To anyone planning on attending the Detroit show on November 26:

Please PM if you're interested in a pre-show party. I'll be more then happy to arrange it. I was thinking either Hoops or The Post would be good ideas but since the show is on a Saturday I'll need to work on it ASAP to get it arranged.

If anyone will be coming in from out of town and wants help with anything in the area, I'll be happy to help with that as well. Again, just contact me through PM as soon as possible so I can be of the most help.

Feel free to resond the this post also so others can get an idea of who'll be going.

Any word if this date will have a pre-sale since it was added late?

Just waiting to see what the deal is for the presale or general on sale  :o

I'd be interested in a Pre-Party.

Just curious... do these tickets go on sale tomorrow?  According the press release "Tickets for most go on sale the 30th of September (which happens to be my birthday!)" and as of yet NOTHING is on TicketMaster's site, nor the Palace's official site, nor any major Detroit radio station website for this show!

I've got to work tomorrow and I don't want to end up getting boned on the whole ticket situation...

kind of strange that I am in a live chat with a Palace of Auburn Hills employee and he is swearing that they know nothing about this concert date

I just copy/pasted the MTV News article for him, and he's trying to tell me it's from 2002

I just called the Palace and they said they didn't have any information.  The lady told me they usually find out on Wednesdays for shows that go sale on Friday or Saturday.  So if that's true, there will be no info until at least Wednesday.

Me too! I'm in retail so it wasn't the easiest thing in the world to secure either. I'm sure this date is legit and we'll know soon whats up. Hopefully our little group or Detroit bound people keeps growing. Anyone have a preference on the pre-party being at Hoops or The Post?

There was a request for GNR during the WRIF High Noon Request Hour. After they played Don't Cry and SCOM, Doug Podell confirmed the Palace show as well.

He said they weren't allowed to give out any official info yet.

So here we are on Wednesday night with no ticketing info at Palacenet.com, gunsnroses.com or ticketmaster.com.

I'm almost hoping that these tickets don't go on sale until next weekend at this point. I've got too much to do in the next 3 days to keep checking and I don't wanna get screwed on tix!

It might  be like the last round of presales.  Friday at noon they appear on gunsn'roses.com

That's just speculation, but I'm hoping that's right.

I am kind of hoping the same thing, but more concerned that the only selection will be for GA Floor seats.  A lot of the gunsnroses.com pre-sales didn't have seats as selections.   :-\

I will at least be in a position on Friday to check around noon so that won't be too bad if that's true.

As far as GA on the floor, I'm kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place on that one. My wife is far too short to really enjoy GA on the floor, but almost all my other friends going want to be on the floor.

GA is the only way to go. I went a crue concert and they only had seats and it kinda blowed  :smoking: this way we can actually get up close and personal with the band and maybe even get in the camera shot  : ok:, but the thing is that you have to make sure you do nopt get trampled because its one giant mosh pit

Just wondering if there is *any* word on this being added to Ticketmaster or if there will be a presale on this site...

I don't work until 4pm tomorrow, so I'll be checking to see ANYTHING here and the new handy-dandy official site to see if we (we being my wife and I) can get some tickets.

If they go on sale on Saturday, we will most likely not be able to get decent seats (which would suck the big one).

If they go on sale at some later to-yet-be-determined date, we'll be there & possibly, we'd be at some pre-show festivity (should one still be planned).

I am glad to see it finally on the official site.  That's one step at least...

Nothing better than the thrill of GnR in the air and nerves and anxiety that comes along with it.  I am still checking the ticketmaster and the gunsnroses.com  pages almost on the half hour (THANK GOD FOR pointless office jobs with internet!!!).  I am paranoid about the palace show, because of how shitty the fans and energy were in 2002.  Thats why Axl stopped at patience, the lights came on and a bunch of eminem listing wannabes were standing like statutes.
Everyone dont count solely on the gunsnroses.com either, the CLEVELAND SHOWS ARE AVAILABEL ON TICKET MASTER but NOT on gunsnroses.com.

Also, what a surprise it would be if Kid Rock showed up, AGAIN.  I would rather him stay away, he fk'd up nightrain in New York, and be serious Axl is the alone person that can do the serpentine sway!
Where are all the pre and post parties going to be??

Remember with all other groups its a comeback, with Axl its a RESURRECTION!

