Steven Adler To Announce 'A Big Television Show - Major Record Deal'

On May 17th, drummer STEVEN ADLER (formerly of GUNS N? ROSES, currently in ADLER?S APPETITE) will hold a press conference and book signing at Hollywood Soundcheck (located at 8872 Sunset Blvd) next to The Viper Room. Also on May 17th, Steven Adler will reveal that he is joining forces with The Ultimate Warrior ? the former WWF champion and first to beat Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania VI in 1990. Furthermore, Adler will announce details of ?a big television show and major record deal? at Hollywood Soundcheck.

In a rather ironic twist of fate, last year Adler?s Appetite worked with producer and CINDERELLA drummer Fred Coury ? who in 1987 sat in for Steven at a handful of Guns N? Roses shows when he broke his hand. ?Yes I did. I hit (M?TLEY CR?E bassist) Nikki Sixx?s face a good 10 or 15 times. But Fred Coury only produced two demo songs, ?Stardog? and ?Fading?, which are on iTunes right now. I love Fred Coury. He?s a great drummer, a great person, a great producer and maybe I might do some more stuff with him later on. But right now we have somebody else in mind, a huge industry giant. I can?t mention anybody yet. But on May 17th at Hollywood Soundcheck, right next door to The Viper Room on Sunset Blvd., I?m going to be doing a book signing and that?s when I?m going to be able to talk about everything with the record, the band, who?s going to produce it and the record deal. It?ll be a big press conference; I?m very excited about that" says Adler.

And here's video of Chip Z'Nuff talking about how Adler's Appetite has signed a "massive" record deal, which includes a huge advance, and a gigantic record produced by someone like Rick Rubin.

Bad behaviour is pretty much what this band is known for (other than the music)... but I do see your point after reading the topic about his book.

In a new interview on the O. Brown Show, Steven Alder says that when the band starts recording their new album next month, they will be changing the band name from "Adler's Appetite" to "The Chosen Few."

That's what he says.

??? oh God, that is a horrible band name. :nervous:  I wonder if there is a legal thing with using the word "Appetite."   Anyway, I hope that at least some of the songs sound good.  The big appeal of it for me was hearing the AFD songs.  I'll still give it a chance though.

So i applaud Steven for that.

Chosen Few isn't a great name but Adler's Appetite was fucking horrible.  There a local GNR cover bands around here with more creative names than that.  I agree with you D, having a new name shows they are creating NEW music, not just playing Appetite covers.

Post by: FunkyMonkey on August 24, 2011, 02:16:53 PM
From an interview with Steven Adler:

Steven Adler's new appetite

AUGUST 24, 2011

Steven Adler wants to know, ?What is hip??

After a decade or more of study, he has his own answer.

?What is hip today is only hip today. I want to play music that will last and endure.?

Hip, then, is something timeless. Past, present, future.

Adler has a past. He was the drummer for Guns N? Roses before a crippling heroin habit got him thrown out of the equally dissolute band.

He has persevered to the present with Adler?s Appetite, which has been a swinging door of musicians from Ratt, Quiet Riot, Warrant, Faster Pussycat, Enuff Z?Nuff and others coming and going.

And he foresees a future that he is loathe to talk about. It will be a new band with a new name with a producer he also won?t name.

?I don?t want to say anything because I might jinx it,? Adler exclaims. ?I?m knocking on wood.

?What the world needs right now is a good hard rock ?n? roll band and I?m a rock ?n? roller,? he continues. ?I can?t do what?s not in my heart and soul.?

So, whatever Adler?s Appetite becomes it will be the total of things he learned the hard way and wrote about in his book, My Appetite for Destruction: Sex and Drugs and Guns N? Roses. When Guns N? Roses broke up and moved on to various solo and other projects, Adler wasn?t with them. Initially, he was more addled than ever plus it wasn?t in his nature to compete. He recalls reading about Cream, in which Jack Bruce, Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker constantly were fighting, culminating in the fiery Baker pulling a knife on Bruce.

?They couldn?t even be in the same room together,? stresses Adler, who claims the break up of GN?R wasn?t nearly so fraught with bickering. ?I couldn?t imagine!

?I?m not a fighter. That?s why people who were in the band aren?t in the band any more; I couldn?t live with them.

