Well, since there are few news the last days, i thought i d share this with you guys :

I ve always thought that some of Axl's music really effects people in a certain way - some of Axl's melodies (like Estranged or November Rain i.e.) are very nice for everybody's ears  Smiley Smiley Smiley I know many people , who has no idea who Axl is or never even listen to this kind of music (like one of my friend's mother or a grand-father ). who really like songs like November Rain...! Back in 1991, i was listening to "Estranged" and my mother came in the room and she really, really liked it! i m sure that most of you had the same experience with people you know - people that have nothing to do with GNR music...

I was really shocked  Shocked when i had this experience with my daughter ! : i was driving home with my daughter in the backseat (my daughter is 3 1/2 years old) and i had "November Rain" in my Cd player.... My daughter was talking to me (you know "buy me some ice-cream" etc Grin) when suddenly stopped talking.... i looked at her through the  mirror , saying "what;s up sweetheart"? ...she said "ssssssssss, i wanna hear this song" !!!!!!!!!
i was really surprised ...she really really loved it! she wasnt speeking till the end of the song, when she finally said "play it again please"!  i played it again till we arrived home - then she asked me to take the cd up home and play it there !!!! Since that day, every day, and i mean EVERY DAY she asks me for the "violin and piano song"!!!!  Wink i see her face when she listen to this song and she has this calm look in her face waving her hands slowly in the air!!!

that made me think how some of Axl's music is much more greater than a "rock n roll song" or a "big hit in the billboards".... it s really rare to find some music that relaxes babies and small kids (you parents know what i m talking about  Grin Grin ), i thought that only Bethoveen or Motzart can do that! And i respect Axl even more now ,as a composer , cause the music he has in his mind must be really awasome...!

Anyway, i really wanted to share this with you.... ok

I know exactly what you mean, my six month old boy, since he was about 3 months, LOVES Guns N Roses, especially Sweet Child O' Mine! When he was fussing and couldn't fall asleep, we'd put it on and he fall right to sleep. Probably has something to do with it being "our" song and always played it when she was pregnant, but he loves that song and whenever Axl's voice comes on, he'll stop fussing (luckily I'm blessed with a child who hardly fusses at all) or he'll have a big smile. It's fun to watch him "dance" to Rocket Queen.  Hehehe.

You are spot on about the music being more than just being a single or a bighit. When I went to buy use your illusion i felt shocked it was hidden with all the other cds in the store, i felt like it was soo much to be stored on a simple cd it was more than the latest razorlight album. So many emotions on a piece of plastic so weird.

I think it is important that (incase the band occasionaly view these forums) that no matter what the record sales are, wether it's 13 million or 13 for Chinese Democracy, the music they produce means a lot to us and we respect them for the talent and problems they have been through.

totally agree with you!

all these years from the glory days till today, i never really got mad to Axl cause "he cant get an album out there" or "cause he is always late on stage" and all this shit ...
i just thank the guy , and all the people who helped him compose all these wonderful songs - the old and the new line up - for bringing me such great music....
you cant even imagine what emotions i get when i listen to "Breakdown" for example.....i feel this song is written just for me  Cool

Yes!!! Yes! I am 20 years old, and I have been a Gn'R fan since I was 7 years old when I heard November Rain for the first time.
... I feel strange because you are writing about your daughter loving November Rain... and I am writing about becoming a fan since I was a little girl because I loved November Rain.
I know that usually kids grow out of what they love as a kid, but I just became more of a fan as I got older... Nowadays I feel like I have been a fan ALL my life, and I actually can't understand it when people say bad things about the band... or even that they don't like them. I realize that they're not everyone's cup of tea... but... how is that so?
And now when I listen to November Rain, well, I get a lot of different feelings from it now, because of experiences I've had in my life.... but it doesn't change the fact that I still LOVE that song and I always will do. I'll always love Guns N' Roses, old AND new! yes love beer

And to the haters: I feel sorry for you...

well, i dont know if my kid would like GnR when she ll be 20 y old, i sure hope she would!  Cheesy when you are old enough to understand the lyrics, the meanings behind them etc, you have a different prespective of a song...but being just 3-4 y old, and still enjoy a melody or a solo in a song is just amazing, at least to me...! and believe me, it s very very difficult to find anything that relaxes a baby (besides the mother hihi).....

Add my three kids to the fans of GNR (now ages 14, 12 and 10). My kids have always loved PC, SCOM, My Michelle, WTTJ and November Rain. A lot of their friends also love GNR, it's music that today's kids crave and don't get enough of with all the rap crap out there on the charts. A lot of kids are listening to bands from the 80's, gee, I wonder why.  hihi

My little lad has loved Nightrain since he was about 2, he's now 4.

He looked great this year on holiday. They had the entertainers and the mascots in stupid costumes on the stage and the kids club were doing a Pop Idol style talent contest.

All the kids did things like Britney, Pussycat Dolls etc. My lad gets up and they asked him what music he needs. He said none. We sat there amongst about 50 or 60 other people watching the kids. He takes the mic, walks to the centre of the stage and goes, "Tsh, Tsh, Tsh WOOOOOOOO WOOOOOOOO!!!! I'm on the Nightrain...." rofl He repeated the chorus a few times before throwing the mic off stage.

I've never been so proud of him, but as we walked away some woman stopped me to have a go about how my son shouldn't be listening to "Such hideous influences with such appalling subject matter" Que my Axl-esque middle finger. The cheek of the woman, her 7 year old was singing, "Loosen up my buttons" by PCD!!!
