took pictures of the arena, Hopkins, Wharf Rat, a bunch of places in Federal Hill (which I highly recommend if you've got some time to check them out) that I'm sending to Snapfish to get developed tomorrow.  I hope to get them posted somewhere on the WWW within the next 5-10 days.

I didn't take many pictures of the Inner Harbor because there are plenty to be found on the WWW already, plus I am anti-tourist-traps (in case you couldn't tell already ;)).  Why pay more for less, unless it's GNR.  LOL.

I am from baltimore...im coming home form college in Delaware for the show... I will be lining up around 8am or earlier for the show to try and get front row. I am also interested in hanging with some fellow board members there are so many places to meet up for drinks and what not it all depends on how far people want to walk. Theres fed hill, fells point " great food and bars" and thhen there is also the actual innner harbor which is very close. There are also some small food shops around the arena such as california tortilla, mcdonald etc. The days in is literally a minute walk from the arena and can be a meeting place. Again I will be in line by 8 am and would love to meet fellow fans of the best band around

I found Wharf Rat's web site (http://www.thewharfrat.com/) as well as a review of Maggie Moore's Irish Pub, which is 2-3 blocks west of the arena (http://www.citypaper.com/eat/review.asp?rid=10110).

For some reason my friend and I didn't pass Maggie Moore's or the other pub that was mentioned, Mick O'Shea's, on our quick-tour...  We started a couple blocks north of the arena, walked all the way around it, then went south towards the harbor, and then went east and back north.  We did see a California Tortilla; a McDonald's; a couple of coffee shoppes; the Radisson hotel; and the Wyndham hotel (where I'll be staying the night of the concert -- it houses an expen$ive steak house called Shula's).

I'm thinking Wharf Rat, but I'm open to wherever most folks wanna go...

The pics I took in the daytime, which are mostly of the Federal Hill area I keep talking about, turned out just fine.? ?:)

But most of the pics I took at night didn't turn out well, if at all.? ?:(

Here are the best of the nighttime ones:

Wharf Rat:

I'm sorry I suck...? I had hoped to have some better pics for the out-of-towners who are coming to this show.? ?:'(

I think I'm going - but because of the traffic coming from Northern Virginia, I'm going to wait and come late - maybe around 10 PM or so.  The show isn't selling that well - so shouldn't be packed.  Tickets are still available for the floor as of right now.
Plus I'm by myself so I can work up to the front.....

I believe the arena has its own parking, but I have no idea how much it costs.

There are a bunch of public parking garages in the area that run about $10, but you have to watch when they close...  GNR will probably be on stage past 1am, and some of the garages close before then on a weeknight.

But, being as it's a weeknight, you may get lucky and find metered (until 8pm only) parking on the street.

That's very true, I need to find a garage that will be open when the show gets out.  I'm assuming the ones right next to the arena would stay open but who knows.  I'm going to take a ride up there next weekend just to map things out.

I still can't believe this is the 3rd time this year, that I will be seeing GNR.  2004 and 2005 seemed almost like nothing would ever happen again.

I don't know much about buses, but there is the Amtrak train...  I used the "Fare Finder" at http://www.amtrak.com/ and found a train departing Baltimore's Penn Station (this is definitely the station you'll want to depart from) at 3:55am on the 14th, arriving at Newark NJ International Airport (I'm not 100% sure this is where you want to arrive at) at 6:14am.  The fare is 70$US.  There are trains that leave later for up to 91$US.  Car rental is cheaper...

I used the "Fare Finder" at http://www.amtrak.com/ and found a train departing Baltimore's Penn Station (this is definitely the station you'll want to depart from) at 3:55am on the 14th, arriving at Newark NJ International Airport (I'm not 100% sure this is where you want to arrive at) at 6:14am.? The fare is 70$US.? There are trains that leave later for up to 91$US.? Car rental is cheaper...

Thank you that could work as i can get an airtrain to Newark Penn station it'll be expensive $160 return journey but worth it , i dont fancy driving ill forget im not in the Uk and drive on the wrong side of the road knowing me.

Hmmm this could be fun

I personally think this show is going to be very interesting.  Because its the first show after the Garden, which I'll be at also, but we all know that the Garden could probably be the biggest show on the tour.  So it'll be interesting to see if GNR follows that up.  I think this would be a great show, if they don't do it sooner, but this would be a great show to break out alot of new stuff.  That could be the best way to follow up the MSG show.

