There already exists a country tribute to GNR. You can buy it on Amazon. It is called Take me home: The Bluegrass Tribute to Guns n Roses.

I bought it and listened. I do not like it at all. Aside from the fact that the upbeat bluegrass does not fit the lyrics, the main problem is that all the songs sound the same and you can hardly tell what the song is without the words.

The CD was expensive and had a very high rating, but IMHO it is a waste of money and I would rate it very low (if I took the time to review it on Amazon, which I have not).

Thats not a real tribute album though, that sounds like one of those Vitamin C strings tribute albums where one person or one group covers a bunch of songs.  Im talking about what Motley did, where they had real legitimate artists each take on a song.

EDIT: I just listened to some of that bluegrass album, I was right it was done by one no name group, and I definitely would not call that a country album.

Well, I am not going to argue with you because I don't really care one way or the other, but for the record (no pun intended):

1. the title of the album includes the word "tribute" so one might be inclined to believe that it is a tribute album
2. all songs are performed by one band called Iron Horse
3. I have never heard anyone deny that bluegrass is a form of country music. But believe what you want. Grin

I said a real tribute, what I should have said was a proper tribute.  There are an abundance of those type of "tribute" albums like the blue grass one, they are done by a set of studio musicians with little or no thought put into them.    You said yourself that only one group did all the songs.  The Motley one was carefully crafted and put together by popular and established country acts.

Also you're right I did say that I wouldn't call that bluegrass album a country album, I was talking about big mainstream popular country music.  I should have been more clear.   I don't see much bluegrass lighting up the charts these days.
