Richard Fortus, the phenomenon

« on: March 01, 2006, 02:14:18 PM »

Don't you think in all those demos (exept "better"), the tempo is too slow? Same for the new versions of "The blues" in 2002, the song kicked so much ass at Rio with a faster tempo. Same for IRS, it seems the tempo is not punchy enough, same for TWAT and now same for CITR. I really think an overall faster tempo would give the songs another dimension... ok

IRS also needs another rythm aggressive guitar (Richard?). Aggressive like Jungle, raw, ugly and dirty, definitely something furious like the hell. It sounds great, but still too "clean". it would be an amazing song with something more dirty.

Although I am a fan of this dirty aggressive sound, when it works, I think you're going to be dissapointed. I think Axl is going for the opposite. When you get guys like Beltrami doing his thing, you're going for an extremely polished sound.

The Blues sounds much better slowed down.  The lyrics and mood of the song are suited to slower music.

IRS during the heavy parts could definitely be sped up.  It could happen, too.  Look at the WTTJ demos, they're all slower than the album version

what new versions of 'the blues' are you guys referring to?  i've only heard one version, and I don't know which show it's from.

The version they played at the 01/01/01 Vegas show and RIR 3 was more uptempo.  The version from the 2002 shows was slowed down and more of a ballad

Just don't forget, these are demos.  The final version probably sounds nothing like what we've heard.  Especially IRS. I bet it sounds 100 times better on the album.