Not that it matters, but I plan on getting some merch at this show.  I think the merch stands at the garden will be swamped.

All right, anythinggoes!

This forum is gonna be well-represented at the Baltimore show.  18 members going so far.

Like GnR-NOW, I have a feeling that  this show is going to be very interesting (although I don't know why I feel this way ??? -- just a feeling).

Some (more) new songs would be nice, but being as I've never seen GNR live and in person before, I'll be happy with whatever they play...  Especially if they include "Rocket Queen".   8)

Can you add me to the list going to this show? I'll be in section 110 with my girlfriend and mother.

It's pretty cool to see so many people going from this board. I hope to meet you guys at the show. I've never had  the chance to see the band in my hometown before, I'm definatly psyched about it!

Yea...This show could be something really special.  I dont know why either, but say for arguements sake the MSG has the same setlist, but it wont matter cause its MSG.  But they might want to really explode after that show, and what a better way to follow it  up with a completely re tooled setlist.  Maybe Im getting a head of myself though

Yeah it shoud be  intersesting being the 1st show after MSG. I don't think the setlist would change after it but you never know. Good call on buying merch at this show than MSG cause of the line. I'm going to buy my merch at the NJ one only because I'm driving home right after the show. This one and MSG I'm staying over night. Need the time to drink after the show.

ok here is my situation My flight back to the Uk is at 18.30 on the 14th flying from Newark Airport. I would like to go to this show but i dont know how the public transport works in Us. Would i be able to get a bus from Baltimore to Newark once the show has finished say 2-3am or will it be early morning if so how long would the journey take aprox as i would need to first get to Bloomfeild NJ and then up to the Airport.

Is there an online bustimetable i can check up on

There is a chinatown bus you could consider.

I'm gonna try to be at Wharf Rat by 6:00pm.

After is gonna be trickier...  I'm thinking GNR won't finish until around 1:00am...  Hopefully the Hopkins Bar and Grill in the Days Inn next to the arena and/or Wharf Rat, which stay open only as long as they have a steady stream of business, will still be open...  If not, there are other bars in and around the Inner Harbor that close at Maryland's standard bar-closing time of 2:00am, with last call being 15-30 minutes before that...

After the bars close, I suppose we could party like rock stars, in our hotel rooms...   :hihi:

Hopefully I can get up to Baltimore early enough that day to meet up with the infamous jarmo and all you other board members attending, see you guys there!

i just noticed that my ticket says $75 face, but my receipt from ticketmaster says $77 face value. kinda strange. plus the additional charges which brought the total to about $92.

I'm not worried about it getting cancelled.  But I thought of several reasons why it's not selling well.  Aside from the obvious no CD.  But 1) Baltimore isn't the best area, it's not like NY, its not like AC, or LV. 2) it's on a Monday night and 3) it's right after the MSG show, remember back to 2002 after the MSG show.  But I wouldn't be surprised if the tour really takes off after this show, if GNR can put on another amazing show.

I *know* there are plenty of rockers in Baltimore, rockers who would probably be more likely to go *if* the show was on a weekend (Mondays are always hard, especially in this area of long-ass commutes to work) and *if* GNR had a better track record.  Everybody knows about Philly in '02.  Well, Philly is not far (<2 hours' drive north) from Baltimore; I'm sure some Baltimore-area peeps had tickets to that show and are worried that the same thing will happen.  (Also, wasn't there a Baltimore show that was cancelled after the Philly incident?)  I know that when I tell random friends and acquaintances that I've got a ticket to the Baltimore show, they almost always say, "I hope Axl shows up!"  Then when I assure them that he will, they still give me skeptical looks.  Bastards.  LOL.

Wow.  I really wasn't worried at all, but now it definitely has me thinking, even if they comeback to play the MSG show. I don't want to drive to Baltimore then hve them not show up.  Now we don't know why it was cancelled tonight, but if Axl was sick then that could be why and legitimate, but if it was poor ticket sales ... uh oh :o

I just saved $40 on hotel (and possibly another $5-12 on parking) by switching from the Wyndham (booked directly) to the Days Inn (booked through Expedia).   : ok:

I have faith that GNR won't cancel this show.  There's two full days between this show and the one before it (MSG) -- plenty of time for the band to get rested and ready to play in another big city.

