I need to move up north.

or Florida.....two shows down there as well....

This club tour was really a great idea---such a great experience for the fans instead of seeing them in a stadium, music festival or other large center.   Granted we lose the pyro but I will trade fire to be in a tiny club with my most favorite band any day of the week.

Atlanta has The Tabernacle....come on boys, pull the trigger. : ok:

and I am perfectly fine without the pyro, just bring the rock. :-*

I hate Pyro

Yeah, I was just making a point that it is a perfectly fine sacrifice to see the band so close.  Don't worry, though---you still get confetti blown at you every night.  Totally not on topic but after every show I always comment on how much it has to suck to be the person to clean those tiny papers stuck in rotten old beer everywhere. :-\

I'm thinking that if they're still announcing shows for the UCP tour, you might still have a chance to catch them on the west coast... Guess we'll have to wait and see...

EF is cool, never had any problems there, other than the occasional gypsy parking lot attendants outside.  Once a friend paid the money and the man wearing orange vest told him to pull through this little alley and the parking lot was "on the other side"..HA!  No parking lot there.  I REALLY hope that I can go but it's coming up so damn soon!!  This would have been my number 1 choice all along, but Silver Spring came up and I've been cool with that for the past month.  Lucky to anyone who can see more than one show this time around!!

I have not been to EF for a few years, between maybe '98-'02 I saw a bunch of shows there.

Back in '88 there is a good "OTGM" rant from Axl after he had a problem in the parking lot with the Philly police before the show.  In '02 the riot at the FU Center, after that I was still dying to see Axl and the band.  Below is a photo I took during the '02 riot and the rest are here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/mngs717/sets/72157627615882351/with/6349875830/ (http://www.flickr.com/photos/mngs717/sets/72157627615882351/with/6349875830/)

Damn it, wish I knew about this sooner. I would've preferred this over roseland since I live in Philly?
Would've been less of a financial drain.

Oh well, I still have AC coming up.

Wonder if there will be an 02 mention in the show. He should play oh my god since we never got to hear it. Haha.

just got my tix!! i cannot believe they are playing this venue. its probably my favorite venue. i love the set-up and the location. great sound too. but more than anything i have been to tons of shows there over the years - more than any other venue and i've just had so many good times there. and i wasn't sure if they would ever play philly again and now 3 months after they played across the river they are playing a small venue right in the heart of the city.

i'm so psyched!!!

Just got my tickets! Wasn't expecting this show. A guy at work last night said "heard GnR is playing Philly next week". I check this site pretty much every day and i was like "huh?" so i got on and, lo and behold, they are fucking playing Philly! Short notice. Didn't think I'd be seeing the band again until who knows when. I guess this is the first time GnR has played Philly -- actually in Philly -- since maybe '93? Not counting the no-show in '02 (i was there). It's funny someone mentioned the "gypsy parking attendants" at the Electric Factory. I had a similar experience there--dude in an official-looking parking attendant vest took my money and sent me down an alley to another guy in a vest about a block away, who directed me to another guy, and then another guy -- ended up parking in a shady area about 5 or 6 blocks away. I was fucking bitter. And as soon as i parked, a guy in full camo shows up at the driver's side window, flashed a cheesy-looking dollar store badge and introduced himself as a "merchant security officer". He wanted 5 bucks to keep an eye on the vehicle during the show. I was still pissed i got burned for 20 bucks to park in basically an abandoned lot so i didn't give him his "fee". He said he couldn't guarantee nobody would vandalize the car. Great. "Whatever, dude". Halfway through the show, i start thinking maybe it would've been worth the five bucks. I started having visions of flat tires, broken windows... Rushed back to the car right after the show to find everything intact. Phew! Anyway, gotta love the entrepreneur spirit. I wonder if the gypsy attendants and merchant security officers are in the same union as the bootleg t-shirt guys and the dude selling ice cold soft pretzels out of his shopping cart (is that just a Philly thing??) Anyway, can't wait for this show. What a great fucking surprise!!! Thanks, Axl!

