Title: Where are they now? Forum members

Just thought i'd start a thread about the whereabouts of forum members that seems to have gone out of view from here that you miss and why, for me its Mystron, that guy had some nuggets that were gold during the pre-cd days, liked his film reviews too.

One.in.a.million

I appreciate everyone who contributes here. I read more than I post myself, but visits every day to check out the "news".

One.in.a.million was active some years ago, and had much interesting to tell.

It was a big bag of nothing really, I was just passing on info from Merck. We got Hammerstein out of it, and Jarmo gets to do his bits and bobs now, so some good came of it.

The forums were fun back then, lots of fun people, most of them are still about. It sounds as though Axl got quite a rough ride with the record company and legal odds and ends back in the day. I am happy it has worked out well for them.

And the gang with SLC,
Kujo and others...

And I keep in touch
With 2 more classic posters
Both go by “Lisa”....

Yet, I still wonder...
Visiting recollections...
Where’s darknemus now???? 🤪🤪

How long has this been going, Jarmo? I remember being at the London Docklands gig in 2002 just after Leeds and spoke to someone who recommend this website to me. Maybe it was you!

Mad as this sounds.....I think it could have actually been me! I have recollections of that. I was on my own, after coming down from Leeds.

I was certainly reading it at that point, but probably not a member, as I was a little skeptic about 'getting involved with forums' when the internet first arrived....oh how I've changed since then! haha!

Did you do Leeds as well?

I’ve been checking this board since 1999.  This board was pretty intense leading up to CD.  I still routinely check the board!

Ha that would be mad if it was you...I was outside a pub with my mate right by the arena when i spoke to the person that could be you!
Yes, I was at Leeds too. That was a mad few days doing both gigs having not seen Axl for 9 years!

Yep, miss some of the excitement and forum members from the early 2000s. I think I first started with getting news at The Lose Rose (?) site around 2000 before finally hanging out here and MyGNR (with a short stop at sp1at for a bit).

You know what I miss from back then? Someone used to make these little comic strip images using MS Paint, I think they called it Lil' GNR or Tiny GNR (?). I found those enjoyable, but I think they only did a handful of them and that was probably around 2002 or something. And like someone mentioned, seeing an update from Mysteron was always exciting back in the day.

lol

I go back to summer of 2000. I know the forums were like reset in like 2002 or something? I don't know. This is my original account though. I still peak around from time to time and enjoy the community here. Been really busy and lazy too I guess lately.

Peace.

I'm still here.  I've been reading this website since 1996 and became a member in 2003.  It's kinda been quite around here so I've been at the other GNR website.

You can't NOT post here as a GNR fan.  At least, that's how I see it.  You have to have a presence here.

Favorite band since 6th grade, 1988.  Was on the old "Dust N' Bones" mailing list in college, run by Jeff Boerio.  That's how old I am.  I was on a mailing list.  That's like being on a rotary phone.  The day of Axl's fax in 1996, I stayed in the college library all day, on the computer.

LOL.....dive in and find the monkey! Read that one again....that is the real beginning of the Chi Dem era. Slash's departure. Axl was talking about a new Gnr album then. It showed up in 2008! Drop dead classic Axl. So, forgive me if I am not going to be lead down the primrose path by album talk by anyone related to Gnr! Axl included. It's all talk. Whatever Slash- Duff- Fernando- the mailman- whoever says is meaningless until either a release date is set, or it just shows up on streaming services like Eminem's album just did.  :hihi:

I read the usenet for a while. There was someone called someone Rosner who posted for years. I remember a Rattus the Rat who was a Slash fan and owned guitars. There's a few other I remember as well. It was an extension on outlook I remember, but it slowly started getting spammed with porn. Shame. When I was in Leeds in the 90s I remember chatting on BBS' and playing muds as well. All seemed quite modern back then

Oh god no.  :D  For many reasons that's a face to face conversation.  I like Merck.  He can come back anytime as far as I'm concerned.  The only question I have for him is who got you stoned before that one presentation?  I betting Robin but if he wants to say he was totally straight, I'll just think he keeps his cool when it's all fucking up around him.

It was a frustrating time, but things move on. The support network around the current management appear to be better, so that is good

Just thought i'd start a thread about the whereabouts of forum members that seems to have gone out of view from here that you miss and why,

I've been here since around 2000-2001 (my 1st registration).  Here are a few names from the past that I recall.  Hell, all the names I mentioned are from 15-20 years ago!  Damn, I am old.   :-\

DAVE-GNFNR-2K -- Massively pro-Axl and anti-Slash during THAT era of the band's history.  His motto was "this site isn't spelling class", and boy did it show in his posts.  Sheesh.  Or should I say "sheche".   :P

GNRisSLASH -- Obviously favored Slash during "that" era of GNR history, though as not fanatically anti-Axl if memory serves.

