Do you think there is a chance that we could hear Don't Cry Live in NYC?

I wonder if Axl has the band ready to play it if Izzy decides to show up on 1 of the 4 nights.  I think it would be pretty cool.  Speaking of Izzy, Do you guys think that if he does show up he will play on selected songs i.e. old guns songs - or do you think that he might have rehearsed with the band 1 or 2 times?

I thought Axl stopped playing "Don't Cry" after Shannon Hoon died?

That's only a (farfetched imo) rumour.

GnR weren't touring when Shannon died, and just because it wasn't played in 2001/2 doesn't mean Shannon was the reason (There was ALOT of Illusion songs that wasn't played during 2001/2 that you would of expected to hear)

And I have never seen a interview where Axl has said himself that's why they didn't play it during 2001/2.

If we see it on this toru I'm sure it will put the Shannon rumours to rest.

I don't think Shannon Hoon's death has anything to do w/ Don't Cry not being played - that is pure internet garbage unless I hear it directly from Axl - not a friend of someone who once leaned Axls toilet in his RV.

I'm really not sure why it wasn't played, but it was written by Axl and Izzy and I could see them playing it together again if not just for a few nights.

In 2000, GnR had lawsuit filed against them by songwriter Bobby Martin who alleged that ?Don?t Cry? was in fact a reworking of his Puerto Rican hit single ?Ensename A Amar?. Martin wanted $11.5 million from Geffen Records, Universal Music Group, and G N' R members Rose, Slash, Duff McKagan, and Izzy Stradlin.

I think the suit was settled out of court, but suffice it to say, they have never played the song since the suit.

just cuz izzy might show up for a show or 2 doesn't mean he's going to play. axl never said " izzy might come out and jam with us". he just mentioned that izzy might come out to see a show, then everyone just assumed that means izzy is going to come jam with GnR.

Axl's having a hard enough time getting people to accept the new band. having Izzy there might not help matters, and alot of people (mainly the press) will start reporting that Izzy is back with the band.

i'd like to see Izzy get up there and do a song or 2, but i wouldn't count on it. Who even knows if he'll show up?

It's Izzy I am sure he can play whatever comes his way be it a new or old song... it is not like he is some outcast that has to hear leaks... Iz is still good friends with Axl and I am sure he has heard the songs or played some of the material that is new... Plus, it really doesn't matter unless he shows... He will proally be in Baja racing Core Trucks or something like that so lets not count on it... Not saying it couldn't happen...
