If you watch the Rio3 show Axl runs out off the stage and into that aisle during the end of patience and say " I need You" .....well Axl....now us, the hardcore fans need you...and what better way to show that than plastering a page of that in a newspaper....

Your intentions are good, but its not gonna work. If constant posting in forums by his hardcore fans doesn't make a difference, neither is an ad in a newspaper.

I have to agree with James here. I applaud the intentions but Axl knows we are here and we celebrate him in a sense everyday.

It's not about trying to 'make a difference'....   and I agree that many fans 'celebrate him' daily on the net...

like I said:

it shouldn't be about gettng him to come back or trying to will him to resurface.  I believe Axl and the guys already know they are wanted.

I feel the only reason to do something like this (again) would be for the fans...  to have an opportunity to express ourselves and to believe that it be recieved by the object and inspiration of our expression. 

I'm not for a "please come back GN'R'.... 
I am for a having a "Congratulations GN'R' ready to go when the time comes.

long story short... i got the idea to get a bunch of fans together to "Welcome Back Axl" and also welcome the new band.  So many months and thousands of emails and internet posts later, a bunch of us (from over a dozen different countries) suceeded in doing just that.  and took a page in the LA Weekly to do just that.  It was published the day before the 1st gig at the hard rock.  it was given in person to a member of the gnr camp at the hard rock who later told us "this is great".  another fan who participated met one of the band members who expressed the band appreciation for the gesture.  i gave it to yet another member of the gnr camp at the joint on the 29th who the next day confirmed to me that he had personally given it to Axl and then at the NYE show further enthusiastically related Axl's reaction to me.  during the show another fan who had participated quoted his message to axl on a towel and held it up in the crowd in the front row.  Axl saw it and recognized the message from the paper.  he said to the crowd "you guys read the news in the paper?"  then after being encouraged and aided by the fans near me I passed the paper up to axl on stage who looked it over as he slowly walked to the back of the stage and then, pausing to sip some water before speaking, axl acknowledged "the persons responsible" and said thank you. 

so... it is doable...

The Vegas shows , like all GNR shows , are taped.

I was tallking about the vegas show that was not taped.

all 3 vegas shows were taped.

Now, I know that there were cameras there, but do you know of audio or video boots?

Im not sure a black and white ad in the newspaper is gonna have the right effect.

Might be better to have a webpage solely dedicated to Axl, and have fans signing it like a petition.
A newspaper isnt as permanant.

I don't think anyone booted those double vegas shows. As for the video, probably locked away in the vaults.

And for some of the people here that couldn't be in Vegas. Yes, Axl was very happy to see the ad and he was choked up!!! The guy does have feelings!! Also heard that the other band members were very greatful!!!