There's a thread in the GN'R On Tour section where we've been discussing the Pre-party plans as well as ticket info we may or may not get. Check there from here out, it's gonna be updated more then this thread.

I've been thinking about planning the pre-party and The Post is most likely where it's going to occur.

Yeah, he wasn't there in 02 (but then again they didn't play an encore) but he'll probably be there this time. I personally can't stand that he lives in Detroit. He's *always* showing up at other peoples shows and it bothers the piss out of me.

The chances of him showing up are at least 50% if not better.

As for the show, the original press release said Bach would be on at 8 followed by the other band at 9 and GN'R shortly after 10.

There is no way to predict when the show will end.  That is the beauty of GNR.  The show might be short or a marathon.  Just like not knowing when tickets go on sale, you never know when Axl will hit the stage.  I love the anticipation and wouldn't have it any other way as long as they play.

Hey Man
Im from windsor as well. Basically I think you are out of luck for a shuttle to the palace unless you got cash. 2 years ago, the 2nd night i arrived in windsor  (orig from calgary) I had tickets to a David Bowie show at the palace. I did not realize the palace was so far away and having no car, not knowing anyone, and not wanting to miss the show, I ended up taking a car serivce, and $200 CAN later, i got to see bowie... 2 Years later i still doubt they have any sort of shuttle, but who knows maybe something will get organized...
Im still not sure who and how many of my buds are heading to the show, bud maybe we will have a extra seat. keep on the forums...
 G

and lets get those tickets on sale.......

I was sick all weekend and just now saw the messages about a shuttle.

Yeah, there's no real shuttle all the way out to the Palace from Windsor. My best suggestion would be to take the tunnel over to the States and get on Jefferson Ave. Take Jefferson Ave to I-75 North. The Palace is gonna be about 40 mins north of there. The Post (where I'll be arranging the Pre-party) is directly across the street on the East side of the Palace.

The only bad news is that the concert is happening on a Saturday which means alot of our 19 year old Americans are gonna be crowding the boarder to go to the clubs and casinos. You might get in a traffic jam depending on when the concert ends.

Yeah. It's a sports bar, they serve dinner and all that shit too. If they are ever 21 and over only, I am thinking it'd be after 11pm and we'll all be in The Palace by that point.

well, it looks like all of the other cities/venues have their on sale links up on ticketmaster now except for....Detroit.  :-\

As for pre show meet up at 'The Post', if you are under 21 you should be fine.  You might not be able to sit at the bar itself, but I don't think there will any problems otherwise.

I am so excited and the concert is still over a month away.  I think I am going to need to get some Black Death Vodka for the pre show, either that or some high grade gasoline.  THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO POSTED that they got tickets so I looked at the official page and got them even before the presale at ticket master!!!    This is going to be an awsome show, the buzz is already better than 2002!!! The wrif is already pushing the show too.

Everyone is in for a real treat if there point of reference is the 2002 Palace Show!! Axl is in so much better shape and sounds amazing compared to 2002!  I saw him at the hammerstein in NY may 17 2006.  I am still recovering from the eargasms.  He is back to his dancing running around self, not to mention he doesnt get as winded as he did in 2002.  He is really dedicated to making this tour and record change the music industry.  LIsten to CD and think about him talking about the record industry!!! just a thought

Remember that in 02 we got the only North American playing of Rhaid at the Palace. Even though Axl walked out on the show after Patience, the show still fn' rocked!

they played 2 gnr songs..and, then said "caller #35 gets 2 tickets to the show."
they said there gonna be giving away more during the day, etc..

they sound pretty excited..
they talked a good spot about it..
though, they said some shit about him walking off and letting Baz sing during that one show..
making it sound bad..and, they said they hope that doesnt happen during the Detroit show.. :hihi:

I was going to set the pre-party up at The Post. It is directly across the street from the Palace and they will shuttle us to and from the show. Is 6pm ok with everyone to start the pre-party?

Axl walked out because the house lights came on during Patience and he saw how pathetically dead a majority of the crowd was and didn't want to continue the show.  Especially the fact that someone in the band messed up patience causing Axl to sing the wrong verse order.  All in all it was a true GnR experience, 2 hours waiting for Axl and walking off early, I am not bitter at all and wouldnt have had it any other way.  Plus, City is not one of my favorite songs and not losing any sleep over not getting confetti'd on.  Side note, the worst part of that show was Mix Master Mike as the opener!