Sounds like a decent crowd will be gathering at the bar beforehand. I'm planning on getting into town around 4, checking in to the Days Inn and then... let the games begin!!!  I'm definitely getting excited about the show as it draws near.  I was at the ill-fated show in Philly a few years ago and had tickets to the next one at the Spectrum. But I did just fly down and see them in Tampa in October and IT ROCKED!!!  If the bars are closed after the show we'll definitely be partying in my room after (like rock stars, of course!)  See you all soon.

Don't look at it as going "alone".  Look at it as going "by yourself".  You're gonna end up in a place with thousands of like-minded individuals, so you'll hardly be "alone", and it shouldn't be too hard to strike up conversation if you like.     And if you go to the Wharf Rat before the show, you can meet some of the folks from this forum...  At least one of whom (me) is going by themself too.

BTW, this is the only show on the tour that's close to me, too.  (I got a hotel room for convenience...  I'll be getting up at 6:00am for work that morning, and after being up from then until ??, I know I'm not gonna feel like driving home.)  I'm hoping there will be another leg in 2007, and that that leg will include Washington DC.   8)

Like any major city, Baltimore has its good sections and its bad sections.  You just have to stay aware while acting like you belong right where you are.  If you look out of place / scared / nervous, that's when you are vulnerable.  And don't give the bums any money!

After reading through most of this thread, im still thinking about going.  my friends are maybe's.

If I do go, i guess i'll show up at the whart rat.  Homemade brews sound good.  Im 23 years old, and looking to get kinda banged up before the show.  So look for me there, I'm a big guy, but I get all jolly when im drunk...and no, I'm not santa claus.

Although a good spot in the arena would be nice, all the pissing I will be doing will probably prevent that.   Hope to meet some of you board members out if I can make it down on Monday night.

I don't know if I wanna bring my digital or not. But idk where I'm going to stash it. This was the first thing on my mind when I was in line for the tickets

Okay, I just called the arena (410.347.2020).  Their recorded info says, "No professional cameras, detachable lenses, video cameras, or audio recorders are permitted at any events.  Standard 35MM cameras are permitted for some events; check with the box office the day of the show."

Also, for GA shows, "no lighters, studded or spiked jewelry or belts are allowed on the floor".

Haha...? You don't owe me anything...? I'd been meaning to call anyway...? I guess the best thing to do would be to ask at the box office on the day of the show if even disposable cameras are allowed.? I don't know where in my outfit I could hide a camera (no place is 100% safe from groping security :-\), and I'd rather not waste even $5.99 or whatever the thing cost.

The last time I went to this venue (2-3 years ago, to see Good Charlotte with my friend and his teenage daughter) they made me cough up my cigarette lighter even though I wasn't on the floor and even though they have a designated smoking area.? The guard did ask me if I wanted a claim ticket to pick it back up after the show, but I told her I really wasn't worried about a 99-cent lighter.? ($5.99 yes, $0.99 no.? LOL.)? So, if you want to smoke at this show, be sure to bring matches.   :smoking:

Hey guys,

just wanted to introduce myself. I am new on here but I am defiantly going to the show! I saw the one on the 5th in NJ and it was awesome! I am showing up early and defiantly stopping by the wharf rat, so if you see a tall chick in a black leather outfit say hi! Looking forward to meeting some of you very soon.

Anybody feel like switching a reserved seat for a GA ticket?  I have a single GA ticket and would like to exchange for a seat - if you have a good seat, PM me and we can meet up before the show.

MSG show was great ! Looking forward to Monday night !

PS I bought the GNR hat 30 bucks and the black GNR shirt with the tour dates 35 bucks.  Total rip off but fuck it, if you're a fan alittle GNR merch wont hurt.

Only two days now!? Is everyone excited?? I know I am!? (Especially since they didn't play my favorite song, "Rocket Queen", at the Garden last night -- maybe a better chance of it being played on Monday? hopeful grin -->? ;D)

I tried to put together a little list of who will be coming to the Wharf Rat before the show:

jarmo
anythinggoes
sandman
inlikeflynn420
Cleopatra2U
elenathedevil
MR.BROWNSTONE
gnfnr2006
cheeser (?)
vedderone (will be in line)
RocketKiller (will be in line)
GnR-NOW (is ditching the pre-show party for some girl ;) hehe)

Anyone else?

Also, I know that at least four five rooms at the Days Inn are booked by GNR fans.? I wonder if the hotel is ready for this.? LOL.

