He got a lot of press from wearing that pin, more than for the performance...

Slash Is With Coco ... Even While on Leno

Slash was on the Tonight Show last night promoting his new solo album, and so it seemed strange that during his performance of "By the Sword," there were hardly any close-ups of the top-hatted guitarist (there were more of the singer, Andrew Stockdale, and his weirdly morphed hair-beard). But then we noticed something on Slash's guitar strap, and squinting, we could just make out a pin ... no, it couldn't be ... not on Leno's show!

Yes, folks, Slash had an "I'm with Coco" pin affixed to his guitar strap while performing on Jay Leno's stage, which elevates Slash's awesomeness to higher than it was, which was already really, really high. Watching the performance, you can see the cameras do anything they can not to get a close-up of the traitorous pin, which must have been a huge embarrassment to Leno, who seems to be grimacing as he introduces the song. Considering that many of the shots selected are so sloppy (catching other cameras in the shot), it seems likely that the show was edited to expunge all glimpses of Conan's martyred head. (Though around 40:11 in the video below you can get a glimpse of it.) We called the Tonight Show, however, and a spokesperson responded, "We did not edit anything out of the performance," and Slash's reps didn't respond to calls for comment. You be the judge.

Maybe Slash will get to make an appearance on Conan's NEW show.  TBS will be the new home for Conan come November.  Just in time for Slash touring the US?

Back from Cali is so underrated, awesome tune.

I seen some people bitching about the setlist at the Roxy but I cant blame Slash for playing old songs.  He must be so happy to have a singer that can sing anything well.  Myles rocks.

why would people bitch about the setlist?

I question anyone who doesn't want to see Slash perform some of his old GNR shit. see Bodhi's signature.

I'd bitch because a) I don't think anyone else should sing those songs, and b) what's the point of releasing new music if 90% of your set is going to be made up of songs from bands you haven't been in for years? It annoyed me when I saw Chris Cornell in Hyde Park play a set entirely made up of Soundgarden/Audioslave material, and if Slash does what he did at the Roxy when I see him at Download, I'd be pissed off then. Playing one or two songs from previous bands is fair enough, but when it makes up the majority of the set, it's just annoying. After all, he's supposed to be promoting his new music... I'd expect to hear more from it.

I would get ready to be pissed off then, because even in a shortened set he will for surely close with Paradise City, play SCOM, and probably Nightrain. The world wants to see him play those songs, and people go wild whenever he does. New album or not people would be pissed if he didn't play GNR stuff. Hell, it was at the request of fans he brought Civil War back from the dead because he understands how much people still love GNR, so he is throwing fans a bone.

But Myles is more than capable so its the first time Slash can play this shit in years.
And of course, i hate to bring it up, but other people also play them songs.

And also, its just the first show but i am expecting a similar setlist. maybe some more new songs.

That's a matter of opinion. I think he's fine in the lower registers, but whenever he goes for those high notes that he insists on going for, he annoys the fuck out of me. And considering GN'R songs require more high notes than most other tracks, him singing those songs is excruciating.

I guess slash feels the majority of his fans would want to hear him play some of his better know work from previuos bands; though I could do with out some of the Snakepit stuff

And I agree with him. Was just saying that it shouldn't make up the majority of the set.

I think the set list will be similar to this most nights.  I think Slash is happy he finally has someone with the ability to sing these songs.  (i know you disagree).

Id like:

3 VR,  4 or 5 GNR, 6 new songs, 1 snakepit, 1 cover, 1 myles song.  and the Godfather theme as solo.

This list should include Slither, Do it for the Kids, Dirty Little Thing, nightrain, PC, SCOM, Civil War, OTGM, Mean Bone, By the Sword, Nothing to Say, Back from Cali, Starlight, Doctor Alibi, one more solo song, maybe throw in a cover or a Myles song.

Dude, it's one show. They did a AB song and Wolfmtoher song; figure Woman will be dropped and another added; plus, they had only been playing 13 days together, how many songs could they have rehearsed and worked out?

I hope Slash comes out and plays the "Use Your Illusion" records in their entirety.  30 songs, almost 3 hours.  Although "My World" would be interesting.  hihi
No im just kidding obviously but in all seriousness I hope Slash plays some stuff off of the "Illusions".  The "Illusions" are GNR's best album/albums IMO, and those songs have been ignored for almost 15 years.  Give me some Civil War, Double Talkin Jive, Locomotive, Yesterdays, Pretty Tied up etc.....

That would be my wish too.  I know it's not up to me, but I could care less about hearing Slash playing any of the songs that Axl has been playing (ie, AFD tracks).  Breaking out some UYI tracks would be perfect.

Of course, if I was there in person I'm sure it'd be awesome regardless.  But that would be my preference.

Slash Sneaks Conan O'Brien Onto Leno Show
Posted Apr 7th 2010 2:55PM

Slash pulled off the ultimate act of defiance on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno" last night -- dude rocked a Team Coco pin on the air during his performance at the end of the show!

TMZ: Slash's Wife -- Coco Pin Was My Doing

Guitar God Slash had the balls to go team Coco while performing on Jay Leno's show -- but according to his wife Perla, she's was the mastermind behind the entire prank.