I think what gets lost with the photographer is how good she is taking pictures, the stuff that's been on the official site so far is top notch! And personally I find Jarmo way more attractive with a camera in his hands, but that's just me.

Looking forward to the show tonight, gonna be my 19th time and it never gets old, I am just as excited as I was the very first time. Safe travels to and from the show to everyone who is going. I will try to post updates tonight, gonna bring 2 cell phone batteries. Be safe at the show and watch out for one another near the front of the stage especially!

so spyched for this show. i went friday with the wife and tonight i'm going with 3 friends that were at the camden show in november. i hope tonight is as good as friday cause that was really killer.

i still can't believe GnR is playing the electric factory. i've probably been to 30+ shows there and it's always been my favorite venue to see a show. its unreal i'm getting to see my favorite band there.

anyone know what time the doors open? show starts at 10 so i'm assuming the earliest gnr will be on is 11:30.

Yes, and yes.

the balcony stretches along the right hand side (if you are facing the stage), and along the back. there is a bar along the side and if you get there early you can get right up against the rail and have a great view and be potentially very close to the stage. if you are not close to the rail, the view from the bar is not that good.

across the back there is bench style seating and it is raised. it's a real nice straight-away view.

Have fun everyone & be safe!!!  Looking forward to hear updates later!  Wish I could go but it is just not gonna happen, the tickets are a great price but I just can't afford it and pay $80 in gas too, since I would be driving myself.

Hope that the show is sold out so they will come back again next time around!  The pyro is cool but these club shows ROCK!!  I never watched a EF show from the balcony but I was at a Megadeth aftershow party once and it was held at the front of balcony overlooking the stage.  If you can get to the very front of the balcony the bonus is that you will be able to look down and see part of what is going on backstage.

To play it absolutely safe, i'd go in at 10:45-11:00.

show was awesome. just as good as the HOB blues show on friday. he sounded great and was in a good mood. band was killer. i think it was the same set list minus WLR. everyone i was with said the show was definitely better than the november show (which they had said was great as well). the sound was perfect.

in the middle of the show he talked about the philly cancellation and apologized for his role in it. hopefully someone got that on tape cause i don't remember exactly what was said. i'll paraphrase (very liberally) some of his comments:

- he couldn't talk about the cancelled show for 5 years because there were lawsuits and people would have sued his ass.
- Clear Channel wanted to cancel the tour because of their own issues they were having (he said something about their issues in FLA).
- he advised his manager that the the show was cacelled at 6am that day.
- it had nothing to do with watching basketball, which was the rumor.
- it has nothing to do with not liking philadelphia. he's visited the city and really likes philly.
- he said something like "i just want to apologize for the role i played in all of that."

anyone else that was at the show, please clarify. it was really an interesting moment.

Not sure you could go to one of these shows and not be blown away.  My 10th GnR show and it was hands down the best.  To see them in this venue..... I still can't believe it.  Nothing more to say then people haven't already said about the band, Axl's voice etc.  My buddy caught Axl's whistle.  Still hoping he might give it to me :)   if you have the opportunity to see them on this tour, take it!   :peace:

Awesome show last night (yet again!). Partied at the bar right next to the venue for a while before heading in. Got a pretty good spot about 15 feet or so from the stage.  Unbelievable show. It sucks that Ron was hurting. So cool to see Used to Love Her, You're Crazy, and Civil War. That alone made it worth it for me! These guys should really record something soon -- even a live release would be great. It's amazing how great Axl is sounding (how does he do it?!?), and the band is incredible. It's obvious they are all having a great time playing together. I love the musical jams they do between songs. It was cool that Axl addressed the '02 situation. I was wondering if there'd be any mention of that, seeing as this was the first time the band has actually played in Philly since then. I just wish i could see the band again soon. Might have to use my passport!

this is better quality of Axl talking about the Philly cancellation. it also includes the first few seconds which gets cut off in the other clip.

by the way, my three friends that i went with all called me today to say how great the show was. they can't stop thinking about it. my one buddy said "congratulations dude. your boy Axl proved you right....he sounds as good as ever and still puts on the best rock show out there." and this guy goes to a ton of concerts, and although he's a fan of gnr, he's nowhere near a die hard.

