I'm fulfilled already that they opened with CD and actually played ITW.

Now all I need is some bootlegs and pics.

wonder what the GnR Frank chant is all about?

Title: Re: Taipei concert discussions
Post by: ben9785 on December 11, 2009, 08:07:54 AM
I think Jarmo would have mentioned if there was a solo from Richard..

And yes, it seems another well frequented GNR forum is also becoming unresponsive to me..

The GNR Frank chant is probably where Frank keeps a beat going and the crowd answers with "GUNS AND ROSES GUNS AND ROSES" etc.

Title: Re: Taipei concert discussions

just read the update re TWAT being played - too overexcited and misread it.  Thought Jarmo was talking about the James Bond theme of the solo and saying twat in reference to that.  yeah i know, very unlikely!  Nothing fkn wrong with Bond either - great choice Richard!

I am SO fkn happy to hear this song is being played live, I cannot wait to hear it live someday soon (hopefully).  hard to pick, but probably my fave track off CD.  Bet they fkn rocked it.  oh god I want to be there

I'm completely shocked that not only are they adding more CD songs, but they've changed the entire structure of their 2001-2007 setlists. There's been no sign on KOHD or YCBM.

Ok.. "You Could Be Mine" is good..

Adz, I'm just assuming according to a setlist that was posted earlier, and also just because I would imagine Axl would be playing piano on "This I Love" so I expected if that was the case, they'd do the two back to back.. sorry for the misunderstanding..

As Jude said, they're going back to old territory.. hope for a few more new songs..

But anyways, nobody should be bitching about this show/setlist. This is the best thing to happen to us fans, since the album came out. This is one of those days we will remember.

I hope they have 30 - 40 tunes like Ashba said and they rotate some of the set.  Some songs and order have to stay for their stage show (pyro, light cues), but there is a lot of room to mix in other tunes.

Seriously, complaining about them not playing a song at a gig that you wasn't even present at is lame.

No Nightrain???

Who cares?  ???

Man, just check that setlist out!!!
That's just awesome!!!

I can't wait for the Toronto show Axl!!!  :-*   : ok:

No. Just no. I would much rather take Nightrain over This I Love or Shacklers any day. New GNR own the shit out of that song and them not playing it is like a crime against humanity. Seriously, its the one one song I like better performed by the old band then the new. I mean, drop YCBM or something for God sakes. Totally sucks

sorry dude, id rather hear songs that havent been played live yet then one that has been played hundreds of times

Yeah, exactly man.

Let's not all start acting like little children and argue amongst ourselves now.

This is/has been a "Monumental" freaking moment.

I'm glad Axl's back and really glad he's playing a lot of new songs live.

Out with the old and in with the new.

I'm 32 years old, married, 3 kids, and I have a white collar professional job in the financial field from which I am posting from right now.  Can I just tell you how ridiculously excited I am that Axl & the crew are back?  I literally woke up this morning at 5:15 am just so I could get online to see Jarmo's updates from the show, literally on the other side of the planet (in New England, USA).

I can't decide if I am pathetic or cool right now... LOL

I gotta be honest, I'm not crazy about the set list....I'm not happy that there's no OTGM, Nightrain, Patience, Sorry, and Catcher in the Rye.  OTGM, Nightrain and Sorry are raw, angry, and harder and the set list, IMO, is missing these type of songs.  Come on, suprise us....Gimme Civil War...Gimme Yesterdays...Gimme an oldie that wasn't played in '06 or '07!

I also don't like that Tommy sang "My Generation."  It reminds me of the time I went to see Bon Jovi a couple years ago and he played "Shout."  WTF?    Who wouldn't of rather heard Estranged over My Generation?  As if! Finally, I feel like that was way too many encors.

It will be interesting to see if they change the set list from show to show because in '06, they only changed up a couple songs.

Again, this is just my opinion.  I'm extremely happy their back...I've been anticipating this show since it was announced, and nothing makes me happier than that I will be seeing them in Montreal and toronto!

