I'm a llama!

« on: November 09, 2005, 10:35:17 AM »

Hey guys,
I didn't want to start a new thread for this message, but since the CD release date rumor thread doesn't exist anymore, I decided to add this in.

I mentioned about a year ago on here that a local sports/variety radio station in Minneapolis have a Sanctuary rep on every Wednesday morning. They just spend about 20 minutes talking about music, concerts, what's selling well, review new CDs, etc...
I know he has absolutley no involvement with GnR, but since he's with Sanctuary I decided to email the station to see if they could ask him if he's heard any buzz about GnR.

I'm not the type of person who emails the label, management company or band members, but I thought this made sense since he's on every week and he's there to talk about music.
The guys on the morning show are really cool and big fans of hard rock, so they did ask him the question to him on the air today.
I'm paraphrasing, but this is what he basically said:
? Even as a normal rep. for the Sanctuary music label (with no involvement with GnR), he gets asked "When will Chinese Democracy come out" more than any other question.
? He's heard that the album is finished, but noted he's heard the same thing several times in the past.
? He says he has absolutley no idea when it will come out and perhaps the most telling thing is that he says the new release schedule through February is set in stone, and GnR are not on it.
So again, this is nothing new or mind blowing. And even if GnR will release the new CD in 2006, I don't think anyone expected it to be January or Feb. either. And I didn't expect him to break any news, but if there was a buzz about it being "soon", I think he would have at least hinted towards it.

When he says the Release schedule is set in stone through February, I'm sure he means the Sanctuary Records Release Schedule, which isn't the label that will be releasing Chinese Democracy.

Yeah, but GNR would never release an album in Jan/Feb. Thats not quite good selling months.. I guess March/May are much more possible, if it will be released in the first half of 06.

I thought the same thing, but assume he meant both the Sanctuary record label, and the bands that Sanctuary manages. They may have a concrete listing of all titles being released through Feb.

NYTunz, I wasn't trying to put you down in my post. Of course there's nothing wrong with speculating. But my point is this: There is no perfect month to release CD. The closest you can get to a perfect time to release CD is late Nov.-early Dec. Obviously that isn't happening this time. Its absolutely preposterous for you(and others) to say it cant be released in Jan.-Feb. The world doesnt stop in the first two months of the year.  Every year, we ride this same merry go round. When Nov. gets here and it doesn't get released, you guys say Jan and Feb are ruled out, so it means march or april. When april comes with no Cd, you guys say June and July would be the "perfect time" to release CD. When July comes with no CD, you're back to saying Nov. and Dec. When that doesn't happen, you're back to saying March. Its time for a new merry go round. At least start speculating about different months. In 2006, at least speculate about September and October. hihi ok

I get the feeling we won't see this until Axl is in his 50's or something like that.

Agreed.? What happened to all the people that in every rumor thread say that CD needs no promotion what so ever.? If that was the case, wouldn't all those people be starting new threads this week and next week saying "CD is coming out the Tuesday before Thanksgiving!".? Funny how the only time people mention the no promotion theory is when there is a rumor going about to back it.? I haven't heard one person optimitstic about the suprise release in a couple weeks since the GH2 thread dissipated.? I'm pretty sure it will be released like every other album guys.?

I thought Minneapolisnewswoman would have brought us some breaking news from the TC area but apparently not many little birdies have been talking to him lately and still a little bummed that GNR didn't appear at Live 8 like he hoped/thought.

Thanks for the work and info Lesty, what stations was it?? KFAN??

The next hopeful date is sometime between march and august.

I would say a Summer release would be the best time for a blockbuster CD.

January and February are the months in the movie and music business where basically they release shit.

so Id guess May or June but more than likely we will be waiting till this time next year.

Look at the inside trading of the public companies that are involved in the release of CD. That will be the first hint that something big is coming.--Its not 100%

Just a thought!

Yes, it is KFAN. Every Wednesday the Sanctuary rep is on from about 7:20 AM to 7:40 AM, or so. Nice guy, and they talk a lot about rock music. Not usually GnR specifically, but I'm sure when there is news to share, he'll tell us what he knows.
