Title: [IDEA] Database site for GN'R audio bootlegs
Post by: kaasupoltin on November 07, 2011, 03:27:32 PM
Ok so this is the deal.. I've been collecting (and even more importantly, listening to) GN'R bootlegs for years. I have all my stuff pretty much unorganized, so I got this idea about a database with all the infos. There I could easily search for what I'm looking for. Like there is an info.txt-file with every bootleg you download, and in the file is "quality", "setlist", "duration", etc.. usually I end up opening many many many of these files while searching for a show I'd like to hear at that moment. From a database it would be much easier.. I could search by quality, soundboard/audience, location, venue, songs, and so on..

So this would be just for me. Then I thought that maybe someone else would like to use that database too. It would be very easy to turn into a simple website.. no downloads and no ads or anything. Just the info, presented in a clear form! Maybe covers to download if possible. And also I've been thinking about a commenting system for every bootleg.. maybe rating too? There could be a "top10" list then :P And other lists too, like "the most played songs" and stuff like that. I know you can find this stuff on the internet, but in my opinion it's all over the place at the moment. Some info over there and some info over here.

I just wanted to share this idea with you guys, and if some of you are interested, I could use some help in beta testing in the future :hihi:

And also, I don't have every info.txt-file myself as I'm still missing a lot of bootlegs, so if someone has a huge collection of them, please contact me. I don't need the actual bootlegs, just the info-files :) Mostly from 2001-2011.

Yep! And I'm also planning on listing every bootleg, not just every show. Like there are about 20 bootlegs from Japan 22.2.1992 (even though many of them from the same source) :P

So it would be like "the ultimate GN'R audio bootleg guide" or something ;D

Good idea. We had such a database back while gnrsource.com was up and running.
Due to job and family and time issues that site went down - unfortunately.
We had infos for each show like: duration, setlist, opening act, numbers of songs, attendance, venue,
....
But take a look yourself: an archived page of a typical show page

I made something like that. It's not bootleg based and it has only the statistics from the new band. But you should take a look: www.gunsnroses-livestats.com

For an indication image they can be helpfull, for save and print they are no good.....

And, if any info is required on boots that are also available on vinyl, i got some info there too!

I'm working on a website you're talking about kind of. We will have live shows and official releases and bootlegs. You can see how we started at

gnrarchive.netai.net

Right now the downloads/streaming is all fucked up.