?Life goes on. The guys I?ve got right now make me feel good, make me feel strong, make me feel comfortable.?

Adler?s Appetite refers to GN?R?s first and most significant album, Appetite for Destruction. Take songs from that, throw in a cover by such as Thin Lizzy and the baldly autobiographical ?Alive? and there is the kind of hard rock that has kept Adler together and steered him through what he acknowledges were hard times post Guns N? Roses.

?I brought it all on myself,? he admits. ?I?m still angry.

?I have everything to prove. I was in the major leagues and I threw myself out of the major leagues. I went past the minors. I know I have to pay my dues again if I want to get back on top.

?You would think it would be easy to kill yourself but the body can take a lot of s?t. I guess I wasn?t ready yet.?

As he cleaned up, his book detailing those wasted years made him confront himself. It required a decade of introspection and had a sudden conclusion.

?Once I took full responsibility, it was easy,? Adler says. ?I don?t blame anybody. I lit a huge fire in my fireplace and threw the book into it. That was the past.?

I do actually think it's a good move to change the name of the band, because at the moment people view it as a cheap GN'R tribute thing. If he is out to start something new, then I think this is a perfect move......now all he has to do is stop covering more than 3 GN'R songs at a show.  :hihi:

STEVEN ADLER Comments On Split With CHIP Z'NUFF, Says He Is Launching New Band - Sep. 29, 2011

ADLER'S APPETITE/ex-GUNS N' ROSES drummer Steven Adler has commented on bassist Chip Z'Nuff's (ENUFF Z'NUFF) depature from ADLER'S APPETITE after six years of playing together. "I love Chip Z'Nuff like a brother and wish him the best in all his future endeavors," Adler writes on his Twitter profile.

He adds, "Chip's departure was my decision due to the fact that I am working on an original band with [ADLER'S APPETITE guitarist] Michael Thomas and Lonnie Johnson.

"Our first single has one of the hottest new singers in the game right now on vocals. Hint: his band's initials are just like mine ? AA. [Presumably referring to ASKING ALEXANDRIA. ? Ed.]

"ADLER'S APPETITE will continue to perform together on select dates, but my new project will have a new name [to be announced] in the next month."

Adler's new band entered NRG Recording in North Hollywood, Californiaearlier this week to begin recording its first material. The group spent Monday (September 26) laying down what will likely turn out to be its new single. Adler tweeted at the end of the session, "What an amazing day. We finished our first song today. I'm soooo thrilled we [are] headed in the right direction."

Me too, wasn't too fond of Stardog, but loved Alive and Fading - the latter was a pretty great ballad

They're never likely to win any awards but as a band I'd be interested in purchasing an album, after all, I paid for singles

SLASH To Guest On STEVEN ADLER's New Album - Mar. 15, 2012

Legendary guitarist Slash has revealed via Twitter that he will reunite with his onetime GUNS N' ROSES bandmate Steven Adler to "lay down some guitars" for a song on the drummer's new album. The session is scheduled to take place tonight (Thursday, March 15) at a studio in Los Angeles.

In 2010, Adler collaborated with Slash on the latter's self-titled debut solo album, which scored the highest new entry on The Billboard 200 chart, with first-week U.S. sales of around 60,000 copies. He appeared on the track "Baby Can't Drive", along with RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS bassist Flea, Alice Cooper and Nicole Scherzinger. The song was featured on an expanded edition of the album released by Classic Rock magazine.

Some more on this news:

STEVEN ADLER Joins Forces With LYNAM's JACOB BUNTON In ADLER - Mar. 15, 2012

Former GUNS N' ROSES drummer Steven Adler has joined forces with Lonny Paul (ADLER'S APPETITE) and Jacob Bunton (LYNAM, MARS ELECTRIC) in a brand new band simply called ADLER. The group has completed eight songs for its debut album, which will feature a guest appearance by Adler's former GUNS N' ROSES bandmate Slash. The Los Angeles recording sessions are being helmed by producers Jeff Pilson (former DOKKEN and current FOREIGNER/TOOTH AND NAIL bassist) and Jay Ruston (ANTHRAX, STEEL PANTHER, ADRENALINE MOB).