The set list is great, come to think of it, being a GNR fan I don't think they could have a set list that would disappoint me. I mean really they never released a shitty song so even if they don't play my favorites, they'll still be plaing great songs.  Thanks everyone for posting setlists, and the SCOM video.  Hope they come to the States so I can get to a show.

From what I've heard, this all sounds awesome.Sadly, this silly airport incident seems to be taking the spotlight to the actual performance. But whatever.Man, Axl looks and sounds terrific, but are we EVER going to see some decent quality pictures? I'm really curious about his hair, too. Can anyone confirm whether it's straight, long, short, etc? Thanks.

I was wondering if they would play new songs on that tour or would stick to released material this time around, in order to protect future releases. They still could, of course... but I don't think they will.

It was a spectacular show.

The performance and the show itself. Lots of new stuff to look at and I'm not even talking about the new songs or DJ!

So get a ticket and enjoy!

It's been so nice here for the past few days and then it starts raining during the show.

Definitely added another element to the show.

Axl was skating around on stage at one point...

The whole Bob Dylan mention before Knockin' On Heaven's Door was about Axl meeting Bob and Bob just wanting to know when they were gonna record the song so he can get the money....  :hihi:

Sometimes megaupload takes a few minutes from upload to "ready to be downloaded".  Mediafire is better...and should be done in about 10 seconds.

I have nothing to complain about, altough I wasn't there I can say it must have been one hell of a show. Great setlist! Only Scraped and Sorry are missing of those I mostly wanted to see there, but maybe they'll play them in the next shows. It's just great! I've been sitting here since I woke up about 10hrs ago and just refressing this forum to see what's happening and discussing with other fans.. just like in 2006! I hope it's Europe in the summer so I can see them again.

many videos, seems the guy is still uploading them, also "this i love" is there (beautifull song, perfect live version!)

http://www.youtube.com/user/davidwang103688#p/u/2/SAX4oBpr_JQ

Axl has the UYI-look on the Rocket Queen, its like watching Axl from the early 90s. Can't wait to see HQ-pictures, amazing! Also his voice has that raspier sound, those higher screams are fantastic.

I'm doing London and Hamilton. And you can get a "Passcard" for cheaper than a Passport, depending on what state you're from. If you're coming from further East then I am, I believe you'll want to head to Hamilton as I understand it's near Niagara.

Your best bet from down there would be to drive straight up to Detroit, through Windsor and over to London. You're roughly 13 hours from Detroit, then it's about 2 to London.

cant imagine how it sounded live or proshot or soundboard

ALSO

great touch letting Tommy sing a song

Thats one of the things I loved about old school GNR how multiple members got to sing songs etc like Dust or So Fine or 14 years etc.

I was watching some footage with Bucket and Finck and it looked like Finck had just come off NIN tour.  It was disjointed.  Though in the studio I bet it was a different thing.  Now all the players mesh visually.  I love that Fortus, Ferrar and Stinson all have this punk rock background.  One thing about GN'R songs that make them motor is when the rhythm section is tight.  Those three guys are unreal players.

Wasn't there but after getting up at 6am to see what has appeared on line, this is my opinion.

Axl looks amazing and totally cool, I've always loved how he changes his look, even if I haven't always loved the look - in the early 90's when he had the beard he looked like my history teacher! This new look is really cool, I love it.

More importantly his voice, it sounds fucking incredible.

The rest of the band sound tight as fuck. I'm so pleased we got all the CD songs that we did, the new band has ownership of these songs and I think thats added so much. Ron is just such a talent, they all are though. DJ seems like the perfect fit and sounds a much neater guitar player than Robin.

10/10 I just hope they come to the UK sometime soon.

I'm 32 and still hero worship this band like I did when I was 14 years old.