I wont be able to make to the Wharf Rat.  But I will be at the show.  The garden was absolutely packed when GNR came on, not one seat open.  I wouldnt be surprised if the show gets packed right before GNR comes on.  I dont know how the Suicide Girls are going to help the overall appeal of the tour.  But I have no doubt GNR will always be awesome.  Does anyone know how the sound is at the arena?

Worst part about this is Im still not sure if i'm gonna be at the show or not.  My friend wants to go, but just doesnt want to spend all that money.  I offered to pay for part of his ticket, but he says he doesn't want to be a "charity case."  So when I get a final decision from him (hopefully in the next few hours), I'll ultimately decide whether i'll be there or not.

I know its kinda late for these questions, but help is appriciated:

1.  If i buy tickets at the venue tomorrow, will I still be charged the ticketmaster service charge?
2.  How does the will call window work, and does it work well?  never used one, and I will if my friend decides to go.

p.s.

AXL, PLEASE PLAY ROCKET QUEEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I wasnt sure about going to this show for the longest time.  Money was a concern because I didnt want to spend another 90 bucks on a ticket.  And I was going to the MSG show with a bunch of friends, no one wanted to go to this show.  But then I figured hell why not get a 50 ticket, go and just chill and enjoy the music.  So thats what im going to do, and who knows if CD will ever get released, but atleast we can control if we see them while they are touring right ?

Hey far of the walk is it from the? ?Wharf Rat to the arena again??

Two blocks...? The first building south of the arena (box office side) is the Days Inn...? Just walk one more block south past the hotel and turn right and you will see the Wharf Rat.

I imagine there will be more than just us IntarWeb GNR fans there, so I hope I'll be able to discern you all from the rest...? I know what Jarmo and anythinggoes look like from their pictures in the gallery, but everyone else...? ????? LOL.? I'll be wearing my white "One in a Million" t-shirt with Axl on the front and the GNR Lies cover on the back, black mini skirt, fishnets, and black knee-high boots (80's rock-chick attire but without the teased-up hair LOL), so if you see me, holler!? ?:D

IDK about the service charge, but being as the show is NOT sold out, you should be able to walk up to the box office and buy tickets...? I'd suggest calling them first to make sure, tho: 410.347.2020.? And I concur with your p.s.!? ?: ok:

anyway, for those interested, here's a link to baltimore's weather:

looks to be light rain for most of the day until about 4pm, then just clouds and sprinkles for the rest of the night.
High 62 F
Low 54 F
not a great day, but It is fairly warm, not really cold, and there shouldn't be any heavy rain

I'll definitely be there too - but since I'm coming from Northern Virginia - I'm not fighting rush hour traffic for the Suicide Girls.  I'll probably leave here around 8:45 or 9:00 and get there by 10:00.  I'll be in GA.  I would say to "pick me out" of the crowd, but I'm actually wearing a plain black sweatshirt and jeans - so that probably won't help!  I am about 6 foot 3 - so getting there early isn't as important!

Looking forward to this.....  having seen them opening night in NYC at Hammerstein (which was a bit surreal) - I'm curious to see how it goes the 2nd time around.

Does anyone know if this info. is correct. I have no interest in seeing the Suicide Girls so I was going to come a little later. I wouldn't mind seeing Papa Roach

After looking all over the WWW for confirmation of this, the best I've found is:

- a list of tour dates on Papa Roach's MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/paparoach) which says they'll be playing in Norfolk, VA tonight

and

- a list of tour dates on the Suicide Girls' MySpace (http://www.myspace.com/suicidegirls which says that they'll be appearing with Guns N' Roses in Baltimore, MD tonight.

Sounds pretty clear that it's the Suicide Girls.  What I want to be SURE of - is that there are 2 opening acts, and that 11:00 is still really the earliest we should expect Guns.  I'm planning on getting there around 10-10:30.

I know Bach is definetly going to be there. Everything that I've read said the earlies for Guns would be 10:00 but that 11:00 is more realistic. Maybe you should just plan on being there at 10 just in case.

Yes, there will be 2 opening acts. ?(I wish I knew for sure which one was going first so I know how many beers I can drink once I get to Baltimore. ? :hihi:) ?I don't think one can predict exactly when GNR will hit the stage, but I don't believe they've started before 11:00pm on any show in this leg of the tour.

Now I need to get off of this 'puter and head to B'more... ?Have a good time, everyone! ?I'm looking forward to meeting some of you!