"I love the music that we're creating!" states Adler. "I haven't been this excited about my band since the GN'R days. Jacob is exactly the singer I have been searching for. He has an amazing range and is a great writer and frontman. Lonny is an amazing guitarist and songwriter and the vibe is amazing!" He added, "I'm so excited for everyone to hear this record!"

What is Steven doing?...

I think Adlers Appetite, was the best chance Steven had of creating a respectable band. And I think people started to dig them, with the inclusion of Chip Z Nuff, I think that partnership was kind of cool.

Why break up a band like that, who had moderate success on a small level at least, in clubs etc?. Maybe they both had to move on, but it's a shame considering they both were genuine friends too.

If your going to create a new band and change the name, don't use fukin "Adler". No one is going to give a damn about a band called "Adler", especially with people who we've never even heard of. Name the band a totally new name, and start this episode a fresh and go with a new feel, create something new.

I don't see this lasting long if I'm honest... :-\

I think it's good for Steven to break away from the Adler's Appetite coverband, surround himself with new people and work on new songs. He shoulda done that years ago really.
About the name, there's Slash / Slash's Snakepit, Duff McKagan's Loaded and Izzy Stradlin (and the Ju Ju Hounds) and you find it weird that he calls it Adler?

Those new people, never heard of them.. but does that really matter? If they play good and have a nice sound why not? Not everyone has/had heard of the players in Izzy, Duff or Slash's solo band :)

I don't really care what the name is. I'm xcited to hear this. The 3 people in the band all look really cool, but a 3 piece band? is there no bass player? does the singer play bass maybe? Is there maybe 2 guitars vocals and drums?

Steven has a history of playing with some pretty good yet lesser-known musicians in his past, outside of GNR.   I really like the new guitarist who joined Adler's Appetite, recently and I think he is in this band too...the one who replaced Alex Grossi.

Former GUNS N' ROSES drummer Steven Adler has joined forces with Lonny Paul (ADLER'S APPETITE) and Jacob Bunton (LYNAM, MARS ELECTRIC) in a brand new band simply called ADLER.

I was curious what this Jacob Bunton sounded like, because I've never heard of him.  Here's a little on him:

Finally seems like Adler is doing something right.  Name the band after himself?  Why the fuck not?  He is Steven Adler from Guns N Roses, why not use his own last name for the band?  Also dropping the Appetite from the name was a great move, this is an original band not a tribute band to his first record.  John 5 and Slash on board so far, well it took 20 years but it finally seems like Steven is on his way to doing his own thing.  Although I hope his band is made up of some younger dudes, who don't look like they haven't left  the sunset strip in 20 years.  I saw his old band at the Whiskey last year....lame.

EXPECTING THE UNEXPECTED: AN INTERVIEW WITH ADLER

Jeb: I am very happy to hear Steven is clean and sober. Steven deserves a chance. I want to ask Lonny what happened to break up Adler?s Appetite.

Lonny: I joined Adler?s Appetite two weeks before the last tour that we did over the summer ? that was my first, and last, experience with that project. We were pretty much just playing Guns N? Roses songs. When we were on tour, during the downtime, I played Steven some of my songs from my past bands and he said they were great songs and that we should look into doing some of this when we got back home. Once we got back home, we started looking for a singer. We found Jacob and it was really obvious that he was the one.

Jeb: It can be very difficult to find a good singer. I recently interviewed Fast Eddie Clarke and he told me that if the singer is any good that he has to be an asshole. He said if they are not an asshole then they must not be a very good singer.

Jacob: I?m not an asshole, you cockscker [laughing].

Lonny: When Steven and I were talking after we met Jacob, we were saying that it was too good to be true. He doesn?t drink and he?s not an asshole. The one fault that we do have with him is that he?s a vegetarian.

Jeb: My daughter is a vegetarian. I just don?t understand you people.

Steven: If you?ve got a daughter then you?re life is in turmoil [laughter].

Jeb: The last time we talked you were doing Adler?s Appetite. I am glad you?ve found some band members that feel like family, as you have not had that for some time.

Steven: It has been a long time and thank you very much for saying that. All I can say is that hard work, persistence and believing in your self is what it takes. Jacob and Lonny came into my life and it has been great. I got rid of the old circle that was in my life and once I did that everything came together.