Such an amazing show. Axl sounded fantastic! Really good. This was my 6th time seeing GNR and probably the best (I may have liked Roseland Ballroom better because I had a fucking epic spot on the rail at that one).

Axl talked about the Philly incident of 02. At first it seemed like he was playing the blame game and putting it on everyone else's shoulders but then he said he wasn't innocent in all of it and apologised. He also apologised again at the end of the show. It was really awesome of him to do. He really seemed like he was trying to make up for the incident. Just an awesome show. And he mentioned how he loved Philly. Really won anyone in the crowd that may have still been bitter, back over.

I got to see Your Crazy and Used To Love Her for the first time!

One thing I need to talk about is Ron...Jesus christ that man is a legend. I don't know how he does it. He was in bad pain the entire show. I think after Rocket Queen he went behind the stage and just stayed there for several songs. From Richards solo to the middle of SCOM he wasn't on stage (I may be off on that). I saw him behind the stage leaning against the back of the stage. He came back during SCOM right before his solo. Before his Pink Panther theme Axl told the crowd his back was fucking with him that night. He was clearly in a lot of pain all night. During his Pink Panther solo he let out a huge yell that I think everyone in the venue must have heard. For a lot of songs he only came out to do his solo. For example in November Rain he stayed backstage leaning against the stage for the entire song until the end when he had to solo. A lot of the things he usually does like go to front/center for the Maddy jam didn't happen. He couldn't even take his guitars off by himself. His guitar tech had to do it for him (very gently). Ron Thal is god. I can't believe how devoted he is to the fans to continue the show under that kind of pain. Thank you Bumblefoot....

...and thank you GNR!

So Destry and I were hanging during the show, walking around having a drink, bite to eat, etc. - something that I have never been able to do at a GNR show. I'm usually up front against the rail or in a seat with a friend. We got separated towards the end and planned on meeting up by the one bar, so I said "hell, might as well give it a shot" (to get the mic). So during PC I slowly start creeping from left to right on the floor, about 3/4 way back. I get to a spot where Axl threw the whistle and remembered he usually chucks the mic a little deeper. Stepped about 6 feet back, and was perfect. Axl threw the mic, hit a dudes hand about 3 feet to my right and bounced around. I saw everyone scramble and the bright RED LED (ON) switch and GREEN LED SCREEN was laying right there, staring me in the face! So I reached down quick and turned off the mic, put it in my jacket and turned my camera phone LED light on to "help look" on the floor for it. No one seemed to find it nor have a clue that I had it! Walked over to destry, grinned nice and big and he said "whats up??". Showed him the mic and I think his words were something to the tune of "Wow, karma my friend. Even though I want to punch you in the face."

15 (maybe 16? I have to count..) shows this tour and after all the pics and stuff that I received, hanging out with the guys, meeting everyone, partying - this was the utmost perfect moment ever. I now have Axl's mic from the first Philly show in...however long. I can probably get a red cap that is usually on it from the guys, but I'm thinking this adds a little character to it. Once I get it signed, it's going in a frame with all my other 2011/2012 stuff from this tour and I CANNOT fucking wait.

Thank you to everyone - beta, fernando, etc. etc. - for the great tour so far and for making some awesome unforgettable memories for me in the past few months.

