Probably been discussed before, but I could not find the thread when I search and I wanted to give my opinion.

While watching the video from Rock Am Ring - the electronic drum loop thing that they play during certain parts of Better totally fuck up the song - i hate it.

I hope the loop is not on the album.

yeah, if you listen to the leak out of one speaker in the intro one has the guitar the other hast the drums. The drums in the intro aren't very good because thay sound so electronic, hopefully it's changed a bit for the album

They are brilliant. They sound electronic because they're SUPPOSED to. That's why they sound like they sound and not like real drums, because thats what they want. Welcome to the world of modern music. Well I say modern, but this kinda shit pre-dates GNR and still sounds great today. Gimme a bit of Blue Monday over Crazy Crazy Nights any day.

the beat (more like scratch) on RAR was bad because it was out of time. Something was wrong with it and it may be possible because Brain had problems (if you notice, his earphones had some trouble and some roadie tries to fix it while he's playing).

Well u better like it, because I have a feeling most tracks on the new LP will have all kinds of funny lil "add ins" and drum loops in it. Why the hell else would an album take this many years to make? This is also the reason I feel the album will suck. Guns N Roses were all about being spontaneous, thats what made them soooo good. Getting caught up in the music/moment and making a great song. Axl has been tweaking and mixing so many diff things it takes away from the music. Just my opinion

It's not Brain who controls those loops it's Chris Pittman for sure.
Brain uses his headphones for purposes of metronome and also ear protection (GN'R sound engineer actually confirmed this to me when we had dinner with him at the Hard Rock in Lisbon)

BTW... Hey Jarmo and Co! Hope to repeat it again next year! Grin

What would be the point of using drum loops if they're just going to sound like live drums when you have a real drummer.  They're supposed to sound electronic, and they add to the atmosphere of the song.

ahhh the drum loop in the beginning of Better is AWESOME.  IMO it totally makes the intro to that song.  I couldn't / wouldn't want to imagine the song without it in fact.. beer
