« on: March 01, 2006, 06:23:20 PM »

Guys, trust me i love the new tunes, i've been listening to them over and over again, but they just don't fit right with the name Guns N Roses, i think Axl should have put this material out as a solo project?Huh peace

Hopefully there will be some rockers, so Axl can vent a little anger like some of his other material.  peace

Yeah, I think it should just be called 'Axl Rose'. ?It would still sell just as much, if not more.

It may be possible that Axl isn't an angry 23-28 year old any longer.........

I wish people would stop posting this crap.

Yeah, you go and tell people like Stinson, Finck, Dizzy and Chris that this is a solo album. Those people have more than contributed to the album. They will be named as song writers too. As both Axl and Tommy have said in the past it was a "Total collaborative effort" by the BAND.

Axl, Tommy, Robin, Richard, Brain, Dizzy and Chris are Guns n' Roses. Why would they want to call it something else?

This is true but some of that angry material was awesome, to many ballads might not be good for the album?Huh

Its different than the old guns, but Axl's voice is unmistakable. I have no problem wit it being called GNR.

« Reply #12 on: March 01, 2006, 06:56:18 PM »

although SOME of the new songs we have heard do not sound like old GNr{Better,Maddy,CITR} some other sonsg do. I think their is a good balance of trying to expand and sticking aorund the roots...

but whether the song sounds like an old type song or not, theres 1 thing all these songs have in common with the old material. The spirit and intent of this album is the same as the old. Axl is going to do what he wants to do and not compromise anything for that. This band has made music they want to make and arent sticking to any sounds or pre concieved notions. And thats whats great about the old band and what will be great about this album. Each song will be able to stand on its own and it will all sound fresh and not dated

I think TWAT, The Blues and Catcher In The Rye are all very Gn'R sounding.

Better, Chinese Democracy, I.R.S. all have that Gn'R feel, but they're very modern at the same time. ?A new twist on the sound.

Oh My God, Silkworms, and Rhayid all really don't have much of a Gn'R feel to them... they're taken to the extreme.

It's a nice mix, something for everyone Cool

Oh my God, the name discussion.

This is something we've never experienced here during all these years of having a board....

You should definitely get the award for "Most non-original thread that the poster himself thought was really original".