A big thank you to destry for driving me to my car (which was NOT locked up in a secure parking lot as promised...) so that no one would mug me with the mic! : ok:

That's so awesome Cotis! Very lucky and the "mother of all souvenirs"! I was lucky enough to catch the whistle at the Chicago show but he chucked the mic way over our heads! I did the same thing as you! caught it and acted like it was on the floor while quickly putting it away in a safe place!
Congrats to a true fan ! Well deserved  : ok:

Nice work, still wish I could have made it out!  Appreciate all the videos+updates+and that everyone made it out of the Philly Jungle alive.  I like that Axl talked about the Philly riot.  Back then no one knew what was going on, even the venue.  They did not announce the show was cancelled until after 11pm the riot had already started.  I was down front right before the riot and behind the curtain the entire stage was set up ready to go.  Even a couple hours before that one guy from CKY mentioned on stage, that Axl was here.  Sometime after 11pm the stage crew was spotted removing some of the gear from the stage, still behind the curtain.  A young man picked up his chair and held it over his head.  After that there was nothing that could be done.  The angry Philly crowd down front started chanting, "ECW, ECW" ECW" and then about 4,000 chairs where thrown.  While the chairs were being thrown and announcement finally came.  "The show has been cancelled.  Please return your tickets to place of purchase.  Please do not take your wrath out on the First Union Center or it's staff" or something like that(the last line is correct for sure).

I guess that maybe Axl would have answered this sooner but at least in '06 he was still not able to talk about it on the radio or anywhere.  I was never angry about what happened, as some others were.  Would have waited all night.

Nice work on the mic, Cotis.  You deserve it!  I met the young girl&family who caught the mic in Wilkes-Barre, wish I could have got a picture of how happy they were!

call me crazy, but i dont like ron, ron is a good guy, he is very nice, ron is not a rockstar. i wouldnt be sad if ron left the band, all of the music was written in 2 part guitar rythm and lead, and honestly ron ruins the show for me, when i look up and see the miracle of gnr happening and then look over and see ron just some regular "nothing special" guitar player with no real rockin qualities it ruins it a bit. Ashba and Fortus are rockstars its easily seen, they have presence ron does not, he's just a nice guy wich we all respect, and ron will email you and stop and talk great guy...but not gnr material.....hey if anybody sees the philly pic of us and axl after the show send me a link, also any tapings of the "full show"? im also looking for the second video source for the camden show, i have the one 3 dvd set by tapehead  but some kid said there was one shot from diff angles and all,....thanks...rapescene21

nothing special? Ron? For God's sake, just for his ability to nail Estranged he needs to be in the band. He is a solid, solid player. You don't need to be tattoo'd up and dangle a cig out of your mouth to be a rockstar. I'll take ability. Tommy is a pretty normal looking dude and has been a "rockstar" since he was 13.  : ok:

I can't believe what I'm reading... Ron is the best guitarist in Guns N' Roses at the moment period. It makes me laugh how you keep mentioning how he's "not a rockster", but you never once try to criticise his skills. Just because Ron doesn't pretend to be a badass rockstar with tattoos all up his arms and a cigarette hanging out his mouth. Does not mean for a second, he doesn't deserve to be in GN'R, in fact it's the opposite...

Ron is the most important guitar player in Guns, because he handles Buckets crazy leads on both the fretless and fretboard. And he also does ALOT of guitar work underneath all of the songs to give them the punch they need.

Ron doesn't need to "act" like a rockstar, because he naturally oozes coolness and he is someone who connects with the audience VERY well. I can't believe you really think what you wrote to be honest...

Richard Fortus is a monster of a guitar player, and he is the best damn rhythm guitarist Guns has ever had. And in regards to DJ, I have come to appreciate him alot more than before, as I genuinely see his guitar playing improving over the time he's in GN'R. But Ron is on a different level, and is easily the strongest guitar player in Guns in 2012...... I don't know how you can deny it really.

Don't judge a book by it's cover.......

People can dress like rockstars who can't even play a note on a guitar, doesn't mean a single thing.