BOOKER FLOYD -- I remember chatting with him a bit.

SLC PUNK -- Seemed like a good guy, and was a regular.

DIZZY -- Not Dizzy Reed, but a member who called himself Dizzy.  A stubborn, ball-busting old-schooler who was often downright hilarious.

LATIGO HAMMERS -- Posted here claiming to be Axl Rose, and had a LOT of people on this board believing it!  Finally a directive from management came down apprising us all that he was NOT Axl, and for him to immediately cease making the claim!

SUKIE -- Nice lady, moderator.  I think she's still listed as a mod, though hasn't visited the site in years.

I met a few forum members in some shows, I still go to GNR Concerts, try not to miss one, I will be there for the Mexico show and now for the Arlington in Texas =)

Cheers!

I was never a heavy poster, but I've been on here since '06, about the time the CD leaks started making the rounds. I haven't posted much since the NITL tour started, but now that I've got tickets for Indy in August, I'll probably be around a bit more.

I remember a lot of the members from the mid-aughts, some of whom are still around, some who aren't. I used to jump around between here and mygnr, but in the end, this seemed like a much better place to spend time without people screaming at each other for no reason. (Or at least, not as often or as loudly.) :)

I remember when I first joined up, I got several PMs from people who seemed to think I was actually Duff.

i've been a lurker for years. Don't even log in, really. I was on the boards every day when the first batch of leaks hit and when Axl was just showing up to "chat" on various sites. Not nearly as long as most of you but always have enjoyed this site and the users here. Some other sites throughout the years have been pretty dodgy.

I think I joined in the early 2000's?  I didn't even have a computer, it was fun to go to the library, go on the site, check for any latest news. The 2000's were so much fun on here.  I remember joining a GNR fan club in the 90's-there was also a  Slash one and a Gilby Clarke one in the mid 90's. All 3 would send newsletters every so often-Got an autographed picture from both Slash and Gilby in the mail. I think my first site was Ravi-Welcome to The Jungle, about the same time the Axl Fax came out.

But I've found HTGTH and became a fan/reader around 1999.

Cool thread and great to reminisce about the old days. I never posted frequently but I was an avid reader. Thanks to Mysteron's pre-sale link back in the day my first gig seeing GNR worked out being front row at the Hammersmith.
Now I can't believe I'll celebrate 20 years on the board shortly after the Australian tour this year. Something I only would've dreamed about in the 00's!

Yeah I can't quite believe how much time has passed since then. Sincerely thank you for doing that, I'll never forget that day/night/early hours of the morning when the gig ended past curfew!  :hihi:

Absolutely. Really cool part of the community. I also remember that you organised a pre-show party before the gig. Funnily enough I went to the wrong pub (no smartphone in 2006) and missed it, but a friend I made at a different pub helped me get a spot front row and dead centre. A real sliding doors moment. Shame I never got to meet the HTGTH crew though!

Its nice that all these years later we can discuss Slash and Duff again in the same sentence as Guns n Roses without some people losing their shit altogether.

Yep, I've been around here long enough to remember the days of segregation around here...

The organization was basically picking a pub/bar close to the venue and letting everyone know about it....

Hi there everybody

Been here since June 2005 as a member of this board... But i was under a different username since from the start (fotisz used to be my username).

Had the GnR Greek Fan Club via regular mail (attention! not e-mail, but regular post office mail  ) from 1992(!) to almost 2000... What an era!

I remember back in the 90s, the "We ain't Dead Yet" site, the "gnrontour" by JohnM and a lot of geocities sites that had bootlegs for trading. i think that till 1996 i had something like 100+ live concerts of GnR in Cds or Cassettes(!) - oh God i think i m the older here.  :hihi: :hihi:

I was a kid and now i m 47y old, so i grew up with GnR - met them in 1993 at Athens gig, i think i met Jarmo in 2010 in Belgrad.

Cheers everybody and hope the best is yet to come....

I feel like we should retitle this The GnR Oldtimers Club. ;)

I'm still kicking around.  I post less, but still browse and read a lot.

Since I joined:

3 kids (the eldest of which is about to graduate from college), a house, 2 more degrees, lots and lots of new music listened to, and a set of very achy knees.  Turning 48 in June.