If you weren't ignorant, you'd realize it's not a Christina song, it was actually written by a friend of GNR guitarist Richard Fortus, and Christina covered it.

But I wouldn't expect someone who uses the phrase "Gays N Retards" to actually have any knowledge.......

Just wanted to say it was cool meeting some of you at the Wharf Rat.  Definitely a cool bunch of rockers. Hope everyone had as kickass of a time as I did and got home (or on to the next show) safely. Perhaps our paths will cross again in the GnR universe in the future.

Pretty close!  Just out of arm's reach!  (Not that I tried to grab him or anything -- crazy fan is one thing; creepy fan is a whole 'nother story!  Haha!   ;D)

OmG you must've been right near me, too!  I should've figured that at least a few of the fans who were crazy enough to stand outside that long were from here, and/or some of the other GNR fan sites, and said something...  But by then, I was so tired, hungry, and cold, it was all I could do to just stand there.  It was worth it to have met Bumblefoot, who was very gracious for signing something for my friend while listening to me chatter for a few minutes.

Actually, everybody I met two nights ago was super cool, including inlikeflynn420 up there ^ .  I too hope that I cross paths with some (more) of you in the GNR universe in the future.

You met Axl!!!!!!!!!!!! Did you just say hi or kick ass show?????? What was the interaction like? Did you take a pic with him?

I did get a pic with him. He was really cool and really patient. I know its not really his thing to hang around but he signed alot of stuff, shook  alot of hands and took pics. He was really awesome... and SO beautiful up close.

I actually barely said anything to him except asking to shake his hand and take a pic. I was so freaked out. I said that I was shaking and he told me it was because it was cold outside. of course, thats not why i was shaking :-) He's awesome.

I met Bach and Bumblefoot too. Bumblefoot was really sweet. He actually offered to me to take a pic. Bach just looked hot :-)

here's a review someone named Gabe sent me that was meant to be published in a local DC paper but wasn't:

Just when I thought rock ?n roll was all but completely dead and buried, the reconstituted Guns N? Roses band blew through Baltimore?s 1st Mariner Arena and shredded the place Monday night.
There was high drama before this show because eccentric frontman Axl Rose cancelled a concert in Portland, Maine a few days earlier. Portland city officials told the band they couldn?t drink alcohol on stage. What? I wondered if anyone would have had the balls to tell that to Frank Sinatra and his Rat Pack before political correctness began creeping into every facet of our lives and sucking the joy out of a harmless good time. like a  rock concert. Nobody told Frank what to do. Nobody tells Axl what to do. Bravo, aging waster.
Fortunately, town fathers in Baltimore were not on some sanctimonious crusade like their provincial downeast counterparts in Maine. As expected, Axl and the new boys were fashionably late taking the stage. They didn?t start ripping and tearing  until 11:15PM ,  but it was worth the wait.
The first song? Take a guess. It was ?Welcome to the Jungle? at 110 decibels, with Axl coming out of the smoke and flames like a cross between Jim Morrison and Eddie from ?Eddie and the Cruisers.? I thought to myself, ?Axl has lost at least 30 pounds, his voice sounds good and he actually appears?happy! Gosh, his meds, legal or illegal, must be working just fine tonight.?
To be honest, the on again, off again career of Axl Rose over the past decade has inspired more contempt than endearment  from this fan and I was ready to walk away from the show thinking, ? This prick needs to pack it in and get a job selling flat screens
At Best Buy.?
Instead, Axl?s inspired performance sent this clear message to fans at the 1st Mariner Arena and beyond: ?I perform when I am good and ready and when I do you?ll be glad you came or wish you did. Either way, I don?t really give a damn?.
The new Guns N? Roses has a three guitar lineup which added extra fullness to ?Sweet Child o? Mine?, ?November Rain?, ? Live and let Die? and  the killer encore finale, ?Paradise City.? I loved the fact all of Slash?s lead guitar runs were played note for note. Every song sounded like they did on record going back to ?Appetite for Destruction.? Perhaps even better. This band was not gacked to the 9?s on smack and played with discipline and focus. Would you want to be onstage with Axl Rose and miss a note or a cue? I wouldn?t.
Fear can be a good thing and the guys on guitars did their job as if beefy roadies were waiting to pummel them offstage if they let psycho boy down. Fortunately, I would guess they were allowed to die another day.
Late in the show Axl told the audience , ?Its great to be playing Baltimore, the setting of my favorite show ?The Wire?. Big applause from the crowd. It figures ?The Wire? is

