*A VELVET REVOLVER vocalist audition tape, featuring former NEUROTICA/ATHEIST frontman Kelly Shaefer, has been posted online at Shaefer's official web site, KellyShafer.com. The songs available for download are Eye for an Eye" (mp3, 3.1 MB) and "Room 169" (mp3, 1.7 MB). The tape in question was "a live demo recording [that] Slash and the gang had recorded in L.A. and sent to Kelly to write lyrics and sing on," reads a posting on Shaefer's web site. "After hearing [the four songs] he did, he was asked to come to L.A. [in late 2002] and jam with the band. Many news outlets had reported Kelly as the new singer, the jam went great, and Kelly was almost in. Scott Weiland announced he was leaving STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, and so he was inevitably chosen to be the guy! So this is a rare glimpse of what VELVET REVOLVER ALMOST sounded like.*

I'm glad he didn't get in because Scott rules... but he sounds alright....

The demos are a little weak with melodies, they are obvious demos.

These tracks are not good, just my opinion.

Scott's demos are much better.