In 2012, in a sense of guitar playing, and handling all of the exceptionally hard riffs and solos that comes with being in GN'R.......I think it's safe to say that there's no denying that Ron is GN'R.

tommy plays like a punk rocker, tommy is a rock star, ron is not, ron came out of nowhere right into guns n roses wich is the best thing ron ever did, i really dont care for how ron plays, anytime he takes a slash solo its ruined, at least with ashba or fortus it sounds like they deserve it, ive met ron, and i think hes a great guy and would do anything for you, definetly decent, ive met axl, who seems like everyone needs to watch there mouth around wich i thought was gay, ron is a nice guy nicer and more down to earth then axl so dont get me wrong, i just feel like hes a guitar salesman trying to sell me a guitar when i see him play, hes noooo better then one, but seriously, i think ron has the key. ron knows this new gnr is coming to an end and he should promote and sell and make his money now!!!!, i think we all know the reunion is coming soon, and just like the induction it doesnt include ron and he knows it, ron is smart, he knows a reunion tour is a billion dollar valuation, gnr just on tix for phillys ef made 24,000 and change....divided up thats gas money for w.axl rose....the reunion will pull a billion dollars full usa stadium tour, full world stadium tour, were talking use your fn illusion money that made them rich to begin with tour, and no one can deny that payday is coming.....oh yea and where the fuck will ron be? teaching guitar online for 2 dollars a min. thats where ron will be.....

IN the words or Axl, "Your Fucking Crazy!!.lol  well the thread is about ron, and ron is not a star, thats a fact! say what you want

Keep dreaming your wet dream, if you haven't noticed by now Axl isn't interested in the balzillions or it would a been done long ago.

Dude you have no idea what you are talking about. Sorry.

Bumblefoot is one of the best musicians out there and there are not a lot of players that can play like him. You really need to do some more research before making a claim like that.

Ron is one of the most skilled musicians on the planet.

If you don't think Ron is a great guitarist I suggest you check out his solo material. Still not convinced ask the musician who recommended him for the GN'R job. That would be Joe Satriano, a guy that probably knows a little more about guitar playing than you n' I combined.

Bumble is an absolute amazing guitarist but is he a some kind of "rockstar" as the one dude above adressed? no!
IMO he is best when he just stands on stage delivering killer guitar work - without any talking or much movement. thats when i do enjoy and like him most at least. though he really seems like an down to earth dude with very nice fan communication, he comes along some weird off-stage, exspecially in video interviews. i guess thats part of the fact that he isnt considered a real rockstar. but that doesnt change he can play about any solo in the world!

back to the topic, i think this Phili show was one of the better ones recently (also vocally). i dig that Axl is talking some more again here!

yessss the philly show was amazing,.....and getting to meet axl was the icing, as for ron chances are youd never know who he was otherwise, and as a matter of opinion i dont like when he solos onstage it bothers me, also the name you were trying to spell sir was joe satriani, on top of things the pink panther theme is like retarted, he sounds kinda like a tard in person, but i give him credit he's a great guy, but he's one of millions of guitar players that could do his job, rons greatest accomplishment in life is that he's friends with joe satriani, wich isnt bad but doesnt cut it for me, oh and to the guy giving ron credit for being able to play buckethead leads you must be a teenager to maybe 20 years old, no one cares about buckhead leads, buckethead is a moron, my comment has to do with ron ruining slash leads, slash....remember him? the guy who wrote all the greatest solos gnr plays. my post wasnt to have "quarell" with anyone, but to stir discussion, this is a legitimate issue i feel takes away from the show a bit, for me at least, anyway is there one full video for the philly show? not youtube style cutup vids, and to the other guys who met axl still waiting on the group photo wich was promised to be up the next day, if you see it please link me to it k, thanks.....rapescene21,,,,thats my actual name but some of you know me as shacklers with fight from the youtube vid from camden

Ron the guitarist who plays ALL of Slash's guitar parts in Estranged NOTE for NOTE.
Ron the guitarist who plays the Welcome To The Jungle second solo NOTE for NOTE.
Ron the guitarist who takes over from DJ, and plays the second half of the Sweet Child O' Mine solo NOTE for NOTE.

