I was listening to Boulevard of Broken dreams in the car yesterday-a great song, I think-it really reminds me of Madagascar-take out Dizzy's keyboard part, it has a similar drum beat, and the guitar effects near the end remind me of Madagascar also-both are beautiful songs, even similar in theme in some ways-I think it's one of Green Day's best-wish I could hear studio version of Maddy-come on, Axl, you're killing me. Just my opinion, anyway.

What strikes me most about this song is how obviously it rips off Oasis' Wonderwall.

It shows Green Day can go beyond the typical 3 minute  3 chord punk song. Its cool to see when bands are talented enough to progress as artists instead of making the same album over & over.  I have a feeling VR~s next album will be Contraband 2.

As far as Madagascar is concerned, it is much more adventurous as "Boulevard."  Axl reached a little farther to create a truly unique song. I hope he doesn`t ruin it in the studio considering how much time it is taking. If it is overproduced , it could turn into crap. However, I am optomistic it will be awesome.

Have you listened to greendays new album? They have a ten minute song on there and its very good.

Before all my posts about subjective matters there should be an IMO before the post. I took this sig down but of course it has to go back up.

Boulvard Of Broken Dreams is right now easily one of my favs over madagascar. Maybe it's because madagascar is so old and played now or that we havent had a studio version ... but I like Boulevard much much more.

Green days new album is stellar!

My friend said the same exact thing and then i noticed it too. We sang the words to Wonderwall while BOBD was playing. It was interesting.

Saul, im in no way trying to bash Green Day. They are one of my favorite bands.
The verses in both songs have the same chords ( i think or variations of the same chord). Each song has something special which makes us like it. I was just saying that we were singing the words to Wonderwall to BOBD and it was just funny. Smiley

Thats no problem. I heard a remix of both songs mixed together and it sounded pretty funny.

Songs having the same chords and/or strumming patterns is not too unusual , hell GNR have ripped themselves off a couple times too.

BOBD is very good, but Madagascar gave me goosebumps the first time and every time I've heard it.