Jeb: The last time we talked you were trying to get Slash to record with you. Slash and another great player, John 5, both appear on this album. How did that happen and what was it like working with them?

Steven: Slash has been my favorite guitarist since I was twelve years old. We did a couple of singles with Adler?s Appetite and I wanted Slash to come down, but I wasn?t in the right state of mind and it wasn?t the right time. Now that I have been working with Lonny, Jacob and with our producer, Jeff Pilson, I have found that I?m in a better place in my life. Slash isn?t going to come down just for anybody or anything. He came down because I?ve earned his respect and I?ve paid my dues. I am making an effort with my life and my career. John 5 came down too. These guys are superstars. Slash is the guitar hero of the world and John 5 is like the Eric Clapton of the 21st Century. I had to earn there respect for them to come down and I did.

Lonny: From my point of view, I?ve always been a fan of Guns N? Roses and Dokken, so it was great to work with these guys. I love John 5, as well. I was telling my girl that I feel like I am in an out of control car accident but I am not freaking out. I am totally staying in control. I mean I am playing with these guys and I?m not freaking out, but inside I am totally beside myself.

Steven: The way that Lonny felt inside, I felt that way too. The last Adler?s Appetite thing that we did with the old circle of friends and family was New Year?s Eve. On January 2nd, I started working with my new circle of friends and family, Lonny, Jacob and Jeff, and it has been ho, ho, ho, it?s been heavy.

Jacob: When Slash walked into the room it was a goose bump moment. You can genuinely feel the love that these two guys have for each other. These guys have been best friends since they were 12 and you can feel it. I remember being in the vocal booth and looking through the glass into the control room and thinking, ?Everyone in that next room, Jeff Pilson, Slash and Steven Alder, were hanging on my bedroom wall.? I really had to pinch myself.

Steven: You don?t have to pinch yourself anymore. I am going to pinch you because you have a cute little tushy [laughter].

Jeb: We?ve talked about the songs. Tell me what I am going to hear when I hear the first single, ?The One That You Hate? on April 10th?

Jacob: You?re going to hear the introduction to the band Adler. You?re going to hear a straight ahead rock song. It is actually one of the first songs that Lonny and I co-wrote. We had the music lying around for a while. One day we were in Lonny?s office and I was playing around with the music and when I got to the chorus Lonny started going, ?I?m the one that you hated.?

Steven: They were singing about me [laughter].

Jacob: The song just flowed. The lyrics for that particular song are about two people that are no good for each other but, for whatever reason, they won?t break up. I?ve seen it a million times over the years. It could be the sex, or just the convenience, but they just won?t move on, or start over. A lot of people are attracted to the people they hate. Love and hate are actually intimately linked within the human brain.

Jeb: That song will be the introduction, so tell me, when the album comes out what will we get then?

Steven: A head crushing, heart breaking rock and roll band is what you?re going to get. We are out to crush souls, destroy dreams and break hearts.

Lonny: The album has really great rock and roll songs; it really does.

Jeb: I hate comparing bands but if you had to how would you describe it?

Steven: It is where Appetite for Destruction takes off. We did everything possible to not be like the bands that are out there now. Jacob writes songs for a lot of other musicians and singers. When we were in the studio Jeff would say to try this sound, or that sound, and we would. The engineer said he has seen a lot of bands record entire albums with the same guitars and the same amps all the way through. We liked experimenting with the sounds. The world needs a new rock and roll band and we?re just the guys to give it to them.

Jacob: Our sound has the Guns N? Roses edge to it because Steven has such a signature sound on the drums. He is one of those drummers that you hear and you instantly know it is him. We listened to a lot of old albums from bands that had identifiable sounds because we wanted to have an identifiable sound as well. This is really a great rock and roll record.

Steven: We stole from the best. You show me a musician that has never stolen anything from anybody and I will show you a band that doesn?t have a record deal.

Jeb: Are you booking any live dates yet?

Jacob: The plan is the single right now. We have new management with the same guys who manage Motorhead and Anthrax. Everyone in the industry wants us to wait until the album is ready but we don?t want to wait. We are so proud of the music that we?re making that we want people to hear it now.

Lonny: This is Steven?s first album in twenty-five years and we are very proud of it. We are shooting a video for the song and we have a ton of TV stuff that we will be doing. We?re trusting our managers to do the right thing and our focus right now is on the single. Once it is out then we will go from there.