Same wife, same company (though not the same job...moved on up!).

But riddle me this:

What happened to [redacted].com and it's owner, [redacted] (who, if memory serves, liked Red Stripe?)?  Or the infamous [redacted] who I hung out with at the Hammerstein shows? Finally, where did [redacted] go with his clairvoyant fax machine??!!

;)

*Note: all redactions done by me! Please don't accuse any mods of redacting!!!

Ha. I agree. When I lurked here in 1996, I was 20. I became a member when I was 27.  I'm now 46. Time flies. I'm still with the same employer as well. Maybe the only difference is that I'm currently a part time graduate student while working full time. I'm totally looking forward to graduating with the MBA degree in the fall. It's just too much work.

I had tickets to the 2002 tour as well, but apparently I was only a lurker back then (apparently I didn't sign up until late 2004?). I was supposed to see them in Tampa, which was a week after the Philadelphia (no) show which quickly put an end to that tour.

I finally got to see them at Hammerstein in NY and wound up going all 4 nights. That was a fun experience, especially with not knowing who the new guitarist in the band was going to be prior to the shows.

OK I'm still here but since nobody knows me and I really don't know anyone IRL I suppose it doesn't count  :hihi:

anyway I was on some usenet alt.gnr group(s) lurking around for infos &  on Jeff Boerio's mailing list, probably in 1997 since it's the year I had Internet at home. I remember I posted some artworks and he showed them to some GNR member who said to him they were great and I was like "wow, Internet is great".  :hihi:

then the same year I found HTGTH, probably via Usenet or this mailing list, and finaly became an active member in 2003.

since then I post random things that no one reads and change my mind a lot more than I'd like to.  :hihi:

I first registred June 03, 2005 - I can't recall if I had a user profile before then, but I guess I've been in an out of different GnR fanforums because of some technical difficulties with the profile login since the late 90's. This and MyGnR forum is my main source for live updates (as well as twitter and instagram), if there are no other way to get them. So I look forward to fill some shows on my danish fansite/group again.

I really appreciate those hard working fans on finding info and pics and videos from all the shows over the years. Sharing is caring, and all that jazz...I mean HARD ROCK!  :hihi:

This site was my daily guilty pleasure back at the day.
I met many cool fellow gunners through HTGTH...
Some of them I know are doing well, some are MIA, some are gone.

Always grateful for having been a member of the HTGTH and GNR community  :peace:

It seems these days she only posts occasionally in the birthday thread.  Otherwise, it's been nearly a year since she's been regularly active.

I've wondered about Sukie, who was once a moderator here but disappeared more than 10 years ago.  ???

But for my main account, which i forgot email :) was around 2004/2005

Last time online: december 2010, and now today! So almost 12 years since last time lgged

Just wanted to say hi to all old members of this forum, can't believe forum is still alive.
But
Not into gnr anymore, i met Axl, talked with him 1 on 1, did not impress me a bit. I myself got amazing family, amazing job, and life, and honestly i don't care about this gnr music and fanboy stuff anymore. But it was big part of my life, so props to Axl and guys for amazing music that give me lots of joy in listening to them, trading and collecting memorabilia, and just for being fan.

Life goes on, you meet your heroes, sometimes they are not as you wanted them to be :), but hey, its only music guys...

Once again, good job Jarmo for keeping this old horse runing.

BTD out

Peace and love to ya' all.

Wow. I remember some of the names in this thread. I wasn’t one of the popular posters here. In fact I think I pissed a lot of people off hahaha. Still love GNR. Still see them whenever they come around. Still hate DJ Ashba!  I actually contributed several news bits that Jarmo posted in the news section back in the mid-2000’s. I used to get my GNR fix from this site nearly every day at one point. At one point I stopped coming here when Jarmo started shooting down any pro-Slash posts. I remember I tried to submit some VR news and Jarmo said ‘this is a GNR site go find Slash news elsewhere’ 🤣. Oh well. It seemed so important at the time. Soooooo much other stuff going on in my world to invest too much emotion in GNR. I sincerely hope everyone here is doing well. I miss those days in the early 2000’s. This site was a big part of that

I have to say that I miss the activity of this site. This and Jeff's website were the first two websites that I went to  for GNR news back in the mid 90s.  I have to say that the other website now is kinda negative and strange sometimes with people's thoughts.

I wish I could see when the actual start date was, that 2002 date was a site redesign/launch. I'd been lurking around since 1997ish after escaping AOL GNR Chat Rooms...