Anyone know what time they are opening the gates to get into the parking lot?  Six seems kind of late to me, but I am GA and want to get their pretty early.

The house lights did not come on during Patience. Not only was I at the show and don't remember that happening, but the DVD bootleg I have shows otherwise.

The part about someone fucking up during Patience is very true however.

The gates to the Palace generally open at 5pm everyday unless the show starts at 6:30pm, then the open the gates at 3pm.

Then my memory fails me, maybe a flash of stage lights went out or something, I specifically remember it when happening when Axl  sang "'Cause the lights are shining bright" might not have been house lights, but a stage affect.  But thats my memory, but who knows I could have created the memory, I cant argue with indisputable video evidence like the NFL refs, lol.

haha....true... Yeah, it was the weirdest thing I've ever seen. Right before Robin's solo Axl threw his mic up and left the stage. I thought for sure he wasn't coming back. But then Robin started playing the rest of the song and Axl came back to sing it. I was like "WOW! He came BACK! I can't believe it!!" then he just sang the end, threw his mic again and left.

I was like "Um.....ok.....he kinda came back I guess" hehe.

I don't feel cheated or anything. I didn't mean to give that impression. The show was awesome and we did get that one and only playing of Rhiad. I just maybe Axl might say something at this show like "You know, the last time we were here..." or something like that.

Everything on the floor is GA. It doesn't matter in anyway if the tickets have seat numbers on them. Every single ticket for the floor is GA. The only assigned seating at all are in the sections (lower and upper bowl).

The numbers on the tickets don't have anything to do with the actual number of tickets sold. I just wanted to make sure that no one was going with the expectation of seats being anywhere on there floor, thats all.

I just got my email from ticketmaster that the GnR tickets for the palace go on sale this saturday.  Thank God for the useful little tool called the internet!!  As far as pre-party goes, I was thinking like noon, what time does the Post open?  I am just paranoid about getting there early for GA.  Plus, I plan on being "loaded like a freight train and flying like an airOplane" by the time the show starts.  Only to be intoxicated again by the lyrics and voice of AXL.  If anyone else is interested in some earlier pre-party let me know, I could try and plan something.  I have a group of about 5 currently, non board members.

The Post by the palace is a bar and grill and has decent but of course over priced grill food, according to my brother.  I have never been so I cant say for sure.

Any way to merge this all into the Nov 25th Auburn Hills Show thread?

True, but the pre-party at the post is  going to start at around 5-6.   I  was curious if anyone was interested in a pre pre-party.  I was thinking we could just get to the Post earlier, but they don't open till 4.      I hope I am not stepping on anyone's toes if this has already all been worked out.

As long as The Post is open when the concert is over (read: as long as GN'R go on around 10 or 11) then we'll be partying there afterward.

I'm going to make the final plans for the pre-party this weekend. I need everyone to do me a small favor.

Please PM me if you plan on attending EVEN IF YOU ALREADY HAVE and give me an idea of how many people you're bringing with you.

I want to be able to give The Post an fairly accurate head count so I can try to get us drink specials or something.

Thanks!

Title: Re: November 25 - Auburn Hills, MI @ The Palace of Auburn Hills
Post by: russtcb on October 13, 2006, 01:48:48 PM
I called The Post today and this is all the information I could gather for the pre-party:

The open at 5pm on Saturdays. The recommend that we try to show up as close to 5 as possible to secure a good amount of space in the bar area. They always have drink specials on show evenings and they have already planned to be pumped Guns N' Roses through the bar that entire night. I let her know that I could make a wicked MP3 disc for them to use and she said they would love that.

They will shuttle all concert goers to and from the Palace in roughly 30 minute intervals starting at 5:30pm. She said they have a direct line to the Palace management so they are in the know as to what is going on at all times. So dealing with a band like GN'R and their timing issues won't be a problem.

As soon as they last song is started the bus driver will be waiting at the WEST Entrance doors and run bus loads of Post customers back to the bar (their cars as well) until the crowd is gone.

Thank you to those who have PM'd me with their head count for the party. It looks like there's gonna be alot of us there!! I can't wait to hang out with everyone. If anyone still has more driving or travel questions in general do not hesitate to contact me and I'll do my best to help you out!

