I've read a legend that said "fuck Izzy here's Gilby Clark". It makes me think is fair enought to compare Gilby with Izzy cause I think gilby couldn't achieve all his potential with GNR.

That was the ever loyal Axl Rose speaking kindly about a friend of more than a decade....

Just enjoy both of their talents and leave comparisons to the desperatly insecure, after all a decision rests on personal preference anyway

Ok but I think the one with that legend must agree with Axl or else why he put it, anyway I know it's all base on preference but in the end Gilby made a GNR song, ever wrote something or compose something for GNR?

Gilby I think was perhaps more proficient an all round player - old school, rock n roll

However, Izzy has an abundance more feel, talent and presence. In short Izzy has it all over Gilby although Gilby was really just a non-threatening presence undistinguishable from Slashs guitar sound, which I kind of suspect is the reason Slash wanted him.

Guns officially died the day Izzy left

GN'R definitely were never the same again without Izzy, but Gilby is a great talent.  He's an awesome song-writer.  Also people don't realize how good a guitarist is.  I saw him live this past summer and he's an excellent player.  It would've been interesting to see what he could've contributed to the band.  I think they could've put out a helluva album with him in the band.

Thats exactly what Im saying, if Gilby had stay long enough to prove that he was the right replacement for Izzy maybe demonstrating his abilities with a new record, I think that's not gonna happen  Undecided

Gilby is an great guy and a great guitar player.
It is unfair to say GNR died when Izzy left when Gilby never got a chance to make an GNR record (other than TSI).
On the other hand,  Snakepit I and II don't fall behind the Gunners material (to say the least),  and Gilby is on one of them.
Gilby probably had greater rock image.
Izzy's image didn't suggest what kind a genra he was in.   He could've been in any kind of music.
Also,    Gilby had more of a blues touch.
