Title: 2018 Baseball Season/Off Season Discussion
Post by: pilferk on January 02, 2018, 02:38:04 PM
Here's the new thread for the 2018 season!

Because it's Jan 2nd and pitchers and catchers report in about 5-6 weeks.

The FA market is just glacial this year.  After the flurry of trades around the time of the winter meetings, it's been down right stagnant for the past month!

Just a few weeks til pitchers and catchers!

And yet...so many unsigned free agents. Man! Totally crazy!

I am so glad that my cell provider T-Mobile has started giving all their customers free subscriptions to mlb.tv each season. I can see all the Yankees games right on my tv using my Tivo's mlb.tv app. The only time i hate it is when they play Houston cause it is blacked out cause they consider all of Texas the Astros viewing area even though te game isn't broadcast in DFW.

I've got a freebie lifetime sub to mlb.tv, too.  I love it!

I can watch from work, on my tablet, or from my smarttv.  Even the games that aren't broadcast on YES, if the other teams doing video...it's still there.  Couple spring games have been audio only, but even THATS OK, and better than trying to do streaming audio from my laptop when I'm trying to work. :)

I like what I'm seeing so far.  They seem loose and ready to go.  Its early.  There are kinks to work out (and we have NO idea what the pitching is going to be like), but just the general attitude and stuff is nice to see.  Much less uptight than they were under Girardi, IMHO.

Happy Opening Day, everyone!

I gotta admit...seeing the Vlad Jr home run the other night gave me a big case of the feels....and got me VERY excited for the coming season!

That was really cool....

I have some great memories of going to games in Montreal... one of my favorite cities... we used to go all the time and get like 4 dollar tickets

Shame the Expos are no more.

Let?s go Yanks!

The Doc Halladay number retirement....

Something definitely in my eye, right now. :)

While the bullpen has been.....icky, mostly (surprisingly)....the Yanks have become a fun team to watch again!!  And not just the bash brothers (who've been hot and cold), but Didi (who I was NOT a fan of early in his Yanks career) and some of the youngsters are just flat out entertaining players.

That was a monster day for Didi!

I've managed to see about half a dozen walk off wins this season, so far!  Maybe it's just me, but there seems like there are a lot more of them this year (which means, of course, closer games!). I LOVE IT!

So happy Baseball is back.  Its been fun to watch this year....more so than the past couple years, and it's not just the Yanks.  Lots of good, young talent coming up, exciting games, and a complete guessing game over who is going to win this year!

Uhm so yeah ... getting a little sick of this Boston team...

The Yankees might win 105 games and finish 15 back...

Hey all,

Since we didn't even manage a full page this year :(  I'm going to retire from the role of "restarting" this thread every year and not do a new one in 2019.

If someone else wants to pick it up and run with it next year, have at it!