Jeb: Steven, I?m going to ask you a serious question. The industry has changed over the last quarter of a century. The rules have changed. People, like it or not, or going to steal your music. How do you counteract that?

Steven: You don?t. All we can do is go out there and give it our best and believe in it. The more people we can play too the better. If you get a Gold record nowadays then that is huge and that is so sad.

It really is all about playing live. It is all about playing for the people. I want to play to big bikers with big beards who wear leather jackets and I want to see them crying.

Jeb: Crying?

Jacob: I want to see boobs.

Jeb: I agree with Jacob. I?m more of a boob man than a beard guy.

Steven: I want to see people crying because if they are crying then they are loving it. I want to see smiles on their faces and tears in their eyes.

Lonny: There is no way to combat what is going on in the music industry. The new generation has grown up with internet access and there is always going to be sites like Napster. You can do what Metallica did and fight them but all that did was piss off a bunch of Metallica?s fans. I am not saying to embrace people illegally downloading your music, because you need people to buy it, but there is just nothing you can do about it. We want people to buy the record, but at the end of the day, we want people to hear our music.

Jeb: Is this album better than Chinese Democracy?

Steven: Of course it is. Can you name one song off of that album? Within one day of this record coming out you?re going to know the names of every song.

Jeb: Adler, you have a good gig going on. You get to sit back and bring these guys with you who are writing some awesome music. If this music is half as good as you?re saying then you?ve got it made.

Steven: Yeah, I have a high profile name, and I?m thankful and I?m glad to have it, but it is not me bringing these guys along; it is them bringing me along. These guys are superstars in their own right.

Jacob: Lonny and I have actually sold 80 million records [laughter].

This sounds good to me, it'll be interesting to hear the full album. Many great names involved, Jeff Pilson from Dokken (ex-member) is the producer and of course we have Slash & John 5 on some songs. Nice!

All in all i hope all the best for Steven, even though the saying goes "once a junkie, always a junkie", i really hope that he will stay sober and live long life.

New song "the one" is great.   The band sounds so solid...and Adler's drumming sounds great.   I actually like this song better than "You're a Lie" by Slash.   I also think this singer has a better voice than Myles Kennedy.  Also gotta give Adler props for not just trying to make an 80s sounding AFD song.

ADLER, ?THE ONE THAT YOU HATED? ? SONG REVIEW

Adler ? the namesake group of former Guns N? Roses drummer Steven Adler ? will issue their first single, ?The One That You Hated,? on iTunes on April 10.

The song title indicates Adler has certainly experienced his fair share of love and hate relationships, but make no mistake about it ? he loves being a part of this trio and is thrilled about the new single.

The song is now streaming on Revolver and as we previously reported, Adler himself hasn?t been this excited since the GnR days.

?Jacob (Bunton) is exactly the singer I have been searching for,? Steven said. ?He has an amazing range and is a great writer and frontman. Lonny (Paul) is an amazing guitarist and songwriter and the vibe is amazing.?

The song opens up with a repeated chugging of a rhythm guitar before vocalist Bunton shares some words of wisdom. ?Baby I?m too young to know any better but I guess I?m just too old to care, I?m waiting on the morning light to clear the air? he sings before the song picks up its momentum.

The rhythm continues throughout and is strongly complimented by Adler?s drumming and some perfectly timed backing vocals followed by a grandiose guitar solo. No joke ? Adler could have a serious hit on their hands with this one.

The single?s length clocks in at around three minutes, just long enough to keep you interested but short enough to keep you hungry for more. This is a strong debut and surprisingly catchy, so given the right exposure, this song could turn even the biggest haters into full-fledged fans.

7 out of 10 Ultimate Classic Rock rating.

Unless it was Steven, I would say, yes, he was lucky again to find guys that can write melodies with a certain pop sensibility.

Just bought it on Itunes and I am loving it with every listen.

Good for Steven.

Showing he isn't some "Get Lucky" drummer.

Kinda sounds a bit like Good Charlotte imo.

Just bought it too.  It's a good song, and I gotta support Adler!

Just listened to the new song, kinda sounded like Kiss to me, very catchy. This could actually lead to something, is Steven can keep himself together.