Yep. That's one of the reasons why I made sure they shuttle back to The Post no matter what time the concert ends. I didn't want all of us to have to walk all the way back the The Post in the middle of night in the dead of winter!

I love Gn'r more than any other band but the album really needed to be released prior to the tour. I think we should all prepare for the worst so we dont get our hopes crushed. It will interesting to see how other poor selling shows go.

Man, I have been checking out these threads just to see what people have been posting.  I have the same concerns for my show too (Minneapolis). A real big kick in the balls came with the Aerosmith/Motley Crue PRESALE tonight for Minneapolis tickets at the same venue. As of one day of ticket sales, the Aer/Crue show has sold out the floor and lower level at $123 a pop. Granted, its a two band show, but shit, The Crue just played a show in Minneapolis a week or so ago, and Aerosmith seems like they have a concert here every year. After a full week of GNR being on sale, floor tickets and good lower level seats are still available.

I just don't want my, or any of your shows to be shit canned due to poor sales....Hopefully they will pick up for all of us who planned to go to the shows, I think Better may be released next week.

Sorry to hear Minneapolis is selling so poorly as well. What i dont understand is Aerosmith is coming here again in december (they were just here oct 15)  and they are playing a smaller arena than GNR. I like GNR a hell of a lot more than Aerosmith but if Aerosmith thinks they can only fill a 12,000 seater why does GNR think they can play a 18,000 seater in detroit?

I think they needed to play theatres if they were going to tour without a record. They could charge $85 a ticket and they places would sell out, produce a huge buzz for the album and future arena tours.

I just dont understand what their management is thinking touring before the album is released. I just cant imagine them playing to a 1/4 arena. I remember back in 97 The Smashing Pumpkins lined up 2 shows at the palace and the 2nd show sold real poorly so they moved it to the state theatre. If that happened i would be pretty happy.

Two promotional bits:

1) The Palace sign by is now advertising the show. The weird thing is it says "Guns N' Roses Saturday November 25" in the Live Era font. I thought that was kinda funny.

2) Almost every single time a GNR song gets played on WRIF they mention the show directly after the song ends.

I called both WRIF and The Palace and both were "sure" that Bach was the only opening act. I'm sure their wrong, but that's the story they're sticking with thus far.

ticket sales arent that good.  my seats are 126, row FF that i bought at the presale start and they are only a few rows behind that right now.  wish they would pick up

tickets are just way too expensive for the amount of people that like guns n roses.  most people arent willing to shell out that amount of cash for it.

Sent this to alot of attending members in their personal box, then just thought I'd post it here so I don't miss anyone:

This is a reminder about the pre-party at The Post this Saturday prior to the show. The Post opens at 5pm and we can begin the party right when they open the doors!

The Post will shuttle concert goers to and from the show so we can remain parked across from The Palace. They have a direct line to The Palace and the shuttle will start to run as soon as the band starts their encore.

I am currently scheduled to work until 5:30pm on Saturday and I trying to get that switched to 4:30 so I can be at The Post when the party starts. If not, I'll be there by 6pm at the latest. I'll be in my HTGTH shirt and you should be able to spot me pretty easily.

The link to the bar's website is below in case anyone needs to contact them or get directions. If you need anything from me, please feel free to PM me for info.

See you guys on Saturday!!! LET'S ROCK!!!!

I have 2 tix to the show at the palace this saturday.  These are great seats and unfortunately i have to give them up to sit in the upper bowl because i am now going with a larger group of friends and we all want to sit together.  These are in section 126, row B (which is the 2nd row from the floor).  Tix were $90 face value with tickets.com service charge.  I can do the exchange at the concert or before if you want.  Email me KMacBlue23@yahoo.com

Your best bet would probably be to come to the pre-party at The Post and see if anyone wants to "upgrade" to the lower level or see if there are people there without tix yet.? ?: ok:

Also in Sec 126, Row B would be the 8th Row from the floor; rows in the 100 level start with rows 'AA thru FF' then go to rows 'A thru R'.? http://www.palacenet.com/files/palace_gcs_map.pdf

What do you mean by the term "wardrobe"?

As far as entrances and times, the doors open 90 minutes before the first act according to the Palace which would mean they'll open at 6:30. Pretty much everyone uses the West entrance for some reason.  If you're looking to get to the floor fast I would recommend the East because it's on the opposite side and you'll still be able to get to the floor from that side.

