Morello: Cornell Prefers "Hired Hands"
Tom Morello believes that former Audioslave bandmate Chris Cornell is likely happier as a solo artist. "I think that he's probably much more comfortable with a band of hired hands than a band of equals," says the Rage Against the Machine axeman. "That's fine. He has earned that right." Morello -- currently touring under his Nightwatchman solo alter ego -- also reveals he has not spoken with Cornell in "many months, almost bordering on a year now."

Cornell's or Morello's?

I'll probably disagree either way...

I heard Cornell's CD is nothing special, but I'm gonna have to check that out for myself.
I have a lot of faith in that guy.

Cornell has a great voice, but he has some mediocre songs mixed with some good ones in his career.

Chris Cornell is the most overrated frontman in music history

Great voice true

but lyrically and melodically it does ZERO for me.

I always thought Soundgarden was an impressive collection of musicians, but they always fell short of doing anything that really grabbed me..."Fell on Black Days" is one notable exception.  It always seemed that melody was never really part of the equation, at least to me.  Personally, I'd take the Temple of the Dog album over any of the Soundgarden material...

Even songs like Preaching the End of the World, When I'm Down and Wave Goodbye?

soundgarden, temple of the dog, his first solo LP, the james bond song...cornell is very talented.
i just listened some myspace stuff about the new one, i wasn't too much into it i must listen the whole thing.

audioslave was not my cup of tea, just a couple of decent songs.

To me his voice is nice, its strong and pretty, I just don't like it and I can't relate to his l yrics and I don't like his hooks or melodies. To me they all sound the same.

I like most of his work. Superunknown remains his masterpiece, although I liked every Soundgarden album.
