wasnt there some story that izzy and VR wrote songs and sent them to axl? songs that VR didnt use with weiland?? I wonder what ever happened to that material.? Im sure that has nothing to do with CD or GnR though.?

Nope, in late 2002 Izzy and "The Project" recorded 10 songs in a proffesional recording studio down the block from their rehearsel space. That happened at the same time when Kelly Shaeffer had his VR audition. Slash has said Izzy sang the songs and it was up to him to put it out. He also said that too him it was the best instrumental GN'R record ever..

I did hear that VR sent some of their own songs/demos to Axl, but it ain't the Izzy recordings that's for sure.

Also about the first post in this topic, I don't think Axl and Izzy have recorded songs recently, or that there is a can full of songs/demos (exception of the '95 demos) with Izzy material. Maybe they'll write and record in the future but it's highly unlikely so far. Also don't count on Izzy/VR/Slash/Duff recorded material that will be used for Axl to put vocals over or something. That stuff is already done and Izzy isn't a fan of re-recording old material. It's more likely that they'll write/record new songs then using old material. That's why he didn't play GN'R material in the Ju Ju Hounds despite fans asking cause he said it's much more exciting writing/recording/playing new stuff then the "ancient" GN'R songs.

Well I think Izzy, at that time was trying to establish himself as an independent artist at that point, and wanted to do anything possible, that was "different" than the way things were with GNR.? The original band re-worked many of their songs from 85-87 during the 89-91 Illusion sessions, and then included them on the album.? Most notably, Back off Bitch, Yesterdays, and Don't Cry.? ?I would imagine, they would use some of the material from 95, as well as The Project stuff as a starting point when they resurface.? It is a given, that everyone will write new songs in the next few years.

When the Philly incident happened, cancelling the tour in 2002, I had someone who is familiar with the Indiana GNR/Blind Melon guy's, and he claimed that Axl was speaking with Izzy fairly regularly at that point. ?I think Axl was really confused, and hurt at the sudden end of the 2002 tour. ?Knowing Izzy, there is no doubt that he has sent Axl material over the past ten years. ?We only get tidbits of info, but I am positive all of the old members have spoken to each other far more than they let on in public. ?

I think Axl called Izzy in 2001 like he said, asked if he'd do RIR2 with them, Izzy refused, Axl got pissed off or stopped talking and that's why the anti-Izzy rant(s) in 2002. Axl called Seb early this year after years (Seb said this) and probably he called Izzy again aswell.

That was also the case yeah, besides "the ancient GN'R songs" he said the JJH had 20 original songs to pick from so they would play that. But also in 2000 in Japan Izzy (with Duff on bass) didn't play any GN'R songs.

Are there any boots of the 2000 tour with Duff?  I listened to a Boot from 93, with the Ju-Ju Hounds  --Live in the USA the other day, and it is amazing.  Very good quality.  There is a very good version of Rocker, and Amazing Grace/Highway 49 on the disc.

One thing that is encouraging to me, that I noticed during the live shows this year, was that Izzy and Tommy seem to be friends and have very good chemistry on stage.   Really cool!!!  Out of all the new guy's, I think Tommy seems to have the most notieriety/rock star mentality like the earlier version of GNR.  Most likely due to his tumultuous/decadent years with the Mats.

Izzy doesn't want to go on a two year tour...shoot videos, be in the studio for months and months...that's the deal...

Axl doesn't need Slash, and Slash doesn't need Axl.

Slash is happy to play VR-type rock...that's not enough for Axl.

Can't people except that they grew apart?...they had different goals in mind. They shouldn't have to hate each other, and they shouldn't have to live there lives through what the "fans" supposedly want.

Yeah, there are two bootlegs from the Osaka and Tokyo show. In total there where 4 shows on that mini-tour. They played some 117, Ride On and Ju Ju Hounds songs and some covers like Attitude an Chinese Rocks. Sounds pretty cool Cool

Izzy is the key to getting the band back together. if anyone can do it only izzy can!

Actually, that was in 2004 when Izzy invited Steven and JT (Like A Dog engineer) to his house in LA for some jamming and hanging out. Only one song was recorded in Izzy's basement on a digital 8-track and that was the Do You Love Me cover that also floats around on the net. It was around the same time that Izzy was suppose to gonna do the NYD shows, DYLM was also covered by Johnny Thunders.

But yeah if GN'R would ever reunite Izzy would be the key. But I don't think that will happen soon though.

^No problem Smiley

Here's a piece of a Q&A that JT did with the Izzy forum a few months ago:

Q: In 2004 there was mentioned that you and Steven Adler had recorded some songs at Izzy?s home on a digital 8-track. An mp3 of ?Do You Love Me? surfaced on the internet shortly after. Where there any original songs recorded aswell at those sessions? Could you tell us some more about that session?
that was done in izzy's basement! i had flown to california to do some tracking with izzy. when i got there he said that steven was flying in to hang out for a bit and maybe jam a little. 'do you love me' was the only song we did but it was so much fun! we only had like 3 or 4 microphones and we recorded it on a little digital 8 track thing that izzy had. we mixed it on a small pro tools rig i had brought with me and it turned out sounding not-too-bad considering we did it all in one day and with VERY limited gear. as far as any original music, izzy played guitar on 3 kittyviolet tunes. but steven was not involved with that. it was just a good time, you know?

Here's the song: http://www.yousendit.com/transfer.php?action=download&ufid=C3F44D1C46BDECB1

I kind of feel sorry for you, dude. I know you really want it to happen, but I seriously doubt it ever will. You're like those poor Zach Dela Roacha fans who are creaming their pants to try and split up Audioslave to get Rage Against The Machine back together.

There are actually some frightening parallel's between Zach and Axl.
