I want to take a poll here. Are you more familiar with the new band or the old band, from the 1991-94 lineup?

I'm familiar with both, but to be honest, until the new band releases an album, it's kind of hard to see them as 'real' members.

Being that I am 41, I grew up with the old band, but completely welcome the new, I am just open to GNR as long as Axl is aboard, wish some of you younger fans could have shared some of the experiences of the old band, they were so awesome, hell on wheels, but at least you guys get a piece of the pie, so for that I think we are all lucky, and for Axl, well it's gotta make him feel good to have this whole new generation loving him and the new band, plus many of us older fans as well, he has definately made on impact on alot of people and I'm sure he will continue to do so, there is just that something about him that keeps ya coming back for more....

I wasn't into GN'R when the old band was together, but since they did alot more stuff and gave alot more interviews I feel I know them better. The connection is certainly stronger to the old.

Definitely the old. Even though I had never heard of Buckethead, Bumblefoot etc. I still fucking love the leaks I have heard.  ok
What pisses me off is that it seems everyone I tell about this new album seems to have the same reaction.
No Slash = teh Gay.
This really pisses me off as none of them have heard any of these new tracks and no matter how much I tell them this is as close to classic gunners as we were ever gonna get their reaction stays the same. This is a problem they have  to overcome with all the non-hardcore fans I feel.

Old, i'm 17 so i'm fairly young but i just got into GnR over the summer and the old lineup are just so much cooler than the new one, IMHO.

Slash, Izzy/Gilby and Duff v Bumblefoot, Ron, Robin and that bassist? Tommy?

There's just no question.  Plus i prefer the old pure rock style to the current rock/industrial (and let's be honest, even songs like IRS are fairly industrial).

I never saw the old lineup (I'm including the Adler/Sorum years equally under "old") live, but I'd say I'm much more familiar with them, despite having seen the new lineup.  To this day, and I'm sure others agree, I can hear a guitar solo and know that it's Slash.  I hear other guitarists who I think are, stylistically, clearly inspired by Slash.  I have most of Izzy's solo stuff, and Duff's solo stuff (and Neurotic Outsiders/Loaded), etc.  Outside of GNR, I don't know much about the new guys.  I AM seeking out some of their stuff to get a listen, but I'm not nearly as familiar with their styles.

Old because there's practically a media blackout with the new band.