I know what you mean bro. I was 5 when I first heard Gn'R (yeah, I know, lol, so what, I thought the cover of appetite looked cool) I was 9 in 1993 when I first saw them (second row!!!)  And I am still just as obsessed as I ever was

Guns N' Roses Perform At Taipei County Stadium
(http://www.rockstarweekly.com/listenlive.png)

Axl RoseGuns N' Roses kicked off the Chinese Democracy Tour in Taipei, Taiwan, Republic of China last night (Dec. 11 in China), marking the band's first gigs in support of its 2008 CD. Footage from the Taipei County Stadium show has been leaked around YouTube and other video sharing sites with the videos showing an amazing performance from a band that sounds refreshed, energized and ready to kick some ass around the world. Lead vocalist Axl Rose appeared on stage wearing a hat with his non-braided hair pulled back. Taipei television broadcast screen captures show the rock legend in fine form.

The band performed several selections from the Chinese Democracy CD, including opening the show with the title track. The latest single Street of Dreams remains at #44 on the Canadian Active Rock Charts and GNR Greatest Hits rose one point to #18 on the Canadian Hard Rock Charts. GNR Greatest Hits has been on the Canadian charts for 298 weeks. Chinese Democracy topped the charts in its first week of release in 2008, selling 70,000 copies in Canada. The last time GNR topped the charts prior to that was in 1991 with Use Your Illusion II.

The outdoor stadium shows in Asia this month will generate unprecedented world attention as the new GNR have plans for a world tour which will include Canada and South America in 2010. The band returns to Canada for 13 dates in January and February, while the South American shows are expected between March and April.

Flew half way around the world to cover this, and just back checking the
coverage. All I can say, after being to over 28 GN'R shows since 1987, this was
the BEST GN'R show I've seen, hands down! Tommy Stinson and DJ Ashba killed it,
and Rose was on fire--showing more attitude and energy since the 88 Ritz show!
A whole new focus, determination, and was totally blown away! This being GN'R,
it may fall apart tomorrow, but the show last night, reminds why this is one of
the greatest rock bands to grace the planet!
: ok: Its  all happening again

If Taiwanese TV-channel showed some clips, did somebody record it? Hopefully.

Im very happy about DJ, he has brought different sounds to new GNR, and i like it. His solo parts sounded great, considering this was his 1st GNR-liveshow.

The show last night was surreal, sucks for those that weren't there.  From a fan to another, was great.  Was great hearing Tommy sing My Generation, brought the crowd and crew to their feet in joy!

We are working in getting more visuals out to you guys, in real time.  So bare with us while we attempt to move what feels like mountains to get this done.

There are cameras around anymay for the live feed during the gig, so I guess it could be possible to stream that on the internet. I guess I'd be willing to pay a few bucks (or ? really) to be able to watch a gig like that.

Why not just put out a live CD/DVD in time for the US leg of the tour?

Not that streaming wouldn't be cool...but we have had rumblings of official live recordings for a long time.

Hey Fernando, have u mind to do the same thing as livemetallica.com/metontour.com?? It would be awesome if every concert is recorded in soundboard quality. At least it will stop many audio bootlegers in that way!
BTW I like that live stream idea... but can u imagine everyone conected at the same time? I don't know but I think it might be the perfect time to release some GN'R club account to have access to that live stream.

Too. Many. Contradictions. In one sentence. Can't compute....

Uh, anyway... this whole event kinda seems like a new era. Even though CD came out last year, it seems like this is a new start. It seems that every tour GNR have ever done has been a whole different thing and had a unique vibe.

AFD-era
The UYI tour
The 01/02 era with the new band and new songs
The 06 tour with Ron and more new CD songs
Now this one 8)

I would like very much for them to come to the UK. I would enjoy it.

Curious. What is with he mass manipulation in the release of these videos. I mean, the majority of them are of the classic GNR songs as if the one releasing them doesn't think many give a fuck about the CHinese D songs WHICH COULD NOT BE FARTHER FROM THE TRUTH. The truth is I care so much more for the Chinese Songs now, and I want to see them performed (I am dying to hear more of IF THe World for instance). So what the fuck?

Having said that, I am grateful to have anything all.