ya know i love gnfnr, but do none of you guys get owning the name guns n roses, is about advertising? its why the name is worth money, if axl couldnt call it guns n roses he couldnt play larger venues and make more money, and if it was called something else or the axl rose solo project,  my guess is none of you would even give ron a second look, maybe some would but realistically, this is all about the truth behind advertising, like some jerk said earlier axl doesnt care about bazzillions, the ef axl doesnt! axl's best work is behind him and he knows that, thats why shows are packed with classics wich most of you on rons nuts were way to young to even watch on the headbangers ball or anywhere, i would love another gnr album, new or old band, because thats my opinion, but i promise you Ron isnt gonna be writing the next welcome to the jungle, or sweet child of mine, ron makes his money playing covers of someone else's music, wich is the perfect job for ron, ron is good enough to be in a cover band or a guitar teacher, ive seen them 3 times i am also an impartial musician, and rons playing sort of ruins the show for me, he plays like he's reading notes from a book, that is a fair assessment, now if your mindless and have no baSis for comparison, and just on rons nuts cause hes in gnr and was nice to you then you shouldnt even reply, go listen to your fall out boy mixtape clean your room as mommy told you how it iso, lay down and go to bed with your bi curious thoughts.....but im telling you this is like it or not.

You are a tool bag.  If you were at Philly you would of known Ron was hurt and hurt bad. He could barely move around.  His tech had to lift his guitars on and off him.  So you are judging him base on this perfromance?

How many shows have you been to this past year?

I can say without a doubt Ron was not himself in Philly.  He was in pain.

Ron kicks ass. Great guy and great stage presence.

Well I'm glad you're not in control of things in GnR or on this message board, it sure would suck. Fans of GnR, like Chris and a 3rd guitarist btw, go ask people. What GnR doesn't need is pissy little whiners like yourself who thinks there's a perfect world that exists where the band should conform to their expectations.

one in a million get a life........ i asked 3 times,.....what are you 18 yrs old? 20, 17,....asking a few times to post the pic isnt a bad thing, if he saw it at all he saw it once and was reminded grow up loser, and yea i post my pic, idc, i get pussy, if thats an issue for ur gay ass im at every gnr show in philly camden and ill be at slash may 20th, voice your opinion to my face, insulting someone on a message board grow up!!! cause i highly doubt youd say a thing to my face, ....well...maybe your stupid enough too, but ill seriously fuck you up in person, and you know that, so shut the fuck up and stay on topic, do it with fuckin respect
Anyone else see the irony of someone stating they will "fuck you up in person" and to "shut the fuck up" and telling you to do it with "fuckin respect"?  :hihi:

Ali

I know, and I love how he goes from defending himself asking for a photo to get posted......to stating that "yeah I post my pic, I get pussy". Wow, this guy must have really low self esteem, because no ever insulted his ability to attract the opposite sex.  NICE, now we know "Better" right guys............

But I'm glad everyone had a brilliant time at this show, must have been great to see the band in a small intimate setting.  ;)

Is that you Shacklers/Uzi grabbing Axl's shoulder?  What about the dude in the blue shirt?  Looks like he is lunging to try and grab Axl too and the woman or old man wearing sunglasses has to hold him back.  Can't a photo be good enough without having to touch Axl's hair?

that one old cripple was right up front and wouldnt even move to let anyone maybe get their shit signed too, i pushed around him several times, wich was part of the reason i had my arm out to be ignorant back, like if i got my record signed id move for someone else, i was hoping he'd fall n have a heart attack, its 4 am ur 67 yrs old waiting for axl rose in an alleyway, call me crazy but i hope by that age i can afford to meet him inside somewhere warm....lol....i felt bad about the one kid right next to me getting knocked over and helped him right up also positioned my arm so he would be in the photo and i would not block him,, when i was in my teen years concerts were like all about fun and excitement, sharing, meeting the bands unfortunately you run into some real uptight jerkoffs, like yo if your crippled dont stand where your gonna get fuckin ran down, if your gonna be in the pit you shouldnt be retirement age with a cane, by this age you should know better, not to ramble but fuck man that guy was just a douchebag and idk why he even needs his records signed he's gonna fuckin die in a yr. you cant take signed records with ya buddy....prolly another ebay jerkoff wasting space 23 yr fans could be standing in.....