Jacob Bunton is a GREAT singer.  The new bass player was pretty good too.  Funny, Adler looked like he was doing "Wii" drumming or something lol  Looks like a great band, so far.

The band sounds great in the one song that I've heard and I am now really anticipating the album, and would definitely go see them live.  I'm happy Steven managed to put it all together like this.  Hopefully he'll put everything into this band; constantly worrying about a GNR reunion really sapped his focus.

Who actually wrote the melodies for this song?

Unless it was Steven, I would say, yes, he was lucky again to find guys that can write melodies with a certain pop sensibility.

Even if the others did write the melodies, Steven Adler is the one facilitating the environment.  Who he is and what he contributes adds to the fray as well.

Who he is?  :hihi:

I would say his drumming contributes to the music, yes, not the mere presence of his name  :hihi:

But, seriously, unless he wrote all of the melodies, then, yes, he was luck again to have talented songwriters working with him.

Former Guns N Roses drummer Steven Adler is proud to announce his new band, Adler. The line-up features frontman Jacob Bunton (Lynam, Mars Electric), and Lonny Paul (Adler?s Appetite). ?I love the music that we?re creating!? said Adler.

?I haven?t been this excited about my band since the GNR days. Jacob is exactly the singer I have been searching for. He has an amazing range and is a great writer and frontman. Lonny is an amazing guitarist and songwriter and the vibe is amazing!?

The band is currently in a Los Angeles recording studio working on their debut album with producers Jeff Pilson (Dokken, Foreigner) and Jay Ruston (Anthrax, Steel Panther, The Donnas). The album feature a guest appearances from Adler?s former Guns N Roses band mate Slash. ?I?m so excited for everyone to hear this record!? Adler shared.

Adler Vocalist Jacob Bunton Discusses New Album and Working with Steven Adler

Twenty-five years since the release of the album that made Steven Adler a rock n' roll icon, he's back with his first full length studio album since then, Back From The Dead. The band Adler, consists of Adler himself, vocalist Jacob Bunton (Lynam, Mars Electric), guitarist Lonny Paul (Adler's Appetite), and bassist Johnny Martin (Chelsea Smiles). With their debut, they have managed to deliver an album which will please not only fans of Steven's previous band but also new fans. Steven's former GnR bandmate Slash and Rob Zombie guitarist John 5 make appearances on the album.

I recently spoke to Jacob Bunton about the writing and recording process, and also what it has been like for him to work with Steven Adler.

Front Paige Metal News: What was the writing and recording of Back From The Dead like?

Jacob Bunton: We would send ideas back and forth through email. When I would go out to LA, me and Lonny would get together at his house and write songs and collaborate on ideas. Then, of course, we would take them to Steven, and he'd listen and figure out what songs he wanted to do and what songs he didn't want to do. The main thing that we said when we first started is that we would throw our egos to the side and just do what's best for the song. If a song could be made better, we would listen to each other on how to make the song better, the ideas. As far as the recording process goes, we had a great producer, Jeff Pilson, who was kind of like the fifth member of the band. He definitely brought out the best in us and kind of put all the pieces together for this. We recorded in Santa Clarita, California, and used a lot of old, vintage gear. It was really cool.

FPMN: Going into the writing process, what were your biggest influences both musically and lyrically?

Jacob: Musically, we didn't want too veer to far away from good, heavy, modern rock n' roll with the classic sound infused. We didn't want people to listen to the record and be like, "Oh, this is an 80s throwback", but we didn't want to veer so far away from it that the people that love the 80s music and the Guns N' Roses stuff would be alienated either. We tried to keep it an equal balance. As far as the lyrical themes, a lot of it was based on stories that Steven would tell us about his life that he went through and also experiences that I went through or that Lonny went through or people that we know, our surroundings. Really, we draw inspiration from each other, and what I mean by each other is whatever situation you're in.

FPMN: What was it like to have Slash and John 5 featured on the album?

Jacob: Amazing! Those guys are incredible musicians. For me personally, to be on a record that has Steven and Slash, both key, core members of Guns N' Roses, it was very surreal and very cool. John 5 is one of the greatest guitar players out and he's also one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. More than anything, it was just really cool hanging out and hearing everybody's stories. That's always my favorite thing in the world, just listening to people's stories.

