I want you all to compare so you get my point

axl in like 92

to axl in 02
http://youtube.com/watch?v=3OF_6GOxJmg&search=Guns%20n%20roses

Now in 92 I still believe axl. He sings likes he is a man enraged. He goes back to the place in his mind when in wrote jungle. (keep in mind he is now  a millionaire and doesn't live on the streets... but can convey it)

Now go to 2002. WHile he goes through the axl motions.... I just don't feel like he wants to be there. He is performing... he isn't being.

So you are comparing a music video that is produced, shot over and over again, to a live performance?

Not a very good analogy if you ask me.

Not to mention I think his 2002 shows were some of his best to date. (That is all relative however)

Axl did an incredible performance of Live and Let Die on the 02 tour. Everything else was very very good too. The SBs don't do his live voice justice. The mis isn't right.

Axls range and control vocal-wise are far superior than in the UYI days.  I was discussing this to a friend not long ago.  When RIR III came around in 01, Axl had one warm up show and then did a 2 1/2 hour perfromance at the muggy-weather RIR III.  The man was on pitch for a majority of the time, and runing around and everything else.  I thought that was the most impressive part of the performance considering his last show before the Vegas gig was in july of 94.  7 Years off and he comes back strong after that long show in Rio.  All this time off has gotten him beter vocal-wise.   I'm sure he has had some training professionally during his time off.

Thanks for posting that footage from 2002. It makes me that much more excited to see GN'R as soon as they play the states. I also enjoy watching the MSG 2002 show.  beer

My opinion ... Cocaine - Axl isn't all sped up and pissed off. Axl has got to be coked out in a lot of the earlier shows. He just rants and rants and rants. I'm sure the drugs, combined with his ego, and  bi-polar made quite a volatile cocktail. Now Axl doesn't have the same confidence and he did when people were telling him they were the biggest band in the world, is apparently drug free, and appears to have his manic outbursts under control. And the people who are going to say "Axl didn't do drugs" are just crazy.