an Axl favorite. Its all about drug dealing, corrupt cops and murder. Welcome to the Jungle, indeed.
At the end of the show the crowd was covered in little paper rose petals fired from wind cannons as ?Paradise City? came to a screeching end. The band locked arms and took a collective bow like rock gods from the mid-70?s. I saw Aerosmith 15 times before 1980 and this concert had the same feel as those shows when it was over. My ears were ringing. I looked at my watch. It  was 1:45AM. Axl and his friends drank onstage all night and held nothing back. I never thought Axl or the reconstituted Gunners band would be this good. I?m sure Axl was smirking to himself as he walked offstage, like a
heavyweight boxer who had just pummeled a loudmouth challenger into jelly. And good for him. Long live rock n? roll.

^ Not a bad review.

I think the guy's timing is a little off (I was at the show and texting updates to a member of this board and my records show an 11:05pm - 1:20am set), and I don't appreciate him referring to Axl as "psycho boy", but I concur with his take on the the three guitar lineup adding fullness to GNR's classics, and I really like that GNR won him over in spite of himself.

Thanks for posting that, Chief.

you're welcome.  yeah i don't necessarily agree with his view on Axl being psycho but he was really happy and impressed with the show and he said that in his email.  Unfortunately a lot of people have that impression of Axl and i'm glad that he is changing it!!

I found another great review of the Baltimore show at http://www.rocknworld.com/features/06/GNRLive.shtml.  The reviewer is a little off on the start time -- I have proof in the form of my cell phone, which I was texting updates from, that the show started around 11:05pm, not 11:30 -- and about what Axl said when he took the stage (the reviewer left out the word "fuck", probably on purpose) -- but he confirms something I heard that I had not read anywhere else, and that is that Dizzy's solo included a reggae reworking of part of "KOHD".  I absolutely love this review!

Guns N' Roses Live Review

11/13/2006 - 1st Mariner Arena - Baltimore, Maryland

by James Rodd

I am a Guns N' Roses fan. I am an Axl Rose fan. In fact, I down right idolized him in my teenage years and tried to emulate him in my hysterical attempts at musicianship.

I have seen GNR perform three times now, each time with a different lineup.

The 1st time, 1989 or so, opening for Aerosmith in the Meadowlands (or maybe it was Shea Stadium), NYC. This was just during the break out success of Sweet Child O' Mine. Back then it was the absolute original line up. Slash, Axl, Duff, Izzy and Steven Adler.

The 2nd time I saw them was in 1991. A slightly different line up - Steve replaced by Matt Sorum and the addition of Dizzy Reed. This was the Metallica, GNR show with Skid Row opening in Madison Square Garden. One of the best shows I have ever been to, even if it did result in me bombing my Spanish final the next day.

So this was my third time seeing them. 15 years had passed. The band itself is a shadow of what it was member wise. The only original member is Axl himself. The only other name on stage associated with GN'R of yester year was Dizzy Reed. So with all the hype surrounding this band, the drama that is Axl, the album that we have been waiting a decade for? How was it?

It was freaking awesome! I have been to about 25 concerts, so far, in my lifetime. This was, by far, one of the best.

First off, attendance was a bit less than I expected. By the time GN'R took the stage the arena was 2/3 - ? full. Not an abysmal turn out, but no where near the capacity crowd present at the two previous shows I had attended. This is not a large arena by any standard either. This led me to believe that these are the die hard fans. With no new album to coax the next generation, it's the die hard's that are present. When you look at it that way, and add in the time lapse, it's a pretty good turn out.

Papa Roach, one of the opening acts for the first leg of the tour, dropped off the bill after Friday night's, sold out MSG show in NYC. I figured since no other opening act had been announced that they would go with Sebastian Bach, the other opening band, and then straight into GNR. I was wrong. We were treated to a 45 minute show by the Suicide Girls. This is not a band folks. They're strippers. Naughty strippers. Tattooed, pierced, and definitely on the Goth edge. 5 girls writhing and contorting to a number of rock hits. At first, while clothed, it was like a "Solid Gold" dance troupe, and the crowd and I seemed a bit bewildered, but when those shirts came off, the shock swept across the arena, and the crowd, 70% male, woke up. The girls put on a hell of a show. Though I really wish they had the jumbo-tron working for a better view. My only regret with this part of the show was that I had my 12 year old son standing next to me. But then I thought about it, and this is rock and roll after all. You can see worse on prime time TV lately.