FPMN: That had to be a cool experience for you as a fan.

Jacob: Oh yeah, because at the end of the day, that's what we all are is music fans. Even Steven and Slash, they're in The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and recorded one of the biggest selling rock albums of all time but are such fans of music that they'll sit there all day telling you about Aerosmith or KISS and Queen and the bands that they grew up with. Music is what unites us all. It brings us all together.

FPMN: Will Adler be touring to support this album?

Jacob: Yeah, absolutely. We just finished our first shows ever with KISS on The KISS Kruise, and the shows went great. We definitely have excellent chemistry in the band, and we plan on touring a lot in 2013. We're going to Japan with Duff, and we plan on doing a lot of stuff, going all over the place.

FPMN: Earlier this year, the band, of course, released the music video for "The One That You Hated". What has the fan reaction been?

Jacob: The fan reaction has been great. Anytime that you are associated with any of the guys from Guns N' Roses, there's always comparisons. You can ask the guys in Slash's band. You can ask the guys in Duff's band. People always wanna compare it to Guns N' Roses, ya know Appetite For Destruction. They wanna compare the guitar players to Slash. They wanna compare the singers to Axl. We've been very honest from the very beginning. If you're looking for the next Appetite For Destruction, this is not it. This is Adler. This is where we are in our lives now. This is the first project that Steven's done since Guns N' Roses as far as the first (full length) album he's released since Appetite For Destruction. We tell people that it's absolutely not Appetite For Destruction. It's Adler. We have our own sound, our own vibe, our own thing. The fan reaction has been great. People seem to really get that, and everybody's saying nothing but positive things. The reaction to the video was great as well. That was the first bit of original music that people had heard from Steven in a long time. To him, just to have the fan acceptance and the media acceptance is all he's ever wanted. It's always number one. He's grinning ear to ear. He's so happy.

FPMN: For you personally, what has it been like working with Steven?

Jacob: It's been amazing! He's one of the sweetest guys in the world. He's got a huge heart, and he's just a bundle of energy to be around. Now that he's clean and sober, he actually goes over to Lonny's house every morning around 7AM, and those two work out together. He's healthy, and he's playing better than he ever has. He's always been one of my favorite drummers of all time.  So, to be in a band with him is, I keep using the word amazing, but there's just no other way to put it. It's amazing.

FPMN: What do you hope to accomplish with this band? What are you most looking forward to?

Jacob: I've already accomplished everything I want to accomplish in the band. The only thing I was looking to accomplish was to make a great rock n' roll record, or something that we felt was a great rock n' roll record, that we were proud of. With Steven, he really wanted the fans to like it and accept it, because he had a lot to prove. With me, just being a part of it, I've already accomplished everything I wanted to accomplish- just being apart of a great project and making a great record that I'm proud of. Even if nothing else happens from this point on, I'm happy I've accomplished what I've always wanted, and what I've always set out to do, to make great records.

FPMN: Anything else you'd like to say?

Jacob: Everybody, go check out the record!

ADLER's Steven Adler Talks Back From The Dead - "I Haven't Been This Excited About My Band Since The GUNS N' ROSES Days"

With his new outfit, ADLER, prepared to make its mammouth mark on the hard rock world, former GUNS N' ROSES drummer Steven Adler is sounding pretty damn excited about the group's new release on New Ocean Media, Back From The Dead. In January, the band began recording their debut album with producer Jeff Pilson (T&N, FOREIGNER, ex-DOKKEN). According to the group, "The chemistry between all of us was amazing. We're not relying on computers and auto tune to fix everything. We're totally going by feel and capturing the raw energy of the songs. It's a real rock n roll album, performed by a band, with a real human element."

Adler's debut album also features stellar guest performances by Steven Adler's former Guns N' Roses bandmate Slash as well as ROB ZOMBIE guitarist John 5.

BraveWords correspondent Matthew O'Shaughnessy (WVOX's Metal Mayhem) recently had the distinct headbanging honor of chatting with the ever excited and recharged legendary drummer Steven Adler about Back From The Dead, the recent KISS Kruise, how Adler's approach to music is similar or different than his previous works, and making a new video for the track Good To Be Bad and more. Upward and Onward!