Still not sure what you mean by a "wardrobe" though...  :)

Oaky Thanx......I thought of a place where you can put your jacket during the show. Maybe wardrobe is a wrong term sorry for that....Coat drop off should have been a more appropriate term.

cant really remember, but i think it might have been 8, 9, 10, and 11:30 for GNR (estimating).  When I got there at 8, the opening band was already playing, and they had about 20-30 minutes inbetween the opening bands and a lil longer for GNR.

Here's a review I just found, pretty decent:

http://www.theoaklandpress.com/stories/112806/loc_2006112807.shtml

Web Exclusive
Guns N' Roses, Tenacious D Rock The Motor City

Web-posted Nov 28, 2006

By GARY GRAFF
Of the Oakland Press

Forget the BCS standings. On Saturday night, the Detroit metro area hosted a battle for the title of Most Awesome Rock 'n' Roll Band on the Planet.

Duking it out in separate corners were Guns N' Roses, which really did set? rock's standard for awesomeness in the late '80s and rocked the Palace of Auburn Hills with a very late but fierce display of muscular hard rock, and Tenacious D, the comic metal duo of actors Jack Black and Kyle Gass who had a devilishly good time?convincing the crowd at?Detroit's Masonic Temple Theatre that it was "the greatest band of all time."

Like many college football polls, no clear-cut winner could be determined, but both shows had abundant merits tempered by a few shortcomings.

No discussion of a Guns N' Roses concert can be had without mention of the time issue, of course. The group, whose sole remaining founding member is frontman W. Axl Rose, hit the Palace stage just after 11:30 p.m. Saturday - more than 70 minutes after former Skid Row singer Sebastian Bach finished his opening set and late enough for one to see Tenacious D and still make it out to the Palace in time for GNR's start. But it also gave the already fired-up but sparse-looking crowd of just over 7,500 time to get a bit drunker and rowdier and start a few more fights during the wait.

Rose made light his reputation during the two-hour and 15-minute showing, explaining that "for me, this is morning. Consider me your Captain Kangaroo. I'm just here having a good morning workout time with my friends in Michigan." Maybe so, but it was late-night for the crowd, and who, after all, does Rose's self-involved temperament really serve? Certainly not any underage fans who may have had to leave due to curfew restrictions - especially if they drove to the Palace. Certainly not any of the fans who had to endure the lengthy wait.

And certainly not the band or the show itself. Saturday's crowd was a shadow of the size of audience GNR used to command, a function of the band's diminished footprint since its last set of fresh material was released in 1993. And you can bet some of the reluctance to turn out for the show was a function of the near-certainty that Rose and company would be late - assuming they played at all (and last-minute cancellations have been known to happen) or didn't bugger out early, as Rose did during GNR's 2002 visit to the Palace.

As it was, GNR gave the faithful the works this year - and as potent a rock show as any band turns out these days. It was heavy on favorites - "Welcome to the Jungle," "It's So Easy," "Mr. Brownstone," "Sweet Child O' Mine," "Patience," "Nightrain," the epic "November Rain," "Paradise City" and covers of Paul McCartney & Wings' "Live and Let Die" and Bob Dylan's "Knockin' on Heaven's Door." GNR also offered a generous helping from the long-awaited and still-unreleased "Chinese Democracy" album, including the biting title track, the industrial-flavored "Better," the melodic epic "The Blues," the charged "I.R.S." and the moody "Madagascar."

Changing tops a half-dozen times, Rose looked leaner and even more animated than when GNR was last here, and his trademark wail as in good form. The band, particularly longtime keyboardist Dizzy Reed and more recent guitarists Robin Finck and Richard Fortus, proved able replacements for the original GNR cast, although the solo spots that padded the show - a gratuitous hard rock indulgence in the best of circumstances - seemed particularly superfluous given the late hour, and significant clumps of fans trooped out as the show went on so that maybe half were around as the confetti swirled overhead as the band played "Paradise City" when most bars were making last call.

And that late start is for who's benefit again?

I cut the review of Tenacious D.

I was there it rocked hard! Definetly a decent crowd of 8,000 being the fact Michigan is stuck on bullshit hip-hop and stuff, it was wild and at times Axl blew my mind, also the band was good. I can't wait for GNR to come back again, hopefully they do an outside concert at Pine Knob next time! Or even a smaller venue like Royal Oak music theatre that way we can be up close and personal.
