I don't understand why they play solo's. Drums, guitars, piano, ...
All of them. They should play a lot more real songs and stop the damn solo's. No solo's. Not one of them!
Cause music fans buy tickets. You can have just as much emotion and creativity in a song in a good solo.

In general I prefer drum breaks to solos. But Moby Dick, Rat Salad and Neil Peart's solos are good to listen to now and then. Probably because they spent a lot of time working on the solo. Matt Sorum's solos were boring. I haven't heard Brains yet, but he is an outstanding drummer - the fills in Catcher in the Rye at the end are awesome

Mickey Dee's drum solo in sweden when I saw them was 100% better in my opinion, that was one of the highlights of the show.. I guess the mix made Brain solo sound bader in my ears, but it wasn't anything special in my opinion.

Well, at least some of you could hear it to judge it. I certainly couldn't. AOL managed the impressive feat of bringing us a drum solo with 9/10 of the beats inaudible.

Brain's solo came at a perfect time for me, because I desperately needed to pee and didn't find the right moment to go until then

Technically Matt's drum solo was more impressive back in the day, but like other people have said, you could put the greatest drummer in the world there and I'd still be bored with a drum solo.

Brain always impresses me. and he played the perfect drumsolo, only like a minute or two long!
no solos should go any further than that IMO. too bad the sound was still crap when he did the solo and you could barely hear the toms and the cymbals.
and to the one that said Matt's solo was better technically.....
constantly banging on the doublepedal is only impressive in one way, and that's the stamina the guy showed cos he was able to hold the exact same doublepedal banging going on for 15 minutes....incredibly boring. doesn't impress me one bit, though I don't mind Matt at all really, good drummer but he's done a better job in VR than what he did with GNR.

Being a drummer I like drum solos. In 2001 when Brain done his small solo at HOB I thought was shit but the solo yesterday was pretty good. Matt was the most inpresive drummer I saw when it comes to solos but yeah Brains was good and not to long either.

I found his solo quite boring. I have heard alot of hype of how great a drummer brain is but I just fail to see it. On the older stuff with josh freese i actually like it. but then again i think drum solos are more fun to watch then really hear.

I wasn't impressed at all...I always knew that Brain is a GREAT drummer...but drums solos are BORING!!!!
People here said that they never know when to stops, but I kinda understands that, see, no one cares about the drummer!! He's always left behind, so when he can do a solo is HIS moment, is the ONLY moment of the show were people actually listen to him, and people can't go away because they know that after the solo there's gonna be more actually songs, so the audience is kinda "forced" to see that, because if a drum solo were the last song, the place would be empty in 2 minutes!
PS.: I hate drum solos, but the Neil Pert's is AMAZING!!!

I personally was very impressed by Brain's drum solo. It was awesome!!*
* I play drums...*
*I never liked Matt Sorum or his boring ass drum solo's in the first place (let alone his drumming on "You Could Be Mine") *
*look at his (Matt's) picture in the UUI1&II booklet*
*I might be drunk but at least I'm being honest............as far as I'm concerned........
