Title: A little taste of "Hometown Axl"
Post by: Layflats on January 29, 2009, 09:18:39 AM
One of Lafayette, IN's local icons passed away late Tuesday.  There are some excepts about Axl in the story...

Enjoy,

Usually when people print LOL I think they are lying, but know that this time (with me) it actually happened.  BRILLIANT!

I think i might have heard about the incident  from a totally different angle.

reading through the article tells me the "Do you know who I am?" comment was more like a jest to the lady who he knew had known him very well.

sweet story.

This story made me go "AAaaaaawwwwww"

I thought it was sweet where it said that he would try to visit her when he came to town once he was famous.  Also makes me think of a couple of icons from the town I grew up in lol  ;D

it made me crave for ice cream.

"My sister Lisa was holding her hand when she took her last breath," Livengood said. "They were talking about something funny, and Granny laughed. That was her last breath."

I'd love to live and die like her.

That was a very touching story. I live in a small town and I know people like her. They are the people you can live most of your life knowing. Always sad to see someone that touches you like that go. But she lived to be 101. We should all be so lucky.
Rest In Peace.

Mos def. It wasn't an rock star ego, you know who I am, thing. To me it sounded like he ordered a sundae in the wrong line on purpose just to get the strict reaction everyone gets who stands in the wrong line.

Just for laughs sort of, which he obviousely got.

People like the cone lady are far and few between. So called originals. R.I.P.  :peace:

I miss my grandma, she died 3 years ago. We used to fight a lot when I was younger, because she'd always let me know if she thought that I had done something wrong. (And believe me she was always right!) But she also always remembered to tell me when she was proud of me or when I'd done something right.
And we used to talk a lot.. I miss her, and I miss that. Sometimes I imagine she's still just a phone call away. :-\

I haha'd so hard I choked a lil bit.   ::)

-shrug- ...shame about the old lady though.  Kinda wish we'd heard the story earlier, it kinda takes away from the humour now she's dead.

My last couple of years at Purdue my wife and I lived in the neighborhood around the park.  We had plenty of visits wit the cone lady.  She was very much like the Soup Nazi on Seinfeld.
