? Yo folks,
I have 2 short stories to relate:

I have a friend named Frank who fuckin' hates GN'R. Not so much the band but,he just doesn't like Axl's voice/the way he sings. He's never really liked it except for a couple of songs like "Don't Cry" and stuff like that. He's never bought a GN'R album, you get the picture.

I recently sent him a link to "Better" and he hadn't listened to it until I pressed him on it.
Guys he listened to it 5 times in half a day!!!!!? He was expecting for it to sound like old Guns and not be "modern". "It was...different. Not what I thought I was gonna hear."
He was really digging the opening and thought Axl's voice sounded really cool in the intro,"It doesn't even sound like him!" and added, "I never would've thought that it was GN'R it you hadn't told me beforehand."
He was thought it was gonna be a rehash like old bands tend to do. "New albums by Motley Crue, etc. still sound like they were recorded in the '80's."

He was very impressed to say the least. Guys,if I could make Frank a Guns fan,I think ANYONE can be a GN'R fan!!! He's not in just yet,but he's on his way.

Which leads me to the second short story.................

Frank and my brother Mark have bet me a gentleman's wager of $5 that CD won't sell 800,000 in it's first week. I believe it will.
Now,I'm not counting on it,that's why we kept it friendly at 5 bucks. I do have a feeling that with enough cross-promotion,a great single, all that jazz...this album will friggin' EXPLODE.
They think I'm crazy,so will others.

Point is,after Frank has listened to "Better"(which SHOULD be the 1st single!!) he thinks I "just might be right. If that is cleaned up a bit and they put it out as the first single,I think they could sell that much."
Again, this coming from a Non-GN'R fan. For someone like that to say this is impressive. He's considered buying CD now also,to hear what else they will have on it.
 Folks,AGAIN(!!),this is a NON-FAN(!!),who heard a DEMO(!!)...just a few times!!

Imagine when "Better" hits radio and T.V. and mag covers/stories and interviews......this album will destroy all the naysayers!!

Okay, that's it. Just wanted to let ya know......... beer

? ? ? ? ? ? ? GN'R FOREVER!!

? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? ? MATT

i sent better to a friend of mine. he loves the song and plans on buying CD as well. he was absolutely no gnr fan, but after he saw them at rock am ring he was pretty much blown away ok

he said he liked "the guy in the red shirt" by the way (richard...) and sang along to better hihi

Psychologically, you could consider this a reunion tour because I`ve managed to find enough pieces of my mind in order to be with you here tonight - - Axl Rose, Chicago 2002

Glad to hear people are digging the new stuff.

I commend your optimism, but albums rarely sell that much(800,000+) in the first week these days, regardless of "buzz". Still, there's no harm in having faith in your convictions. Let that freak flag fly!

sad thing is, i wish my friend never told me about Axl creating this CD several years ago, I wouldn't be as worried and anxious for it.  The leaks just made that even worse. rofl

The non-fans and lukewarm fans at my work that I have showed Better were surprisingly impressed.? ?ok

But I have a good friend who used to be a hardcore GnR fan hate it because he can't get past the changes in the band.? Maybe I should have let him listen to Madacascar or the Blues.? I haven't let him listen to anything after IRS and Better 2:06.? ?Embarrassed

800,000 in the first week is pretty optimistic. I bet a friend that it'll sell over 400,000 in the first week.
