Axl Rains Supreme

June 16th, 2011

GUNS N' Roses has blown away its competition and been crowned people's champion of the power ballad.

Geelong Advertiser readers voted the veteran rockers number one with their track November Rain.

They were followed by Never Tear Us Apart by INXS and Meatloaf's I'll Do Anything For Love.

The Addy's original top 50 list from last week did not satisfy everyone and according to readers several other power ballads should have made the cut.

Those included Metallica's Nothing Else Matters, Lonestar's Amazing, Steel Panther's Community Property and Skid Rows' I Remember You.

While exactly what defines a power ballad is a matter of conjecture, the Geelong Advertiser assessed their eligibility by their ability to induce a downward fist pump.

READERS' TOP 10

1. November Rain - Guns N' Roses
2. Never Tear Us Apart - INXS
3. I'll Do Anything For Love - Meatloaf
4. I Want To Know What Love Is - Foreigner
5. Total Eclipse of the Heart - Bonnie Tyler
6. Unchained Melody - Righteous Brothers
7. I Don't Wanna Miss A Thing - Aerosmith
8. One - U2
9. I Will Always Love You - Whitney Houston
10. Every Rose Has Its Thorn - Poison

November Rain is not only a greater song than all the others there: it's in a different league. NR should be compared to songs like Stairway, Nothing Else Matters, Home, etc.

To me eyes, November Rain is one of the greatest music pieces of all times. A truly masterpiece, something about Axl Rose should be extremely proud. The song is flawless, perfect, incredibly epic.

Congrads Axl. Songs like this one are what make an artist legendary. And too have started and finished this song at such an early age is amazing also.

Weird seeing Guns N' Roses on the same list as some of those artists!
November Rain far and away the best song.

Not a fan of any of the other songs, but gotta give it up to Whitney, she had some pipes.
I had almost erased "Don't Want to Miss a Thing" from my memory.
A little piece of Aerosmith died when they released that tragedy.