The Suicide Girls were followed by Sebastian Bach and his band. They were excellent. They performed a number of Skid Row hits and three new originals that will be available on a forth coming album. Bas was very professional. The band was very tight and looked to be having a blast. Sebastian Back was very thankful of Axl and the opportunity to be on tour with GN'R. It seemed a little too thankful, but then I thought about it and in today's music climate, where would Bas and his band be if it weren't for this tour? Exactly. So the thanks are sincere and most probably warranted. The teaser of the three new tunes is enough to make me want to purchase the album. I look forward to its release.

GN'R took the stage at about 11:30. The arena went dark. Then a spotlight lit Robin Fink, formerly of Nine Inch Nails, strummed the first few notes of "Welcome to the Jungle". Just a few then stopped. Then a few more and stopped again. Very dramatic, very effective. Each time he did this the bar grew by a measure and he was playing a bit more of the intro to Jungle. Finally, he broke into the full sustained intro as the lights came up and the pyro exploded. Axl took the stage like a whirlwind. "Do you know where you are Baltimore? You're in the Jungle Baby. You're going down!" And like a punch to the head they were off.

This is the tightest band I have ever seen performing GN'R. I am a die hard Slash fan. I'd love to see the original GN'R back on stage together. But if you can't have Slash, Robin Fink and 'Bumblefoot' are a pretty damn good replacement. These guys are virtuosos. I couldn't even keep up with who was playing lead. They switched off so effortlessly and played so damn well that it was truly hard to distinguish. They really complemented each other and seriously love the music. You can't play with that kind of passion and not love it. I can remember a few re-starts of songs at those other two shows in the past; there was nothing like that here. These guys came out, a professional unit, and threw down the gauntlet. Rock is not dead people. It was recharging or something, but it's not dead.

About 20 songs later it was over. Time went by like a flash. They covered all the hits and standards. Threw in a few goodies like "Down on the Farm" from the Spaghetti Incident and an electric version of "I Used to Lover Her" from Lies. They played three songs from the upcoming album, "the Blues," "Better" and "Chinese Democracy."

Axl's voice was stronger than I recall. He hit every note and really showed of his range and ability to hold notes. I can't say enough about Robin Fink and Bumblefoot. I was in awe of them the whole show. The replacement drummer, Frank Ferrar, stepping in for Brian "Brain" Mantia, was damn good too. No flashy solo's by him, but a true professional through and through. I was always impressed by the massive kit Matt Sorum used and kind of felt, to play the skins for GN'R it must require a kit that big. But Mr. Ferar pounded out the tunes effortlessly on a normal sized kit. Proving it's the musician not the instrument.

The set list for the show went like this:

? Welcome to the Jungle
?  It's So Easy
? Mr. Brownstone
? Live and Let Die
? Knockin on Heaven's Door
? Robin Fink Solo
? Sweet Child O' Mine
? You Could Be Mine
? Dizzy Reed Piano Solo on a Baby Grand wheeled to center stage, Axl on the maraca's of all things, a very cool reggae like instrumental version of Knockin on Heaven's Door.
? The Blues
? Better
? Band Intro
? Bumblefoot Solo
? Bumblefoot joined by Robin Fink for a truly bad ass, blues solo
? Out to Get Me
? November Rain, Axl on the wheeled out Baby Grand this time
? Down Here on the Farm
? Don't Cry
? My Michelle, joined onstage by Sebastian Bach, excellent
? I Used to Love Her
? Patience
? Nightrain

Encore:
? Chinese Democracy
? Paradise City

It has always been a guilty pleasure of mine to hear the solo albums of great bands. I've always felt it gives you a behind the scenes look at the heart of a band. Find out who the true creative entity is. Though this new album was not a solo effort per say, its pretty obvious who the driving force behind GN'R truly was, in concert and on the new tracks. W. AXL ROSE.

Axl made a serious effort to come back out and thank the audience for their attendance and to show his appreciation for their appreciation. This was way different than the mic slam to the floor that ended the previous two shows I had seen. It seems AXL has grown up, GN'R has evolved and has the potential to rule supreme again, and I thank you Axl. Now get that album out. There's still six more Tuesday's left in 2006.

Sorry no pictures but that show was like a dream for me, still is.

By the way, all you fans should watch The Wire, proclaimed by the man himself (Axl) as one of his favorite shows.
